On Saturday all the relatives camc up here to visit and enjoyed a buffet dinner in the garden. Mildred hadn't seen the baby for 6 months so there was quite a change as she is now starting to walk with the help i>f. her daddy. They left on Wednesday for Brookings, S.D., and are. being missed. Incidentally, the Lisses ore now retired and are enjoying a well darned rest. Beach Duty On the 13th D. Houghton is in charge of the clean up operations at the beach and his co-vyorkers are T. Elia T. Filman, C. Geds, R. Jonas, and E. Wevik. There have been quite a few complaints from the boys in charge that most of the men slated to help do not show up or call. We realize that the week assigned to you is not always convenient but it is certainly not fair to let all he work to the conscientious ones that do come down to do their beach duty, so if you can't make it call your leader or get one of the boys in the Shores to do your part. Wi'iing Workers A great big hand to a group of our residents who spent most of Wednesday at the beach painting benches, cutting down the high weeds and generally cleaning up the area. Here And There Tom and George-Ann a Filman hosted a luncheon swim party for their daughter Michelle's fourteenth birthday on Sunday, July 31. Those enjoying the pool and the food includeed Carol Olszewski, Pat and Anthony Koleno, Mike Wetzel, Eddie Wieciek and Kathy Dundes a friend from Chicago. Cynthia Ram age enjoyed a week's vacation with her grandma and swam and got acquainted with the children around the area. Happy to report that Henry Peters is back home after his operation and improving every day. He probably can't wait to get back to his fishing. Lucille Jacobs had a group of fifteen women in for a demonstration on Wednesday evening and all relished the delicious refreshments after the meeting. Howie, Joyce, Beth and Lee Lexow camped out for three days last weekend pitching their tent at the state Park in Zion. They can't wait o do i again as they all had ball. On Tuesday Julie Zeimet accompanied her mother and father and drove to Menominee Falls to visit their cousins and an aunt. On Saturday, seventeen relatives gathered to visit with Matt's brother, Harry, who has not been feeling too well after a stroke, Mr. and Mrs. John Stroberg and their child drove the parents up here. During the week friends, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hasternock, popped in unexpectedly from Chicago so the Zeimets have been having plenty of visitors. Have you had your vacation yet? Instead of the 14th. the old fashion picnic will be held on the following Sunday, Aug.21. The festivities for the day will include all that it takes for a good old fashion picnic--food, games, prizes--to be held at the picnic area of the river beach. The Cub Scouts of pack 468 had an exciting evening on Saturday, July 30 . when they traveled to Lake Geneva for the stock car races. Adding to the excitement, a welcome to Cub Scout pack 468 of Holiday Hills was announced over the loud speaker at the speedway. Spellbound by all the noise and excitement, the boys had no trouble sitting still. Those who went were Gary Connell, Jim Haufe, Jim McWilliams, Danny Ohlsen, Roy Breede, Glenn Exline, Alan White, Bobby McWilliams, Ron Minter, Billy Krause, Jerry Krueger, and young Rickey Connell and Wayne McWilliams. The adults were Bill Krause, George Minter, Hank Haufe, Jack Connell, Kay McWilliams and Marge Connell. cups and silverware will be furnished by the pack. Activities will, include races, games, badminton, swimming and a bonfire. In case of rain the picnic will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20 (Ahem, that's the day before the HHPOA picnic). Bob Stevens Returns To San Diego Bob Stevens, nephew of Herb and Arlene Hill, spent his recent 30 day leave with them here in Holiday Hills. Bob returns to his base in San Diego to await further orders. He has one more year of service to complete. Connelis Vacation Marge and Jack Connell and their family traveled 3600 miles on their 17 day vacation recently. They are campers and plahned their vacation so that they spent a part of the trip sightseeing and another just relaxing. Doing their sightseeing first they headed for Colorado and spent a week in Pike National forest. They saw the Royal Gorge and drove their car up to Pikes Peak. Amoung other things they also toured the Air Force Academy. Another week was spent in Rocky Mountain National Park and here they hiked mountain trails swam mountain streams and caught mountain trout. A most enjoyable vacation, but it won't be long before they pack up and head out for another spot, I'm sure. Cub Scout Picnic There IS a picnic on August 14 but it is the Cub Scout picnic. All Cub Scout families are invited to a picnic on that day at the bottom of the hill in Le Villa Vaupell. Activities will begin at 3 p.m. and go on until 8 p.m. Each family is asked to bring enough meat for their own family plus a dish to pass and 1 gal. of cold ade. A fireplace and grills will be available for those who wish to cook-out. Dessert coffee, plate, Women of the Moose The Women of the Moose held the Aug. 2 meeting with twenty-one members present. It was called to order by Senior Regent Gloria Flannigan. Mooseheart Chairman Eleanor Hurly received her chapter pin and Carmella Miceli her publicity hand book. A new member is Elsie M. Smith.
