He has joined up with Uncle Sam and his destination at this writing is damp Pendleton •near San Diego, Calif., where jhe will receive his boot trainiing, after which a furlough Mil follow, and then it's anybody's guess where he will be Istationed. I Carol misses him very much, counting the days 'till she's (with him again. j • June Weddings I "The Lehmans attended their | niece's wedding last week at •ja hall in Portage Park. Many {relatives and friends enjoyed [the dancing and delicious food. The Kunkles attended a wedding of their niece in Melrose Park. , There was a large reception in Western Springs and the Wedding took place in a Melcbse Park church. June Bridal Showers Mrs. Kinder attended her cousin's daughter, Judy Schneider's bridal shower last week in Lindenhurst. The little walk to the altar will take place July 23. Betty Lehman attended a bridal shower which was given in honor of her nephew's bridetb- be. The September nuptials will take place in a large hall in the big City with an orchestra and all that comes naturally at A wedding. Chris Williams attended a wedding shower last Saturday fjpr one of her best friends, Miss Siewkie of McHenry, who will , also be walking down that church aisle July 10. A Gift From A Neighbor The village children have benefited by a generous donation of sand which was contributed to Sunnyside for a fill at the beach by none other than Clarence Regner who will be duly rewarded in many ways. News Bits Bud and Marion Pflug packed all the kiddies, Ruth, Buddy, Cindy and Kathy, and took off to Crete, 111.; to a family picnic. After returning home they will have a niece as a house guest for a few weeks. Bonnie LaBay entertained all of her eighth grade graduation buddies at her home last week. Various- games were played, followed by a buffet luncheon with lots of goodies. Sandy Ambrose is back home from a vacation in Milwaukee where she and her children, Gale, Bruce and Valerie, spent a week with relatives. Don and Joanne Hawkins and their two girls, Linda and Dawn, were out to visit their friends in the Terrace before leaving f or Dallas, Texas, where they will make their permanent home. Family Reunion The Benoches, Jeanie, Joe, JeanieJo and Suzie attended a family reunion in Chicago last week. The event took place at Jeanie's brother Pete's residence. One of the participants celebrated her ninety-seventh birthday. A Miracle Millie Mondle conies to our attention once again and this time it is the sweetest bit of news we've had in a mighty long time. Mind you, Millie is coming home weekends for a while to determine when she will be able to come home for good, v Her husband and son, Danny, are amazed at her recovery and we are all happy about this devoted family being together once again. Some of\.their relatives came up from St.\Louis to spend the weekend. \ •< \ Entertained The Ken Joneses on Channel Beach had some relatives and their children from Cicero for a Sunday dinner, boating, and fishing. Also Mrs. Jones' sister from Richmond had a birthday party for her son Mark who is 3. Closing Time Again And also time for a bit of advice to our readers. God is giving us this beautiful weather for outdoor activities and I notice the papers are full of drownings and accidents. Be extra careful and Mama be sure you keep an eye on the little ones while they are in the water. Whispering Hills Mary and Alfons Lickteig's son, Bernard, who is stationed at Houston, Texas, was home to visit his parents. On June 22 he left from O'Hare Airport for Meyershofen, Austria. Bernard was chosen out of forty students from the Foreign Language Association. On his return in August he will study to get his masters degree. Vacationers Lill and Walter Fleming have their two granddaughters visiting them, Joyce Wilson from Mokena and Dianne Fleming, Chicago. The days are well planned with swimming and horseback riding on the list. Florence and Lefty Weber had their granddaughter, Pat, and her girl friend spend a week with them. They were kept busy picking strawberries and after that they had to be hulled and cleaned. AUG. 7 Sorry fellows, but the men's breakfast that was supposed to be on Sunday, July 3, wasn't held. There just weren't enough fellows to make it, because of the holiday so they decided it would be better not to have it now. There will be a men's breakfast held on Sunday, August 7, from 8 to 9 a.m. The junior choir will meet for a practice session on Friday at 1 p.m. On July 7, "THE LORD'S CELLAR" will be open fr6m 6 to 7 p.m. This is a new "adventure in eating experience" with swiss steak served for dinner. It was a bon voyage party in honor of the eighth graders, who will be leaving the junior high group to advance to the Sr. Hi M.Y.F. Jr. Hi M.Y.F. The junior High Methodist Youth Fellowship group en joymake a rock garden, and so ended a well planned vacation. An Extended Trip A trip to Rialto, Calif., was enjoyed by Marie and John Pavlovic. Their son Lloyd and family were glad to see them. They visited sister, Georgiana, in San Diego and they all attended Mickey Finn's studio singing old time songs. A great time was had at Las Vegas especially when your pockets are empty. One Day I saw a girl mimicking old people walking with a cane and she said "Whispering Hills". Children say the darndest things but some times they should be a little more considerate. Bye for now! W.S.C.S. Holds Secret Pal Meeting This is a notice of the change in plans for the secret pal meeting of the W.S.C.S. group. Instead of August, the meeting will be held on July 13 in the home of Blanche Howe at Keystone, near Richmond. This will be a dessert luncheon at 12:30 p.m. and for those of you who do not know where Mrs. Howe lives, or wish a ride, the ladies will meet at the Ringwood church at 12:15 p.m., where you will bo welcome to "car pool". New members are welcome to join the W.S.C.S. ladies group, a n d if you are interested, you may attend and bring a dollar exchange gift if you like. Since this is a fun meeting, children are welcome. The only members of the Low family unable to attend were Susie and Ed Erwin and daughter, Donna Lynn, who are presently stationed in Germany.
