Sad News I was informed to remind the Villagers we have an ordinance that prohibits parking in the driveway of the streets. We all know that the snow removal operators will not tolerate the cars in their path. And if you have a car too big for your garage (like you know who) the only thing to do is trade it in on one that will fit. Mistaken Identity A couple weeks ago I stated «in my column that we have two new police officers and that we do have, but I had one of the names wrong. I was right about Dave Davies but the other is that handsome man who belongs to Theresa and his name is Jack Morris instead of Jack Rose. While I am on the subject I would like to compliment our new officers on the good job they are doing. Village Briefs Mrs. Wentzel has discarded her walker and is mighty happy about it because the approaching holidays will be merrier Jf she's able to spend them on her own two feet. Mrs. Tomsa's daughter from Riverside came in to Mom's for a visit but ended up in the McHenry hospital. She fell in the garage and broke her leg -- so let's all be careful as it could happen to us. Maria Metzger was stricken with a bad case of tonsilitis which kept her home from school for a few days. Her doctor prescribed medication and rest which resulted in a quick recovery. The Prells attended a fancy Christmas party given by their employers. It was held at one cf the famous restaurants where dancing and dining is a specialty. Little Kurt Rowlands ceW bra ted his second birthday party where he received many lovely presents from h i s friends and grandparents. Carla Martin and Cheryl Patterson belong to the Senior Girl Scout troop 494 in Wonder Lake. They are busy at this time making Christmas gifts for the parents. A style show will be presented after Christmas holidays. I spent a day shopping with my "Pat" at a shopping center which is a stone's throw from her home and also enjoyed a fancy dinner at a fancy restaurant. Honored JeanieJo (my granddaughter) was chosen to serve at the N.I.U's dedication of the New Wirtz Hall (Silver Platter Luncheon). She also had the honor to shake hands with Mr. Wirtz, Secretary of Labor for whom the building was named. Their daughter, (the proud Mama) lives in Midlotheon. Accident Mr. and Mrs. G. Runge were involved in an automobile accident Dec. 7. They were rushed to the nearest hospital which was in Elgin. They both sustained severe injuries and are responding to treatment very well. However they do have plans to spend Christmas at home. New Neighbors We have a new addition which lies just north of us. There are several families who have already taken residence in the new homes. Their names are Mr. and Mrs. Frank Williams, John Bottengers, Albert Heid, Charles Stureks, John Staceys, and Mr. and Mrs. Philipsky. We wish them a Merry Christmas and a good living in our "Hills". In Closing Now that Christmas is around the corner - sorta looks like all our homemakers are busy doing things up pretty for their little families. Maybe too busy to furnish Louise and me with sufficient news-- so we will just go along with that for now...but try to do. better - come the New Year.' We both thank you tor your" cooperation we received in the past. Now the part I like best. We wish you a Merry Christmas. SEAT BELTS FOR CHRISTMAS State Police Superintendent William H. Morris advised last week that seat belts be given for Christmas. Morris made the plea for two reasons: first, safety and comtort; secondly, compliance with Illinois' new law. Legislation enacted during the 74th General Assembly earlier this year maoe seat belt installation mandatory after March 1, 1966. "Many persons," Morris said, "are unaware of the law making front seat installation of two seat belts mandatory in 19bl or later model cars." The law requires two sets ot approved belts in all such vehicles and pr^nibits operation of them without scat belts. ces PH. 459-4050 The same-type of flourescent m a t e r i a l s t h a t m a k e t n o s e bright orange school signs seem to glow in the dayume also may be brightening your ciothing.
