LEWIS SMITH CHOSEIf HEAD OF BASEBALL LEAGUE The Wonder Lake Boys baseball league held an election of officers at their last meeting, March 20. Lewis Smith was elected president while the secretary and treasurer office was filled j by Conrad Rupp, Jr. Four board members were also elected, these men were; Edw a r d B e l l , R o b e r t L u n a k , George Street and Jack' Van Kanegan. The . registration for the leagues will be held on April 2 between 2 and 4 p.m. Adult assistants are needed ft>r these leagues. Smith for further information. ; lob Well Done The free distribution of the measte vaccine has been completed with a total of 292 children from the Wonder Lake area receiving the shots. Dr. Santo Ruggero commended Mrs. Phyllis Schuster and her committee, Mrs. Schmall, Lind, Weisenberger, Bixby, Van Kanegan, and Arndt on the fine help and assistance they so graciously donated. Farewell Luncheon Mrs. Anthony Misiak., hosted a farewell luncheon for her very good friend and neighbor, Maiy 'Smith. Mary, who left March 25 with her family for Ontario, Calif., enjoyed the company of Gloria Coughlin, Harriett Van Kanegan, Cora Lien, Libby Johnson and Gert Nielsen for the last time. During the week. Pat Sullivan had some of their neighbors in for coffee and to bid farewell to Mary. The friends of Mary and Charles wish them well but will also miss them greatly. Henry County Zoning Planning, present and future, was presented by Horace Wagner. Jim Robison headed a group including Bob Howe, Ed Heller, Bill Cristy, and Phil Kinzer to. an Interclub with the Crystal Lake club Tuesday. Lennie Freund announced that the merit award dinner (honoring our out standing eighth graders) will be held Monday, April 25, at the Ringwood Methodist church. Ed Heller was welcomed back from his Florida safari. Ed seated, that his met many McHenry and Wonder Lake people ai'ound Bonita Springs, Naples and Fort Myers, more than he meets when he goes to our county seat. Phil Kinzer once again won the battle ax award. Women's Auxiliary The last meeting of the Wonder View Women's auxiliary was held at.the home of Ethel Moore. A discussion was held on the activities planned for the coming year, with a report being made by the Wpys and Means Chairman Clara Meyers. The installation of officers will be held at the next meeting. Chflst The King Upon request or several parishioners it is announced that the traditional blessing of Easter baskets and foods will be given on Holy Saturday at 4 p.m. This advanced notice is being given so that many fam-. ilies that have this wonderful Catholic tradition may have the opportunity to prepare and inform others who may be interested. Three children made their First Holy Communion Sunday, March 27. Scott Buss received his Communion at the 9 a.m. Mass. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Wines' son, Michael, received his Communion at the 10:30 a.m. Mass and Martin Van Kanegan, son of the Jack Van Kanegans received his Communion at the 12 noon Mass. Clean Up Day The Wonder View subdivision will have a clean-up day on April 2. Any permanent resident who wishes to dispose of any junk, stoves, etc. may do so at this time. Put any rubbish that you may wish to discard in front of your home. • |Wg week's program, Mc- Cub Scoute Pack 145 Cub Scout, Pack 145 held their meeting March 22 at the Harrisori school. Cubm aster Ward Ehredt welcomed everyone and opened the meeting by having Den three post colors, the pledge of allegiance was recited and roll call taken, with Den 3 winning the attendance award. Wonder Lake Bible Church The youth gospel crusade will be . held Friday, April 1, but there will be no meeting for the Pioneer Girls or the Awana Boys Club. The Christian Truth Class will meet on Saturday, April 2, at 10 a.m. On Sunday, April 3,x 9:30 a.m. Sunday School for all ages. 11 a.m. Morning Worship, Junior Church, 5:30 p.m. Youth Choir Rehearsal, 6:00 p.m. Jets, Junior Hi, Senior Youth Fellowship, 7:00 p;m, Bible Fellowship Hour. Birthdays Happy birthday to - Michael Wines who turned 8 on March 25 and to Roseann Strojny who celebrated her sixteenth birthday. In a recently held art contest our own Joyce Pinkonsly was announced the winner of first prize, which was a big beautiful cast iron Hibachi. Three of our girls, Joyfce, Louise Winters and Helen Barden, had enrolled in an art class at the high school and had entered their paintings in the contest. Congratulations to Joyce, her painting will be on display in McHenry along with Mike Honored A combined birthday and First Holy Communion party was hejd for Mikfe Wines on March 27. Surprised After attending a shower Sunday, I came home to find that my family had baked a cake to celebrate my birthdpy. Accidents in the Shores \ Tommy Koleno, 16, is recovering from his accident last Friday when he injured h i s righ arm in a feed grinder. He will be confined to the McHenry hospital for some time and, would appreciate cards or letters. Also he is now abler to have visitors sp he would enjoy seeing his friends and classmates as time drags aiong for an active boy who is unable to get out. We hope to hear that he is much better by next week. Leona Wagner had the mlsfourtune to fall down last Monday and break her knee cap.. She was having surgery this week so by next week we hope to give you some better news.
