Secikm Thfte--Pag» Two THE McHENRY PL AINDE ALER Thursday, January 20/1960. SlINYSID'E."VlLLA Bf CROWLEY PHONE 38B-2662 NO COLUMN LAST WEEK BECAUSE OF SCRIBED ILLNESS ^ First of all I know you are wondering about last week's --«olumn, .It-*-was just a little matter of sickness on the reporter's part. She is doing fine now and intends to stay that-a-way. Unique Waterfalls While I was convalescing I had the pleasure to watch the tree doctors cut down the many trees that were hanging over our channel and hiding our beautiful water falls. When the channel is widened in this specific area and benches placed in the park which joins the falls -- you can be assured it will be very picturesque and something Sunnysiders will be proud to have. New Neighbors Mr. and Mrs. Ambrosef Sandra and Guy, moved into a newly decorated ranch style house at 1400 Lakeview, close to the park and channel where their three ' little children, Bruce, Dale and Valerie will spend most of their time playing with the other .little Sunnysiders. We all join in Wishing them the best in their new home, and maybe some of the neighbors can stop in to see Sandra and her lovely family. Dog Lovers One of our little towns is doing away with the "Welcome Mat" and it's just because they are out of patience. All stray dogs will be put to sleep aftw being held for five days. It is the best thing to do because _ anyone who would let his dog run the streets doesn't deserve his love. Remember to get the rabies shots and then go see Chris for a dog license and it is a good idea to get them early. Calories Irma had a demonstration which ^turned out very good. Her buddies from work and the peighbors participated in the occasion. She said besides the coffee -- the main dish added up to "Calorie-ala-cart. Meeting This month's meeting was a big success and a lot accomplished. A1 May was granted a franchise under which to operate his public water system and the village had pledged that repairs will be made when needed. The board members will contact Gorden Sergent, village engineer, concerning the road' program in the near future. Our cash balance at New Year's was $3,870.19. Glory Sir. and Mrs. Bill Dunn entertained a house i full of company over the weekend. The villagers always haw ways to entertain because of being a summer resort which offers many outdoor activities. The city people are in their glory when they can come out this-a-way. Village Briefs Danny Williams has had a bout with the old flu bug-- stayed home from school several days and we are hoping IE 1TATES KAREN SCHNEIDER 385-4977 NEW OFFICERS INTRODUCED AT ASSOCIATION MEET At the Jan. 9 meeting of the Suunyside Estates Home Owners Association held at the Johnsbtfrg school the new officers, President, Ken Segerstrom, Vice-President, Ray J e n s e n , S e c r e t a r y , N o r m a Gunn and Treasurer Florence Kelso were introduced. The main topic of the evening was the problem of the road bills. A letter from the township supervisor was read and here a direct quote from it, "I would advise, the property owners of Sunnyside Estates to pay the amount requested in said bills. If the amounts requested by the treasurer are wrong an adjustment will have to be made when this is resolved." The bus shelter will be moved from its present location to the corner of May and Dennis and be repainted in the near future. The question of the reading of the water meters was answered the meters are read between the twentieth and the twenty-second of every other month. Members of the S.E.H.O.A. board are as follows, Ken Segerstrom, Mel Simmons, Jim Leahy, Jerry Olsen, Jack Kelso, Florence Kelso, -Norma Gunn\ and Ray Jensen. They are hoping for a much larger turn out at that meeting than there has been in the past. Happy Birthday Wishes Elain Fail who celebrates her fifteenth birthday today. Duo-Ceiebration Was held at the Andrew Eichhorn home on Sunday, Jan. 9. The special occassions were the christening of their new daughter, Theresa, who was born on Dec. 13, and a party to celebrate Andrew Jr's fifth birthday. Terry was christened at two o'clock at St. John's and her godparents were Mary Suss of Round Lake and Arthur Kennebeck of our subdivision. An open house was held after the christening for both Terry and Andy. Andy got an extra bonus by being treated to a movie with his friends and members of the family during the afternoon. Since Uncle Bob died she has no way to get around so we had a nice long drive in the country which we both enjoyed very much. Flash The villagers are hoping by the time you read this our police car will be patrolling our streets once again. They (car and policeman) have been badly missed. Misfortune Jess Dare has been home from work for a couple of weeks. He had the misfortune to loose part of his thumb in the machinery at work. He is now waiting for the doctor's O.K. to return to work. No Ties Our dear Mrs. Schuck has just returned home from a visit with her sister in Pittsburgh, Penn., where she spent a couple months having the time of her life. She is one that has no ties so she takes off like a bird and stays as long as she likes in all parts of the country.
