SacltoaTwo--7 Page Four THE McHENRY PLAINDEALER Thursday< July 14> 1966 BUSY SCHEDULE FDR DEMOCRATS IN MONTHS AHEAD A busy schedule will round out the months preceeding November's election in McHenry Township Democratic circles. At a recent meeting held at the home of State Representative Tom Hanahan in Sunnyfide, township committeemen discussed plans for events of interest to Democrats in the McHenry area precincts. A tentative date of Aug. 10 has been set for a com roast to be held in Wonder Lake. Planned as a family affair, the corn roast is expected to be highly successful and will give area voters an opportunity to meet and discuss the issues with some of the candidates on the November ballot. Plenty of free refreshments will be on hand. Tickets and further information can - be obtained from any McHenry Township Democratic committeeman. Rep. Hanahan disclosed that Sen. Paul Douglas plans to visit the Johhsburg arta sometime before November. Democratic activity in the Township won't cease with the election. The township organization hopes to sponsor a dance later in the fall. Another proposal of the organization, if approved by local Little League officials, will provide awards for the championship team of each sanctioned Little League in McHenry Township. The awards, in the form of a plaque for the team and individual medals for the players, will be presented by local committeemen. Township officers were elected at the June meeting. Harry Brady, Democratic precinct committeeman in McHenry 9, Lakemoor, was reelected chairman of the McHenry township regular Democratic organization. Larry Huck, committeeman ifi McHenry 3, McHenry, was elected vice-chairman. Jeanne Holm, committeeman in McHenry 17. Pistakee Highlands, was elected secretary and .Frank Hromec, McHenry 13, Lakeland Park, was retained as Township Treasurer. Stritar, 4714 Howard 6trect, McHenry, is celebrating his twenty - fifth service anniversary with Teletype corporation in Skokie. T. E. STRITAR Stritar began his career with the data communications manufacturer as a bench hand in 1941. Within the same year, he was transferred to the frame department as a profiling machine operator. In 1942, he was promoted to machine setter. 2n 1943, 1944 and 1945, Stritar was credited with adopted suggestions pertaining to the greater efficency of manufacturing operations. Stritar has been an active member of the Teletype Gun Club for the past three years. Stritar and his wife, Marie, have a daughter, Carol, who is a registered nurse. Senior Regent Gloria Flannigan turned the gavel over to College of Regents Chairman Mabel Thomas who conducted the meeting for the evening. The Red Tassel ceremony was performed for Alyce Kowal. Collegian Ethel Bruce will receive her red tassel at the, next meeting as she was unable to attend. The special award was given to Eunice Tobey. Quentin Goodrich, ACSW, director of the Division of Family and Child Care of Lutheran Welfare Services of Illinois, will speak at the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church, 404 N. Green street, McHenry, on July 17. Mr. Goodrich was recently appointed diredtor of the Division ,of Family and Child Care. He assumed his responsibilities in the new post July 1, 1966. He fills a position vacated June 30 by Mr. Robert A. COUNTY AUDUBON MEMBERS VISIT AREA STATE PARK The July meeting of the McHenry county chapter of the Illinois Audubon society will be on Saturday July 16, at the Chain of Lakes State park. This is a quiet time of year for bird watching in most places due to the heat and nesting duties, but last year's trip to this park was most successful as many species were seen. Members are asked to bring a sack lunch. After noon there will be a further trip to Milburn Marsh. The committee is made up of Larry Stout and Clarence Sparks. Rosemary Fosse and her committee are to be commended for the fine display at the Woodstock Garden club flower show. It was on the Ryder'f Woods Park project. Sharon Matterer, Judy Martin, Fcrol Tomlinson and Suzi Prawl have recently returned from attending the twenty-ninth n a t i o n a l c o n v e n t i o n o f D e l t a Z e t a s o r o r i t y h e l d a t G r a n d Bahama Island. Sharon is , the president of the Delta Zeta chapter at Eastern Illinois university and Judy is pledge trainer of the Delta Zeta chapter at the University of Illinois and is daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Martin, former pastor of the McHenry Methodist church now residing in Park Ridge. More than 725 women, representing 165 collegt chapters and 261 alumnae chapters, g a t h e r e d t o m a k e p l a n s for the future progress of Delta Zeta which was founded in 1902 at Miami university, Oxford, Ohio. Delta Zeta, through its philanthropic program "Ad,ventures in Friendship," each year gives a grant to the Ameri c a n H e a r i n g s o c i e t y t o h e l p establish new htaring centers or to enlarge the service of existing centers. The sorority also assists Gallaudet college, the only college devoted entirely to the instruction of the deaf, ly to the instruction of the deaf. Delta Zeta college and alumnae chapters also help in the Navajo Assistance, Inc., program as well as "adopting" blind patients at Carville, the only hospital in the U.S. where the victims of Harisen's desease are treated.
