March 26, there was an Easter Egg Hunt 2:00 at the Community House. The older ones hunted for the eggs outside the younger ones inside. HELP NEEDED!! Your Reporter Karen Fergen Brownies We would like to remind the Brownie Mothers that the registration cards and fee for day camp must be in to Clare Engh by May 15. No reservations will be accepted after that date. Volunteer mothers from our troop are also needed with one mother for every eight girls required. Volunteers may call Mrs. Quast at 385- 4087. At their meeting last Tuesday an revaluation of the fair was done, followed by a songfest. The girls then went outside to enjoy the beautiful weather and jumped rope. Boy Scout Troop 459 At a meeting at Mr. Cole's hou^'e, the patrols of Boy Scout troop 459 voted on the patrol and assistant patrol leaders. The leaders of the Eagle Patrol are Don Prazak and Gary Braun. The Panther Patrol leaders of the Eagle Patrol are Don Prazak and Gary Braun. The Panther Patrol leaders are Mike Koch and Billy Eckhart. With these new leaders, our troop should really get somewhere. At a recent committee meeting, it was decided to buy about five tents. Girl Scout Troop 320 At the meeting Thursday, April 21, a badge sash with thirty-five badges was exhibited. All these badges were earned by Mrs. Patterson when she was a Girl Scout. We would like to earn this many badges, too, and will work harder. The officers held a Court of Honor meeting, while the other girls sang songs. After that we had our flag ceremony. Names were picked from a hat to divide all the girls into new patrols, and we picked new assistant patrol leaders. Respectfully submitted, Cathy Humann, Scirbe. Cancer Drive Volunteers will be calling at your homes in the next week or so to collect for the crusade against cancer. They will have fact sheets with information about cancer and the danger signs. Strolling Through the Park From all reports this should be the cleanest community in existence after this past sunny weekend. Most everyone was suffering on Monday from Mthe traditional aching muscles after the first weekend of yard work. Lots of paint brushes and lawn mowers were in evidence on Sunday. The smell of freshly mown lawns can't be duplicated. Jack and Petey Oakford celebrated anniversary number twelve, Saturday with Petey's brother, Duke Grondy, and his wife, Connie. They marked the grand occasion by attending a concert at McCormick Place. It was Duke's birthday and cause for more celebration. "Shirley Koch *is sporting a finger splint aft:r an exhuberant game ol volleyball last week. The poor thing is banned from doing the dishes till the injured member heals. We should be so lucky! Seriously, though, we aren't a bit jealous. Bev Wickenkamp. is recuperating from a week of baby sitting with her sister's two children, 10 month old Kathy and 2'a year old Billy, while their parents were in New York on a buying trip. Jimmy McMillan is hobbling around on crutches having received a sprained ankle and many bruises on his leg at school Friday. Hope your injuries don't slow you down too long, Jim. I checked on the progress of Sid Davis who is still at Walther Memorial hospital recovering from a serious back injury. He has been there 5 weeks today (Monday). Sid is able to sit up now and his red letter day is May 15 when they are going to get him on his feet. Dorothy Glorch applied far a 3 month subscription of the^PJaindealer to be sent to him at the hospital so he can keep up on all the current events including playing newspaper bingo. Erline takes the bingo cards to him when she gets up there to visit. We are all hoping for a speedy recovery for you, Sid, and hope you will be home soon. Mr. and Mrs. Luing entertained their pinochle club from Chicago on Sunday April 17. One member, Mrs. Arthur Segebrecht of Oak Park, held the winning hand of the day - 1500 in Hearts. This is a club of many years, over 42 years together and is still going strong. Tommy Daurio has taken over the chicken pox from his brother, Jimmy, who was down with them a couple of weeks ago. Hope he gets over them before Sunday andi his first Communion. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Luing's grandson, PFC Dennis Luing, is home on a furlough from Germany and stopped in and paid them a visit. After his furlough of 45 days, he is going to Oakland, Calif., where he will receive his orders for 13 months in Viet Nam. He has a brother, James Luing, who is serving on the USS Pyro on the China Seas and another of their grandsons, PFC Robert Luing of Schiller Park, is also in Viet Nam. I imagine they keep well abreast of the news over there. Shirley Hutt's sister and her family, Phyllis and Bill Zygowicz, and Karen visited with the Hutts on Sunday and stayed for dinner. The beautiful weather really draws the city folks. Mr. and Mrs. Poole are home again after a short visit with their daughter, Virginia Fry, and her family in Milwaukee. Nice to be home again. The Mannings had surprise guests for the weekend when their daughter, Anna May Lezon, and her husband, Stanley, and their two granddaughters. Mary Ann and Carolyn, dropped in unexpectedly. They had a nice visit and caught up on a lot of news. A surprise party was held for Flora Hagemann Monday in honor of her birthday. The hostess was Leonora Abbott who prepared a feast of homemade birthday cake with ice cream and the fixings. Helping with the hoax were *Hattie Manning, Lee Glorch, Marie Hayden, Laura Poole, and Eva Bott. Cards were played to round out the afternoon. Bud Walker is a patient at Woodstock Memorial hospital. Our get well wishes are extended, with the hope that he feels better real soon. Art and Gladys Hafer traveled to Manitowoc, Wis., last weekend to visit with friends, Mr. and Mrs. Elroy Waack, who used to be neighbors and worked with Art. They had a lovely time renewing acquaintances. Get-well wishes to Irene Koehl, who is confined to bed for several weeks. A card or two would help pass the time away.
