As this is niy last copy of this column for 1965 I think it is no more than fitting to express my gratitude to all for your cooperation throughout this past year. Without your calls, this column would not be in existance. Please bear with me for the next two weeks and save all your newsy items until after the first of the new year. Like everyone else, our family is caught up in the holiday whirl, so there will be no Johnsburg News for the next two weeks. I'm looking for a long, long, long, column for the first of 1966. Be sure to call me after the holidays are over and everyone is a bit more relaxed. With the beginning of the new year, I will be starting my fourteenth year as the Johnsburg correspondent. It has been fun, thanks to you. Let this column bigger and more interesting than ever. ! mas. A pot-luck supper started the festive evenings activities, the girls sang many lovely Carols which made everyone aware the holiday was well on its way. This also served as an introduction to the guest of honor, who could be no one other than Santa Claus. The happy man in red distributed the gifts to one and all. Games were also played during the course of the party. All juvenile members are reminded that the next regular meeting will be held at 7 o'clock in the community club on Jan. 10. At this time a bunco party is being planned. Please try to attend. Early Celebrating The Richard Dehn family will have celebrated Christmas once by the time this comes to print. They were in Chicago on Dec. 19 to observe the holiday with his father, John Dehn, as well as other family members. Birthday Celebrant Mary Lu Wakitsch was feted with a family type celebration in honor of her twenty-second natal day on Dec. 15. She and her parents, Gerry and Marcella, as well as her brothers, Tom, Bob, Joel and Randy, enjoyed dinner out for the occasion. Belated happy wishes to her. Businessmen Elect Officers The annual election of officers was held at the last meeting of the Johnsburg Busine smen Association on Dec. 14. The official meetings will be held every two months in the future. Newly elected into office were; Fred Smith as president, Harry Freund as vice-president, Al. Oeffling as treasurer and LaVon Do whin as secretary. Special thanks to Paul Pitzen for the beautiful Christmas tree which stands on the corner in the heart of our town. The local businessmen joined forces last week to light the tree. It does look most attractive. Juvenile Party Well Attended Some eighty - one juvenile members of St. Agatha court 777 were present in the community club hall on Dec. 12 for the celebration of Christ- On the Mend Mrs. Dorothy Himpelmann was ever so happy to return to her home and family on Thursday of last week after spending a week as a patient in St. Therese hospital. She will be taking it easy for a spell, but it's upward healthwise for her from here on. Well, here it is the end-- this column as well as this year. Please be extra kind to each other through the holiday season and make a resolution to continue it into 1966. Don't forget my next deadline is Jan. 10. WITNESSES TELL PROGRAM PLANS THIS WEEKEND jehovtih's • Witnesses from s i x t e e n c o n g r e g a t i o n s f r o m northeastern Illinois will gather at William Fremd High School, 1000 S. Querttin road in Palatine this weekend for an assembly with the announced purpose of "Increasing Our Praise to Jehovah". More than 1,400 are expected to attend. The three-day sessions will begin Friday evening with a model ministry school in which the students will consider the writings of the prophet Malachi. Saturday morning at 9 a.m., Romayne Lund of the Woodstock congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses will discuss the theme "Speak the Truth Out of the Heart's Abundance", based on Matthew 12: 34, 35. The highlight of Saturday's meetings will be the baptism of those of Jehovah's Witnesses who wish to publicly declare their dedication of their lives to Jehovah God as His witnesses and ministers. Saturday evening. Watchtower Bible and Tract society district supervisor, A. C. Manera, Jr., will spe;ik on the subject "Showing Discernment in the Ministry". On Sundny at 3 p.m., Mr. Manera will deliver a public Bible lecture, "Wh;it Does the Resurrection of the Dead Mean for You and Yours?" Everyone is invited to attend all sessions of the assembly. The sessions are free and no contribution is ever asked. The stockings have been hung by the fireplace (or a reasonable facsimile) with care, in hope that St. Nickolas won't miss Holiday Hills. I am sure that he will be able to see the bright glow of all the lovely decorations that d<gF* almost everyhome here. You can almost see the glow of little halos. over little heads and there is that undefineable feeling of Christmas in the air.
