Romto 120 McHenry, Hi LINNEA NEWBERG With the Labor Day holiday marking summer's last fling for many, the time approaches for the opening of autumn's busy round of benefits and ther events. Among these, and looming pleasurably on the horizon, is the autumn luncheon of the McHenry Woman's club, which will be held at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 21st, at the McHenry Country club. Highlighting the program for the afternoon will be Linnea Carlson Newberg Swedish humorist, who promises a sparkling, delightful presentation with her role as- Tora Torkelson, star reporter, in "Tora Gets The Scoops." Miss Newberg is a versatile performer who has appeared before mixed groups and clubs throughout the Chicagoland and Illinois area. Mrs. Hugh Locker, president will be chairman of the day, with Mrs. Donald Gerlitz, vicepresident, on hand as luncheon hostess. McHenry Hospital On Aug. 30 a son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Harold Nixon. Mr. and Mrs. Karl Weisenberger became parents of a daughter Aug. 29. A son was bom Aug. 30 to Mr. and Mrs. Gordon LaDean of Cary. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Livingston of Richmond became parents of a son Aug. 31. A Grayslake couple, Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Wegener, announce the birth of a daughter Aug. 31. On Sept. 1 Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Anderson welcomed a daughter. Mr. and Mrs. James Baugh of Crystal Lake are parents of a daughter Sept. 3. Other Births Mr. and Mrs. James McGee of Streamwood announce the birth of a son, Kevin James, on Aug. 16 at Sherman hospital, Elgin. Mrs. McGee is the former Barbara Wolf, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Wolf. The paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Harry McGoe of DesPlaines. The baby has a sister, Karen, 2V2 years old. Memorial Hospital Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Keevil, Jr., announce the birth of a daughter Aug. 30. A daughter was born Sept. 4 . to Mr. and Mrs. Harold Morris. Other Births Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Majercik announce the birth of a son at Sherman hospital, Elgin. The summer 6f 1964 was spent in Honolulu, Hawaii studying authentic Hawaiian and Tahitian dancing. One week each summer Mrs. Gardiner advances her professional training in Chicago with the Chicago National Association of Dance Masters studying all forms of Dance with leading chorographers throughout the country. She is an active member with this association and also with the Dance Master of Wisconsin to bring to your children the very latest and approved teaching methods. Mrs. Gardiner has owned and operated the Nancy Gardiner School of Dance in McHenry for the past seven years, and has choreographed many musicals for theater groups. Mrs. Gardiner was fortunate this summer to have studied with three world-famous ballerinas and a reknown male ballot star -- Violette Verdy and Melissa Hayden, New York City Ballet, and Ruth Ann Koesun and John Kriza of American Ballet theater. Mr. and Mrs. James Blake, Jimmy and Laurie Ann were guests in the home of his sisr ters in Delphos, Ft. Jennings and Glendorf, Ohio, over the Labor Day weekend. Misses Janie and Jeannie Phannenstill were visitors in the home of their sister, Mrs. Dick Antonson, in Evanston a few days last week. Gerald Blake vacationed at Birchwood, Wis., the past week. Mrs. Bill Bicknell and children of Hebron were callers at the Frank Meyer home Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Yanda of Cloquet, Minn., arrived in McHenry last Tuesday for a few days visit in the Paul Yanda home. They came at this time especially to visit their uncle, Paul Yanda, who is convalescing nicely in the Woodstock Residence, Route 120. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ulrich and Miss Helen Modine of St. Charles were Labor Day guests in the home of Mrs. Rita Ulrich. Mrs. Robert Knox, Mrs. Albert Foley and Mr. and Mrs. Martin Foley attended the wedr ding of their nephew and cousin, James J. Mahoney, and Miss Diane Dobbertin at St. Genevieve's church in Chicago, HAKRISON PTA REVIEWS VITAL COLLEGE ISSUE Of interest to many Wonder Lake residents, and especially those with youngsters, is the Junior college issue. In keeping with, its continuous effort to keep parents informed and promote adequate educational facilities for its children, the Harrison School PTA will start its new year on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 8 p.m. by having a representative of the junior College Association for McHenry County provide all the details of the proposed school. Since this is a Vital issue to all concerned, the public is cordially invited to attend this meeting and hear, first hand, of the plans being made. New president, Gloria Freund, will offer a budget proposal for the new year, and a vole will be taken. Legislation Chairman Ardell Bell will explain the two revised by-laws which affect our local, and which were recently adopted at the National PTA convention. Faculty and school board members will again be introduced by Merl Thomas, school principal. PTA memberships and PTA m a g a z i n e s u b s c r i p t i o n s a r e Saturday, and also the reception which followed. Miss Patricia Conway of Chicago, a classmate of Joyce Adams at St. Therese School of Nursing, Waukegan, was her overnight guest Sunday. Mrs. Agnes Wissell spent the Labor Day weekend in Hebron in the home of her daughter, Mrs. James Cornue, and on Monday was guest of honor at a family reunion at the home of her son James Wissell, there, in observance of her birthday. Mr. and Mrs. William Martin of Sterling were weekend visitors in the home of his sister, Miss Rita Martin. priced low. DOROTHY CURRAN TO BE GRADUATED FROM UNIVERSITY Diplomas for 1,217 summer graduates of the University of Illinois now are being prepared. The total includes 417 undergraduates and 800 advanced degrees. As there is no summer commencement ceremony, preparation of diplomas is begun only after all grades are reported and verified. The diploma Will be mailed about Oct. 15. Among those to receive degrees is Dorothy Curran 207 S. Curran road, Bachelor of Arts degree.% Honor Communicant At Family Party Marcia Tanner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Varney Tanner, received her first holy Communion recently at St. Mary's Catholic church. The next evening she was honored guest at a party held at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Williams, attended by about twenty-five relatives and friends. Marcia made the long trip alone from Washington, D.C., by plane on June 20 and spent the summer with the Williams family. Her parents came Aug. 15 to spend two weeks with relatives and friends before departing for Turkey, where Mr. Tanner will be stationed with the American Embassy and the U.S. Air Force. Mrs. Tanner is the former Lucille "Sis" Weber. i Annette Langer Is Christened The infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Langer of 3505 W. Washington street, McHenry, was christened Annette Elaine at a baptismal ceremony solemnized in St. Patrick's Catholic church Sunday, Sept. 4, at 1:45. Rev. Fr. Beauvais officiated at the christening rite. Godparents for the baby were Elizabeth Jane Freund, aunt of the baby, and Kenneth Lishamer, a friend of the Langers. Later in the day dinner was served at the Langer home. Guests were the baby's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph M. Freund of McHenry and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Langer of Whitehall, Mich.; also Miss Elizabeth Jane Freund and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Lishamer and son.
