SectionThree -- Pag# Four THE McHENRY PLAINDEALER Woioer Lake News EVELYN RASKE Cub Scouts Hold Pow-Wow Tuesday evening, May 24, Shore Hills subdivision park was all aglow with a magnificent con fire, to light the way for the Indian dancers, a fine group of boys from Belvidere, under the direction of Harold Mlinheit. Cub-Master Ward Ehredt opened the meeting arijd the pledge of allegiance was given. Mr. Ehredt then presented the following awards; Raymond Wenk Webelo badge and insignia; Jerry Robison 2 year pin; Jack Dusthimer Lion badge; Randy Mc Cafferty Bear badge and Gold arrow; Kendall Street Wolf badge, gold and three silver arrows; William Ruggero Wolf badge, gold and two silver arrows; Mike Lehr Wolf badge, gold and silver arrow and Denner stripe; Mike Bird Silver arrow; David Jackson Silver arrow and assistant denner stripe; Tommy Van Kanegan assitant denner stripe; Artie Weber gold and silver arrow and denner stripe; Ted Weiss and Mike Jones received assitant denner stripe and denner stripes. Two year pins were presented to Den Mothers, Marilyn Bacon, Dorothy Smith, Mabel Pike and also to Lewis Smith, Committeeman. A gift was then presented to PHONE 653-4362 Mr. Ehredt by the den mothers and committee men in appreciation for his leadership. The Indians still hadn't arrived so George Seibel, Leadership Trainee, from the Blackhawk area Council conducted the boys in some group singing which was enjoyed by all. He then presented Mr. Ehredt with his 3 year pin for adult l e a d e r s h i p . A n o t h e r g u e s t from the Council was B. Phelps, district field commissioner. All at once the Indians came onto the grounds, elegantly dressed. Many dances were performed, some solo, some as a group, but each was authentic. The final dance was the "Snake Dance" with the cubs joining in with much hullabaloo. The Indians then started their trek back to Belvidere. The Cub Scouts and guests roasted marshmallows over what was left of a beautiful bon fire. One by one they left, tired but happy the Pow Wow was over for 1966. Kiwanis News The trout that Bob Myers had promised did not reach him in time, so Bob surprised the Kiwanians with a steak dinner with candlelight no less. LIQUOR BAN IN PARKS The use of alcoholic beverages has been prohibited in Fort Chartres and Fort Kaskaskia state parks in Randolph county; Fort Creve Coeur state park in Tazewell county; Spitler Woods and Lincoln Trail Homestead state parks in Macon county and McHenry Dam state park in McHenry county. James W. McMillen, supervisor of state parks, said that the prohibition -- an administrative order signed by William T. Lodge, director of the Department of Conservation--is aimed at curtailing parties in these small parks which overtax the park facilities and infringe on the privacy of family campers and picnickers. The penalty for persons convicted of violating the order is a fine of not less than $25 nor more than $100, or, imprisonment for not more than three months, or both.
