Our Deepest Sympathy to the family or Anita Horton who died on Monday evening Jan. 3, 1966. Several times recently it has been the job of your reporter to write up the news of a very close friend's death. What does one say at a time like this? That her family and friends are saddened by her death? Of course they are. She leaves a space which cannot ever be filled again by anyone. Should one talk in hushed respectful tones? Somehow this doesn't suit her. We were friends for 8 years arid I enjoyed every minute of it. No one could know this "feisty", hard working , straight-fromthe- shoulder woman who had a quick sense of humor and the glib tongue to go with it and not admire her greatly. She had a heart of gold and shared it with everyone but you couldn't put anything over on her - not for one second. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. "Each departed friend is a magnet that attracts us to the next world" - (Richter) Anita lived in the green house on the top of the hill - Wainwright ©rive-in Hickory Falls, with her husband, Harold. She was the mother of Ronnie Perry and grandmother of Leigh Perry. The funeral was from Christ the King church on Thursday, Jan. 7, with burial in Christ the King cemetery. Notes: If you have a bit of news to spare -- I could use it. Or have I said that before? I'd better get some soon or I'll start writing weekly installments of my 21 years in Wonder Lake. That would fill up a few columns, I'll bet. Would't you just, rather have nice newsy items. Then why not come up with some? OK?
