To be eligible for Cwens, a young, lady must have a "B" or better grade average in her first semester's study at Northern, be active in extra-curricular activites and be of high moral character., Miss Farr is a second-sei% ester freshman who will begin her Cwen duties next autumn. She is a psychology major. She is active on campus ,in women's extra-mural basketball, volleyball, Softball teams, Women's Recreation association executive board and dean's list. LARGE CROWD AT FELLOWSHIP CHURCH DINNER The American Legion hall was filled Saturday night as Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church had a 90 percent turnout for its fellowship dinner. Alan Olsen was the master of ceremonies for the program, which began with a songfest led by Phillip Helwig and accompanied by Alice Malzahn. The speakers were Wayne Malzahn, who spoke on "Our Church Program"; John Flint, "Our Witness". The hostesses for the evening, under the direction of Hostess Chairlady Roye Roadman, were June Berg, Audry Bye, Shirley Campbell, Lavern Hromec, Alice Malzahn, Nancy Mowrer, Pat Peterson, Pauline Pries, Barb Schmaling, Ann Varese and Lori Wilhelm. Eugene Lutz and Obituaries LEO E. ORLOWSKI Leo E. Orlowski, 73, of 306 W. Broadway, Pistakee Highlands, died Monday, April 25, of a heart attack while visiting in the home of a neighbor. Mr. Orlowski was born in Chicago April 7, 1893, and had lived in this area for the past nine years. He was a member of St. John's church, the Holy Name society and the Pistakee Highlands association. The deceased belonged to Court No. 1197, C.O.F., OF St. Hyacinth's church, Chicago. Mr. Orlowski was a retired employee of Skils-Saw, Chicago, leaving the company in 1955. Survivors are his son, Richard W., with whom he made his home; two sisters, Mrs. Maime Kitrush of Wisconsin and Mrs. Agnes Pingle of Wheeling. He was preceded in death Aug. 8, 1965, by his wife, Lillian; by one daughter, Florence, in 1941 and by two brothers. Funeral Mass will be sung at 10" o'clock Friday at St. John's church, with burial in the church cemetery. The body rests at the K.K. Hamsher chapel in Fox Lake after 7 o'clock Wednesday. River road, McHenry, died of an apparent heart attack Monday evening April 25, at 8:30 o'clock at McHenry hospital, where he had been confined for only fifteen minutes. He had been ill for about four months. The deceased, 53. was born in Ridgewood, Ohio, Nov. 10, 1912, and had liVed in this community about seven years, coming here from Des Plaines. He was an electrician for the Modine Company. Survivors are his wife, Mary; a son, John Charles, home on leave from Fort Polk, La.; a daughter, Susan, at home; his mother, Mrs!Julia Shipley Phipps, and a sister, Miss Helen Phipps, of Evanston. MARY ANNA STEIN Mrs. Mary Anna Stein, 77 Center street, Crystal Lake, died in Memorial hospital, Woodstock, early Monday, April 25. Mrs. Stein was a native of the Volo area, where she was born June 19, 1894. Survivors are her husband, Eugene R.; two children, Norman Lodtz of Crystal Lake and Mrs. John (Marian) Engelsen of Garden Prairie; a brother, Andrew Steinsdoerfer, of Crystal Lake; and three sisters, Mrs. Peter (Frances) Koob and Mrs. Ann Heimer of McHenry and Mrs. Roy (Margaret) Montgomery of Chicago. Services were held at 10:30 o'clock Wednesday morning at the Querhammer funeral home, with interment in Crystal Lake Memorial park. ORRIN .WOLF Private rites were conducted Monday for Orrin Wolf, 70, of 1012 Cherry Valley road, McHenry, who died unexpectedly in his home April 22. Mr. Wolf was a retired vicepresident of Hotpoint Corp. He was a captain in the Air Force in World War I, serving overseas. TWO ACCIDENTS Charles C. Hall of Rand road escaped uninjured last week when his car struck a telephone pole three miles south of the city on Draper road. Tho gas pedal on his car' reportedly stuck, and he lost- control as he attempted to negotiate a curve. In another accident, James Clark of Riverview drive, McHenry, and John Majewski of Algonquin escaped, injury but their vehicles were badly damaged when they were involved in an accident on Rt. 176. Majewski was blamed for failure to yield the right of way. The polar bear is often seen swimming easily, 200 miles from the nearest land.
