Silver Wedding For Former Residents Twenty-five years ago as of Tuesday, June 7, a shy little miss of 18 by the name of Shirley Maurie Nielsen came down the aisle of Grace Ev. Lutheran church, Chicago, to meet her bridegroom, Arthur I. Olsen. Members of the wedding party included brothers of both sides of the family, Ted Olsen, Hank Nielsen, and this reporter. One year later, they welcomed their first child, Kaaren, now Mrs. Charles Gies. In 1944, Art was called into the service of his country and served as a motor machinist's mate in the Navy. First son, Arthur R., made his appearance in 1945. In 1948, Art went into the construction business with his father--Theodor, and the two families moved to McCullom Lake. The same year, they welcomed son, Allan. During their many years here, the two were active in all community endeavors. Shirley served with distinction in the Red cross organization and Art headed the Screwy Dozen (now defunct). They helped raise money for road improvements and community projects. In 1952, the couple built their lovely home in the new Country Club subdivision. They were overjoyed to welcome Linnea Jean in 1957, only to lose her because of a congenital heart defect when she was three. In the meantime, they were thrilled with the births of Taina now 8 and Lisa--5. The two are also the over joyed grandparents of Johnny and Jeff Gies. For a cause in which Shirley believes with her whole heart, she has devoted much time to the Heart Fund drive and has garnered thousands and thousands of dollars for the organization. Both Art and Shirley are special in the homemaking department-- she, in the interior, creating a haven of harmonious colors and tasteful furnishings, and Art tends the outside with his beautiful roses and fruit trees. In addition to her many duties, Shirley also provides invaluable nursing care at Mc- Henry hospital. At this most joyous milestone in their lives, may we join with their myriad of friends and relatives and wish them happiness and fulfillment in their very productive years ahead. Hospitalized in Woodstock Herman Langerbeck of Fountain Lane and Hickory Drive was taken to Memorial Hospital for McHenry County on Wednesday, May 25, for care and treatment. He had been confined to his bed for about V.it weeks before entering the hospital. Here's hoping you will remember him with a cheery greeting during His confinement. Trout Swallow the Hook Quota every day was the report Mary Kantorski made of the weekend fishing trip, she and her family enjoyed recently. Trout fishing proved to be most productive about 10 at night! How about that? THE WORLD IS WAITING... - > £ t •' ' A' V mm In ancient times the world waited breathlessly for every new king1. It was always man's crying1 hope, man's fervent expectation -- that under a new king the world would be different. Today we no longer put our faith in kings -- nor in any government that does not represent the people. We believe that tomorrow will be determined by the hopes and ideals of the young men and women who today prepare for their role in life. There aren't any Christmas bells at graduation time* But it would be well for us to remember those learned men the Wise Men -- who came across the desert to Bethlehem. They came to pay homage to a new-born King . . . One who did change this world. And the sons and daughters upon whom we look with fond hopes today must find their foundation of faith in the same Lord. With its ministry of teaching, its inspiration to service and sacrifice, the Church points their path to tomorrow -- and ours/ Copyright 1966 Ktiiter Advertising Soviet, Inc., Strtubvrg, Va. THE CHURCH FOR AU... ALL FOR THE CHURCH The Church is the greatest factor on earth for the building of character and good citizenship. It is a storehouse of spiritual values. Without a strong church, neither democracy nor civilization can survive. There are four sound reasons why every person should attend services regularly and support the Church. They are: (1) For his own sake. (2) For his children's sake. (3) For the sake of his community and nation. (4) For the sake of the Churc h itself, which needs his moral and material support. Plan to go to church regularly and read your Bible daily.
