YOUNG MECHANICS SCORE WELL IN SCHOOL CONTEST Last Saturday, the McHenry high school power mechanics class entered into competition with thirty-five other schools in the Plymouth trouble shooting contest. The McHenry team of Joe Missbach and Joe Demar did an exceptionally fine job considering that their competitors had participated in the contest at least three other years, and some of them as many as seven. The national champions of last ,year also were in the contest. The schools were entered in two classes, technical and industrial arts, for the purposes of judging and placing trouble. Each car was "bugged" with malfunctions by the service managers from the dealers who supplied them. C a r s h a d a p p r o x i m a t e l y twenty problems in them which, in itself, is a challenge to any mechanic. The final judging was conducted by the Sun Electric company, manufacturers of automotive test equipment, and their decision was final. Each car must meet the manufacturer's specifications exactly or it is disqualified from competition. Working against the clock and other schools brings out the training each of the competitors had been given, proving that there is still a place for the technician in the modern world. Schools such as Willowbrook, Auburn, Thornton East and West, Zion Benton and Rockford East and' West made up some of the competition.
