Robert McClory of the 12th Dist. of Illinois for his skillful handling of the Narcotic Addict Rehabilitation bill which recently passed the House of Representatives. Congressman Robert McClory (R, Lake Bluff) has been named "Congressman of the Month" for June, 1966. The award was announced by Rep. W.E. (Bill) Brock of Tennessee who is president of the Republican 88th club. Congress man McClory was cited by his Republican colleagues for: "His skillful and successful handling of the debates on the Republican side on the Narcotic Addict Rehabilitation bill, and for successfully sponsoring amendments to the meaujre to make rehabilitation programs available to many nar- LOCAL CHURCH GROUP VISITS CHICAGO MISSION A small safari of eighteen young people and adults from Shepherd of The Hills Lutheran church braved the heat Sunday and drove into the heart of Chicago. There they were given a tour of the Pacific Garden Mission on State Street. The group was shown t he rescue mission's dormitories, eating and bathing facilities for over 250 homeless men. Next stop was Community Lutheran church, an American -Lutheran church serving Negro people in the vicinity. Community Lutheran has been served for eleven years by Pastor Valtinson and has 1000 baptized members and a Sunday school of 700. The, McHenry group took clothing to be distributed to the needy of Pastor Valtinson's congregation. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Klotz, A l a n O l s c n , M r s . The 88th club which made the award is composed of Republican House members who began their service in the 88th Congress. An overflow Crowd of 46,118 heard Nathan H .Knorr, president of the Watch Tower Society, at the. main session of the "God's Sons of Liberty" District Assembly of Jehovah's Witnesses. Dominick Fontana, presiding minister of the Woodstock Congregation, stated that Mr. Knorr's subject at the Toronto Exhibition Grandstand was entitled "What Has God's Kingdom Been Doing Since 1914?" Speaking to delegates from eight provinces of Canada, 45 states and 14 other countries, Knorr stated, "When the Messianic kingdom of God was installed in heaven, there had to be a worldwide proclamation of that new government of the universe, for that was to be the government for doing away with all the imperfect Gentile governments of the earth and for giving the people a perfect government." A new Bible-study aid, entitled Life Everlasting in Freedom of the Sons of God, was announced and released at the convention. Two million copies were printed in the first edition. At mass immersion services conducted in connection with the convention, 483 new ministers were baptized. Up to 8,000 of the delegates volunteered their time free of charge to take care of the working force and to maintain the organizational structure of the twenty departments set up to serve the convention's needs. ' The Toronto gathering • was the first of sixteen such .conv e n t i o n s a r r a n g e d b y t h e Watch Tower Society for Canada and the United States this summer. The next convention, with an identical program, was held June 29, at Corner- Brook, Newfoundland. McHenry Shop In ATTENDS SCIENCE COURSE Howard Brody, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Brody „of McHenry, is attending a six week summer science program for high school students, sponsored by the National Science Foundation. Howard, who will begin his senior year at McHenry high school 'in September, was selected to take part in this program and elected to go to Bucknell University, Lewisburg, Pa.
