'C &,: v Four -- Pago Six THE McHENRY PLAINDEALER Thursday* May 26# 1966 SUNNYSIDE VILLAGE KIJBY CROWLEY PHONE S85-26C3 QUESTION BOATERS PASSING THROUGH FOX BXVER LOCKS If any of our villagers plan to go boating this summer on the Fox River and pass through the McHenry dam lock you will be asked to answer some questions. The questions will be asked the boaters in an effort to gain more information about the Fox River. The division now has plans for work along the Fox River from Illinois-Wisconsin State line to Ottawa where it connects with the Illinois River. The boaters will be asked where they are going, where theyboat is registered and the point of origin, what time did they start and what'time do they plan to reach their destination. Scouts Fun "Fair The annual Scouts Fun Fair was held last week at the fair grounds in Waukegan. For the first time the show was held indoors and the problem of weather which plagued former fun fairs was eliminated. All troops participating received awards and ribbons. One of the features of the all-day show were the authentic Indian dances presented by the "order of the Arrow". Exhibits were judged by judges from many Boy Scout Councils and names of blue ribbon winners will be released later. Family Visit The Bill Dunn family took a day off to visit their relatives last week in Chicago. They enjoyed some good old country cooking, which is getting mighty scarce these days. Entertained Mr. and Mrs. Perrewe have been busy in the past week entertaining an aunt and uncle and their daughter Lois from Castro Valley, California. They took in some of our beautiful parks, theatres, resorts, and also enjoyed viewing our fabulous scenery all around us. Predictions Now that summer is here, which we have waited for so long -- I predict there Will be a lot of action in Sunnyside and surroundings. There is one big affair that the villagers will not forget and that happens to be our annual picnic which will take place at our beach on Aug. 14. There has always been a big turn-out and that goes for this year. Scouts Den number. I Cub Scouts can hang up their uniforms for the duration of the summer as far as meetings are concerned because they are scheduled to continue some time in Sept. The Scouts from 4-H Johnsburg Clover were fortunate to receive an excellent rating for their talents which were displayed at the Woodstock community high. 26 Scouts took part in this "Share The Fun" play which has been selected a top entertainment for the State fair. New Home Owner Dr. Holden and his wife recently moved in a new home on Sunset Lane. Mrs Holden tells me they haven't met many Sunnysiders as yet but hope to in the near future. '""Indiana Visotdr# '" Mrs. Patula haa special visitors over the weekend. A girl friend husband and their children, Kathy, Kevin and Kim, from Indianapolis flew up in their private plane. Bad weather conditions extended their visit. A Report Come next week 1 will have a better report in regards to the annual swimming classes which are a necessity for all childred of this time and age. The mothers enjoyed it as much as their little ones. Meeting Please make it a point to be present at this next village meeting. I have a sneaky feeling the new roads will be the topic of the evening so before you go to vote it would be a good idea to know all the facts. LAKEIOOR- LILYMOOR SHIRLEY 8CHUERB 885-2645 Whispering Hills Louise Giel Earl and Millie Stubbe took the plane to visit their daughter, Joyce, and family, in Upland, Calif. Many side trips were taken to San Bernadino, Los Angeles and also a Ski Jump at Angels Park. Earl was quite enthused seeing the Joshua tree in bloom. The Cactus plants were all blooming in the desert which was a sight to see. Again all the travelers returning say "How nice it is to get home." Homecoming Ellen Gorss is getting along fine and here's hoping by the time you read this she will be home from the hospital. Scouts The Johnsburg Clover 4H Club presented a skit "Hi Ho Come to the Fair." at our monthly meeting of the Whispering Hills Community Center, Inc. In order to acquaint the association with the various projects. they displayed some of the items which they will enter in the McHenry county fair in August. Shirley May Wiley of Pistakee; Highlands,--their leader, told us about their activities which was very interesting and we all enjoyed having these young people with us. Western Trip Siri and Ed Hedborn have returned from a trip to Sun Valley, Calif. They visited Ed's brother and also took in some of the sights in SanFrancisco. Knotts Berry Farm was also a point of interest, and the weather was very warm and it was hard to get back to the cold weather in Whispering Hills as Ed was laid up with a bad cold. In Closing Sunshine and warm weather seem to help all of us feel good so I'm happy to report that our sick list is small. How's 'bout us staying that-a-way Bye, all you sweet people. During this time, charitable groups will be present to accept contributions for their worthwhile undertakings. To date, 7,000 persons have made tours of the "dream house". A tnlkative parrot greets the visitor on entering the home, and another perches prominently above the pool area. Shells collected in all parts of the world form a rare collection for the owner. One of the features of the residence is the tropical rain forest room which houses a tropically planted South Seas pool with its own island in the center and 20-foot palm tree on the island. Tikis from the South ^5ea isl ands are evident and a two-story high mountain waterfall flows into the pool and houses a hidden cave bar. It is' necessary for swimmers to pass under the waterfall, through a huge swinging rock door to enter the cave. Gigantic rocks form" a fire-, place constructed of 10,000 lb. boulders located between the family room and tropical rain forest room. Most of the rocks were obtained locally, except forsomevolcanicformations from California. The game room contains primitive tribal head hunters' equipment, as well as a unique collection of primitive art from the West Indies and the South Seas. A feature of the kitchen is an 'old fashion; chopping block in the center of the room, above which hangs a wheel containing copper pans. All contractors for the home were local except fbr the stone work. The house was designed by Mr. Behmiller's nephew*,* Robert Devine, whose idea originated from homes seen in Jamacia. THE CHURCH FOR ALL ALL FOR THE CHURCH The Church is the greatest factor on earth for the building of character and good citizenship. It is a storebouse of spiritual values. Without a strong Church, neither democracy nor civilization can survive. There are four sound reasons why every person should attend services regularly and support the Church. They are: (1) For his own sake. (2) For his children's sake. (3) For the sake of his community and nation. (4) For the sake of the Church itself, which needs his moral and material support. Plan to go to church regularly and read your Bible daily. A YOUNG MAN'S FANCY... ...und a girl's too Spring is talcing its romantic toll once again! But there's more to be shared in life than a cup of cola. So who knows whether this new-born affection will last •-- or, indeed, whether it should? Where character and conviction are formed, there the founda* tions of true love are fashioned. Perhaps then the Church makes a more significant contribution to romance than the warm breeze of May. For with the help ©f the home and the support of the community, the Church is training the brides and grooms of some later June to realize in a deep affection their responsibilities to themselves, to one another, and to God* Copyright 1S66 KeltUr Advertising Service, Inc., Slrailurg, V"<t Sunday Proverbs 2:9-19 Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Romans Romans II Corinthians Colossians I Timothy I Timothy 1:18-23 1:24-32 6:14-18 3:1-5 5:3-8 5:9-16 <212? t <22? + <22? + <22? t <22? + <22? + <22? + <22? t <22? t <22? t <22? t <22?
