PMA ANNOUNCES MILK RAISE FOR DAIRY FARMERS All dairy farmers participating in the milk pooling program launched by Pure Milk Association for the Chicago market will be paid $4.92 per Hundredweight for Class I (bottled) milk beginning with July 11 deliveries, A. L. Mc- Williams, PMA general manager, announced today. This new Class I price is 30 cents higher than the $4.62 superpool level which dealers have paid for Class I milk since February. As a result, dairy farmers in the PMA pool will receive 10.58 cents per quart of bottled milk compared with 9.93 cents per quart under the $4.62 superpool price. The higher Class I price was announced following negotiations between a PMA committee composed of Avery A. Vose, president; Robert J. Van Liere, secretary; Martin Burns, legal counsel, and McWilliams, and representatives of Associated Milk Dealers, Inc., Chicago. Under the new pricing program, Chicago market producers in the PMA pool will be paid on three classifications of m i l k -- C l a s s I , C l a s s I I a n d Class III. The price of Class II milk, which is used primarily in making cottage cheese, will be the Wisconsin Minnesota manufacturing milk price of the preceding month. Class in will include milk u s e d p r i m a r i l y i n m a k i n g butter, cheese, nonfat dry milk. and ice cream mix. Prices paid on milk going into these products will be substantially higher because of this new pricing program and the in? creases in dairy support prices which the government announce ed as effective July 5.
