Family Affair The Pflugs' destination Christmas weekend was in Maywood with all the relatives where they exchanged many presents and also enjoyed several big feasts. Absentee Irma . had a joyous Christy mas with her brother, Otto from Chicago, Charley, who is home from college and Dorothy. has one regret. Her boy "Fred" couldn't make it home because he is somewhere in Europe--altho he did manage to send a huge package to his folks. Hollywood Guest The Richard Schneider family were elated when their daughter, Therese, jetted in from Hollywood, Calif. The whole family spent an enjoyable Christmas day visiting ;with Denn, Celine and David Sima and also Grandma Anna Schneider. The finest of the week was spent1 visiting various friends and relatives in the area. On Saturday she jetted back to California thankful to get back to a warmer climate. Last June Jim was transferred to McHenry from Denison, Iowa, by his company and came ahead to find a place to live. Carol and the children, Suzanne, 6, and Randall, 5, arrived in July. The Tharps lived in town until November around Thanksgiving when they came to Kent Acres. Jim is the manager of a local firm and ft an active bowler who also likes to hunt and fish. Carol who works at a department store in town says she likes to bowl but has no hobbies as su<^h. unless you call fondness of Oakifig a Jiobby. ^ Birthday Parties Mrs. Hattie Hallstrom, mother of Evelyn Grant and grandmother of Donna Ray," celebrated her » eighty-first birthday with a party at the home of the Grants on Dec. 19. Those present were Cliff and Evelyn Grant, Don and Donna Ray and their children, Don and Marlyn Grant and family of Deerfield, William Johnson, her brother, and his wife of Compton and Mrs. Bertha Ostrand, her sister, of Chicago. A Swedish cake and coffee were served and everyone had a good time. Mrs. Hallstrom is a great-grandmother five times and will soon have a sixth. Visitors Mrs. Blanche Phillips, mother of Florence Krieger, spent Christmas with Florence and her children, Kirk, Kimberly and Karen. This is the first Christmas that Florence and her mother have spent together in 12 years. Mrs. Phillips is from Wilmington, N. C. Mrs. Florence Tharp and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Tharp and family spent ^Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with Jjm and Carol Tharp and family. Birthdays Tommy Kent was 6 on Dec. 26. Dennie Nyberg was 2 on Dec. 28, Esther Giersten had a birthday on Dec. 29, and Kenneth Klien was 13 on the twenty-ninth. Janice Varney had a birthday on the thirtieth and Tommy FishVr was 5 on the thirty-first. There are no birthdays the first week in January. Hockey The Metzger children, Gunthers, Williams, Lehmans, and many others are spending most of their time playing hockey on the frozen chanel. I might .add it is a beautiful sight from where I am. New Police Car Sunnyside village is proud to announce that we have a new car on order for the officers. It will be delivered within a couple of weeks. Whispering Hills Louise CJiel Dec. 1, Rev. Doenecke had become a part-time minister of visitation at the Woodstock Methodist church. • He does the pastoral calling and preaches once a month. Ghost Town Christmas Eve in Whispering Hills looked like a ghost town as 80 percent of the residents had left to spend the holidays with their children and grandchildren. Visitor Lala and Hazel Smoot drove to Rockford to i.o-t Mother Glefke who is in the Eastern Star Home. We were happy to see her and glad that she could spend the Christmas week here." Ilenshalls have Guests from Canada The Henshalls entertained Tom's sister, her husband and their boy over the Christmas weekend. Mr. and Mrs.. Baxter and son, Peter, drove in from London, Ontario, and were lucky enough to arrive before our bad storm. The Henshalls had visited with the Baxters last Labor Day weekend so there was much to talk ab°ut and all enjoyed the visit even though they 1 couldn't stay as long as they would have liked to. News Hems The Olbinslsis spent Christmas Eve with Gerry's sister and her family. On Christmas day they drove to River Grove and had dinner with Ed's sister, his mother and many relatives. They entertained Ward and Marge Chamberlin and Mr. and Mrs. Kiirtz and their baby on New Year's day. The Hattons spent the holiday with Gordon's family jn Bensenville. Joining the group were two of his sisters, one brother, aunts and his mother and dad. It was a real family get-together for all. Audrey and Chuck visited the Senior Whitneys on Sunday and on Tuesday made/ the rounds^ stopping to see Ihree sisters and one brother of Chuck's, all of whom live in Bensenville. MILK PRICES Chicago market dairy farmers will be paid at least $3.95 per cwt., the top blend price of the year, on all November deliveries of milk to plants within the Chicago Federal Order 30 marketing area, it was reported by W. H. Cope, director of marketing for Pure Milk association. The $3.95 price is 8 cents higher than the average price, including a uniform superpool premium, paid producers in November a year ago and 4 cents higher than the October 1965 blend price.
