It was a great day for Americans ! y Son Volunteers For Duty in Viet Nam . After serving over three years in the Air Force, Bob Kane, the son of Loretta arid Andy Kane, volunteered for duty in Viet Nam. He had been in Korea since last August ancl his parents were notified by mail of his decision. Although they have received no further communicatidn, they presume he reached his destination. Another young man who wants to do more than his share! Memorial Day Picnic Carrie Kurth and her daughter, Lorraine Boyle, were chiefs in charge of dispensing some 300 hot dogs (with mustard, relish, and catsup, if desired) at the beach following the dedicatory program. The women dispensed wit and good humor along with the chow, but they had some difficulty with those who came back for "foursies and fivesies". Male members. of the Cullom-Knoll association were generous in offering "bubbly suds" to the "over 21" crowd and soda pop for the youngsters. All in all. it was several' hours of rapport and good fun for members of the community and the club plans to repeat the gesture next year. Relative of Many Dies in Wisconsin Mrs. Frances Auman, 78, passed away in Willard, Wise., last Friday and services for her were held on Tuesday of this week. She leaves many survivors in the village and area. Her brothers include Alfonso of Lakemoor, Frank of Lakewood llo;.d and Joseph, Chicago. Two sisters are Sally Sullivan of Chicago and Anne Epp, Roselle. She is also survived by grandchildren Ronal Godina and Mrs. Virginia Jordan .both residing on W. West Lnne; Mrs. Carol Bateman, W. East Lane; Elayne Godina, Lakewood Road: I\ ancy Neuron, Klgin; and Terry Godina of Genoa. She leaves many g r e a t-grandchildrcn and one great-great-grandchild. Buttermilk Brown Bread % cup corn meal Vz cup white flour Vz cup whole wheat flour "pinch" salt 2 tbsp. sugar % tsp. baking soda 1 cup buttermilk % cup molassescup raisins Sift all dry ingredients together.
