Spread wet burlap sackg over them to provide a /ion-skid walking surface. /*The sacks will freeze to the steps - - and you eliminate all the nuisance of salt stains or sand removal. We take ICE CUBES for granted, but they're really a very necessary product, and can be very useful too. You can crisp drooping vegetables by putting them in a sinkful of iced water for a few minutes. And a few ice cubes in a bowl of lirpp flowers will make them snap alive. For an odd-shaped vase, spoon in crushed ice. If you don't have an ice crusher, you can make crushed ice in small quantities easily. Just put ten ice cubes at a time in a beat it. with a mallet or the side of a hammer. Crushed ice also makes filling an ice bag or vacuum jug an easier and faster task.
