Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Dowell, M r s . G e r a l d N e w m a n a n d daughter, Mrs. Carl Rietesel, were in Marengo Saturday evening to attend the wedding of a former McHenry resident, Mrs. Audrey McDonald Allbee, to Dr. David Sachtleben which took place at the First Methodist church with a reception following at the church parlors. The Ronald Conway family has moved from Mineral Springs to a place at 1607 I^drth Riverside Drive, which they have purchased. x Miss Joyce Adams was the guest of a friend in Chicago Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Bungard of Elmhurst called in the Irene Guffey and Joe May homes Sunday. The many friends of Joe May will be happy to know he returned home from Presbyterian- St. Luke's hospital, Chicago, Saturday, where he had been confined for several days, and is recovering nicely from surgery and a serious illness. The Harold E. Walter family of Cooney Heights recently returned from a two wgieks vacation through Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas and Illinois covering 3,000 miles. Several days were spent in the Lake of the Ozarks with trips to Bagnell Dam and the Meramec Caverns. The highlight of the trip was their visit to Six Flags over Texas which is in Fort Worth, which is similar to Disney Land. In Houston they saw the Ringling Bros, circus in the Astrodome, and also a ball game in the dome. A tour was made of NASA, the space center, and then a trip down to the Gulf of Mexico. A short stop was made at Hot Springs; Ark., where they saw the two uncovered springs. They visited relatives in Springfield, Mo. They also stayed with army friends in Houston, Tex.; Dexter, Mo.; Caseyville, 111. Their last stop was in Morton, 111., where they stayed with the Walt Deterdings, formerly of McHenry. Mrs. Mary Turner returned home Saturday from a two weeks visit in the home of her grandson, William Jordan, and family in Downers Grove. Mr. and Mrs. William Luxton of Sycamore were recent visitors in the home of Mrs. May Powers. Mrs. Walter Haufe of Neenah, Wis., spent Wednesday evening in the Fred Bienapfl home. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schmitt of Oakland, Calif., have been visiting her sister, Mrs. George Phalin, and also relatives in Barrington. Clare Whiting and a friend, Bill Lee, of Washington, D. II PAYS TO ADVERTISE VALLEY VIEW DAY CAMP ENJOYED BY GIRL SCOUTS Valley View neighborhood had Day Camp for its Girl Scouts last week. 180 registered girls and a nursery of forty took advantage of, the lovely camp site generously loaned to them by Mr. and Mrs. Harold Peters. The camp under the direction of Mrs.. Dorothy Dowell, boasted five Brownie units, four Junior units and one Cadette unit. Throughout the week the girls learned new skills in outdoor cooking, fire building, proper use of the jacknife and handicraft. One all camp project was stone trivets made completely by hand. A large thanks from all the Scouts to the twenty-five adults who so generoulsy gave of their tirrfe and effort to make this week of camp an unqualified success.
