This Split Level Jamaican Home Is Located In Dutch Creek Woodlands Just Off Of Johnsburg Road On Reed Ave. Natitire of Hynse Prohibits Children "MWWIWI, ij.'toj,'-'1 arrangement is modern and outstanding, Freund said. "Patients will be classified according to medical and nursing needs," Freund explained. The units include the Intensive Care Unit, Intermediate Care Unit, and the Ambulatory Care Unit. Formal dedication of the building will take place later in the year. However, the Ambular tory Care Unit was made possible through a sizable gift by Mrs. Mildred Bollman in memory of her husband, Bernard Bollman. The Bollman Pavilion was dedicated last August. Bollman was one of the hospital's founders in 1956. Visitors will be able to see the surgical suite, with three operating rooms. A special emergency entrance will show how patients who require urgent care will be given swift, efficient help. Steady Growth The hospital's growth has been steady and vital to the community's welfare. It was started in 1956 by a group of physicians, opening Sept. 1 at a cost of $500,000. Twenty-two beds were in the lower floor of the rriedical group building. McHenry hospital is incorporated under the not-for-profit laws of the state of Illinois and directed by a nine-man board. » On April 30, 1961, the second phase opened for patient care. An eight-bed maternity section was included in the eighteenbed addition. The maternity section has a nursery with eight bassinets. Henry B. Tonyan, McHenry, was the first president. James Lennon became president in January, 1960. Freund, current p r e s i d e n t , s p e a r h e a d e d t h e fund drive that raised $200,000 for the 1961 construction. Most of the hospital that visitors will see Sunday is new. Only the former administrative offices (converted into an expanded kitchen), the maternity department, and part of the patient care area will be used from that 1961 construction. That building, as well as part used for the 1956 hospital, are used now by the McHenry Medical Group. The clinic houses the offices of dictors and dentists. In the construction nearing completion, a total of 119 beds are being added, boosting the total to 137.
