Justen and Son fojjeral home for Richard Haucfit, 49, of 5513 N. Lake street, Pistakee Highlands. Rev. Robert I. Hatch of the First Bible Presbyterian Church of Kansas City f Mo., officiated at the last rites for his brother-in-law who died June 30 in McHenry hospital. Mr. Hauck was born Feb. 3, 1917 in Redding, Pa., and had been a lock tender for the State of Illinois. Surviving are his wife, Adele, and three sons, Richard F. of Fox Lake; Thomas D. of McHenry; and William J. at home; his mother, Mrs. Grace Hauck, and a sister, Mrs. Robert (Lucille) Hatch, both of Kansas City, Mo. He had been a resident of the McHenry area for the past 11 years. MARION O. CARDER Mrs. Marion G. Carder, 68, fcMfl Falls Lane, Wonder Laker died early Saturday morning, July 2, at McHenry hospital, where she had been a patient for five days. Mrs. Carder had been ill about a week with a heart condition. The deceased was well knqwi?. In Wonder Lake where she was assistant postmaster. She was Very active in the Wonder Lake Garden club. Born in Sheboygan, Wis., Dec. 21, 1897, she had lived in Chicago before moving to ^>nd| J£ Lake fifteen years ago. She is survived by her'Husband, Wallace D., two sons, Gustave G. of Glenview and William D. of Arlington Heights one grandson; one sister, Mrs. Olga Paddock of Wonder Lak$, * Funeral services were ' held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Peter M. JOSEPHINE MAY Mrs. Josephine May, 8010 Blivin street, Spring Grove, died early Saturday morning, July 2, at St. Therese hospital, Waukegan, where she had been a patient for two days. The deceased was 76 years old, born in Johnsburg, Aug. 7, 1889. She was a member of the Christian Mother^ society of St. Peter's church. She is survived by her husband, Peter, to whom she was married 55 years. They celebrated their golden wedding Nov. 24, 1960. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Clara Boppart of Woodstock, three §ons, Arnold M. of McHenry, Alfred W., Richmond, and Edward of Spring Grove; twentyseven grandchildren, ten greatgrandchildren; two brothers, Matt and Peter M. Schaefer of McHenry. Three sisters and a brother preceded her in death. Justen and Son funeral home for Edward Hendee, 88, who died Friday, July 1, at Land O'Lakes, Fla. Among his survivors are his wife, Maude, two daughters, Mrs. Laura Steffes of Land O'Lakes and Mrs. Ethel Newberg of Wauconda; and a brother, Clint Hendee of Round Lake. Survivors include three sons, Raymond, McHenry, and Frank and James, Chicago. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1 p.m.. in the Mee- Ramee^-funeral~home, Chicago, with interment in Ridgewood cemetery, DesPlain es. STEPHEN MAY A well known retired fnrmer, Stephen May, 75, of 4302 N. Spring Grove road, Johnsburg, died July 3 at his home. He was born in Johnsburg July 24, 1890. He is survived by his widow, Dena, two daughters, Mrs. Michael (Violet) DiPirro, of Woodstock, and Mrs. Edward J. (Joan) Buss of McHenry; seven grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Joseph (Dena) Rbthermel, also of McHenry. Mr. May was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, Court No. 96, of St. John's, Johnsburg Community Club and St. John's Holy Name society. The bodjr rested at the George R. Justen and Son funeral home until Wednesday morning when .Mass was read at 11 a.m. at St. John's church, Johnsburg, with burial in the church cemetery. CLARENCE J. STILLING A former resident of the McHenry area, Clarence J. Stilling, 52, died at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 3, at his home in Spring Grove following a 2% year illness. Born Oct. 12, 1913 in Mc-* Henry, he had operated farms in McHenry, Spring Grove and Antioch area. He was a member of the Antioch Lodge No. 525 Loyal Order of Moose, St. Peter's Catholic church, Spring Grove and the Holy Name society. -- On July 1, 1961, he was married to Ottie Rhode at Antioch, who survives him as do three sons, Gerald, Crystal Lake, Kenneth, McHenry, and Ted of Johnsburg, two daugh- Wis., and Diane of Johnsjburg, ters, Carol Ann of Jefferson, also two brothers, Joseph Huff of Richmond and Albert of Johnsburg; and one sister, Mrs. George (Martha) Oeffling, Sr., of Johnsburg. Manor Lane, Eastwood Manor, died Saturday, July 2, at St. Luke's-Presbyterian hospital, Chicago, where she had been a patient for three weeks. She was born Feb. 21, 1921, in Springfield, 111. She had been a Girl Scout leader in the McHenry area. Survivors include her husband, Edward, five children, Mrs. David (Sandra) Simon of Crystal Lake, Cynda Lou, Jacquelyn Mary, Pamela Lynn and Richard E., all at home; two grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Dick (Sarah ) Anderson of Crystal Lake, and two brothers, Harold and Glenn Lightholdef of Chicago. The body rested at the George R. Justen and Son funeral home. Services were held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic church with burial in North Lake, 111. MRS. BELLE NICHOLS A long time resident of McHenry, Mrs. Belle Nichols, 90, formerly of Green street, died in the Villa Nursing -home, T h u r s d a y , J u n e 3 0 . S h e w a s born Nov. 28, 1875 in Akron, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, in 1951. Her only survivor is a rtepttew, G.R. Miller, Jr., of Villa Park. Funeral services were held Saturday at 3 p.m. at the George R .Justen and Son funeral home with Pastor 'Donald Johnson of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church officiating. Interment was in Woodland cemetery. MRS. WILLIAM MOLNAIR Mrs. William (Carrie) , Molnaire, 72, of 3007 W. Lincoln road, McHenry, died unexpectedly Friday, July 1, at her home. She was born Jan. 1, 1894 in Chicago. She was a member of Fox River Veterans of Foreign War auxiliary 4600. Surviving are her husband to whom she was married for 45 years; two sons, Kenneth of Roselle and Robert of Hawaii; five grandchildren; and two brothers, Louis Westenfelder of Our Servicemen Marine Private Glenn P. Davis, son of Mrs. . Lois B*aubouff, of 722 Rand Road, McHenry, entered the U.S. Marine Corps at Chicago, ad a member of the "Tri-State" platoon. This platoon of Marine recruits, formed from Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan communities near Chicago, will remain together throughout recruit training at San Diego, Calif. - Marine Private George H. Moder, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Moder of 7319 Mohawk Drive, Wondw* Lake, was graduated fron/ Marine recruit training at the Marine Cbrps Recruit Depot here. During his eight weeks of intensified recruit training under veteran noncommissioned officer drill instructors, he/learned small arms marksrrfahship, bayonet fighting, and methods of self-protection. He also received instruction in military drill, history and traditions of Buffalo, N.Y., and Fred of Salt Lake City, Utah. The body rested at the George R. Fairview Avenue, Johnsburg, died about 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, at Memorial H o s p i t a l , W o o d s t o c k , w h e r e s h e h a d b e e n a p a t i e n t f o r about an hour and a half. She had been in poor health the last six months. She was born Jan. 1, 1915 in McHenry township, the daught e r o f M r . a n d M r s . P e t e r Smith, now deceased, and had lived her entire life in the Johnsburg area. She had been employed at Triwec Transformer company. Her husband, Henry J., preceded her in death in 1956. He graduated May 30 standing sixth in a class of twentynine. He is now servitig in Viet Nam. Stromstedt, whose wife, Elaine, lives in Pistaqua Heights, Box 883, McHenry, was commissioned an Army second lieutenant upon graduation from officer candidate shcool at Fort Eustis, Va., June 27. 1 During the 23-week course; L i e u t e n a n t S t r o m s t e d t w a s trained in supervising the transportation of military personnel and equipment by rail, water, land and air. He received extensive instruction in transporting combat troops and supplies over juhgle terrain. He was also trained in the operation and maintenance of vehicles used by the transportation corps. .• His father, Hugo Stromstedt, Chicago, and his mother, Mrs? lives at 3444 N. When I say we, I am referring to the Millstream Campers of McHenry. We have received inquiries as to the purpose or purposes for which the club was organized. 'i he purposes are as follows : "To educate and assist the members of the Millstream Campers, a chapter of the National Campers arid Hikers association, in the preservation and conservation of the beaulies of nature in the state of Illinois." "To educate and assist' thp members of the chapter in a campaign of safety in outdoor living." "To promote improvements in public camping and hiking areas where the need exists; to bring these recommendations before the proper state or national agencies; to press for action until the improvements have' been made." "To establish regional centers from which members untrails, etc." - , "To provide for a frequent interchange of camping and hiking ideas, and also to publish reports evaluating all types . of camping and hiking equipment." Next week we will list more of the purposes for which the Millstream Campers was organized.
