Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. sharp. Bowling Starts Saturday The Lakeland Park Couples Bowling league will bowl its first league game this Saturday evening at 9 at Johnsburg. We have lost a few of our bowlers from last year, so will have a few new faces among us. The new bowlers are Sue and Dennis Gibson, Pat and Jack Butler, Nancy and Larry McClure, Mary and Jim Daurio and Hank and Flossie Kawa. Those who bowled last year are Ted and Ev Kaminski, Bev and Jim Wickenkamp, Jo and Lee Mai, Joan and Roy Apel, Donna and Ray Ride, Jessie and Bob Matthews, Clar and Eleanor Haerle, Dolores and Jerry Rogers, Max and Shirley Koch, Arlene and Frank Bartos Shirley and Mary George, Jay and Ev. Boy Scout Troop 452 The Boy Scout troop 459' is now starting on their fall schedule with meetings every Monday evening from 7p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Jim Cble is the Scout Master. Any new boys who have had their 11th birthday are eligible and welcome to come out. Lets have a good turn out for the first meeting which is to be Monday, Sept. 19, at the Community house at 7 p.m. Brownie Troop 464 No more registrations for Brownies can be accepted as our troop has reached its capacity. The date for the first meeting is Sept. 27 at Mrs. Wickenkamp's house at 4316 W. Clearview. The time is 3:15 p.m. Brownies are not to wear their uniforms until they have been invested the first part of November. Mrs. Matchen receivod a letter from Ken's commanding officer commending him. A surprise birthday party for Marv George was given by his wife Shirley last Saturday evening, with 10 other couples joining in the fun. Roger Emery and Carole Matthews joined in a birthday celebration at the Cole home last Sunday when Debbie Cole celebrated her 2nd birthday. . Mr. and Mrs. Richard Peters helped their daughter and husband, Bob and Dorothy Moore, celebrate their 11th wedding anniversary on Sept. 10 by taking them out to dinner and then to see a play. Our very best wishes go to this couple on their anniversary. Jim Wickenkamp came very close to winning a golf trophy last Sunday when he tied for 2nd place with three other men. All were one stroke over the winner of the tournament at Fox Lake. Debbie George celebrated her birthday last. Friday with a party. The kids had a good time dancing and playing games. Helping^Debbie with her party were Shirley Meurer, Mary Johnson, Chris Jaenicke, Barbara Tiffany, Nancy Matthews, Roberta and Wendy Quast, and Alana Hendricks, The Labor Day weekend was very quiet at the Humann household with Don off on a fishing trip with the men. He and Chuck Pierce plus five more "aficianados" tested their skill against the scaley monsters of the deep up in the Chippewa Flowage. We aren't too sure who won the contest but they sure had a good time. Paul Cynowa should just about be through with his recent run of ill luck. He no more than had a sling removed from a badly injured elbow when he collided with another boy at school and required six stiches to close the gash in his nose. To make things more difficult he's allergic to the tetanus vaccine and is required to have a diluted injection for ten days in a row. What next, boy? Ron and Jackie Creutz and Tommy have just returned from a trip to Atlanta, Ga., where they visited McHenryites, Joan and Tom Keenan and Judy and Ron Clem of Chicago. While they were there they visited a key club and were entertained by singer, Jamie Lyn, better Known* in Wonder' Lake as Mary Etheridge! They had a wonderful time swimming an dseeing the lovely scenery. On the way back they drove through the Smokey Mountains and stopped for several hours in Knoxville, Tenn., to visit with Jackie's uncle, James Skidmore. That was a fully packed week and they would like to return again another time-but home is nice, too. Michelle Koch received her First Holy Communion at St. Mary's church last Sunday. The solemn occasion was celebrated with due honors by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Meilahn, and aunt Helen, and aunt Ruth and uncle Bob Lafreniere and family and Great - Grandmother, Helen Pi ante. The birthday on Monday for her Mama, Shirley, also was cause for celebration. Joann Schabow and Kathy Becker attended a Senior Scout camp-ference at Camp Augustana near, Lake Geneva over the weekend. The weather held for swimming in that wonderful water and tennis was available among loads of other activities. They returned Sunday evening in time to hit the books for Monday's classes. Doris Schabow attended a baby shower Sunday for her cousin, Janice Tvorah. The babyto- be jumped the gun and was born on Saturday, so his grandmas stood in for the new mommy and opened all the lovely gifts. Saturday evening Don and Carole Humann were guests of his folks at a restaurant on the far North side of Chicago, as were his brothers and their wives and Hank and Marie Potgeter of Allandale, Mich. Jim and Mary Daurio attended a wedding in Chicago and had a good visit with Jim's sister. who lives in California. They hadn't seen each other for four years. That just proves what they say about wakes and weddings to catch up on all the old friends and relatives. Sunday was a day of hubbub at Daurios when a full house of assorted kinfolk descended upon them enmasse. You get just as tired when they come seperately, Mary. . Ed and Rose Oswald spent the day, Sunday, in Evanston. First on the agenda was dinner with daughter, Blanche Geishecker, and family and the finale was a hot game of pinochle at the home of friends from way back. The Labor Day weekend was one not too soon forgotten for those kamping fanatics. The weekend began Friday night for Drumls and Kamps with a treck to Devil's (ahem) Lake in Wisconsin. On Saturday they hiked around the Dells area which has some of the most beautiful scenery in this part of the country. They were joined ©n Saturday by the Laursens, who brought Debbie Gladman along. It was a normal, nutty weekend till Pam Laursen fell and required 18 stitches to close the gash in her leg and Patti L. broke two front teeth during a hectic game of hot ootato and Jim L. cut his arm, but only in an ordinary way. Vith the jinx of three over and done with they settled down ror the rest of the normal, nutty weekend. Guess it' sbest to ge it all over with at once so everyone can stop worrying over who's next! Barbie Humann had a wonderful birthday when the mailman arrived with a large box containing a huge fluffy teddy bear. The new member of the family has been dubbed Judy. What else! How Can Q. How can I remove perspiration stains from fabrics? A. On unwashables, sometimes only dry.-cleanlng is the answer. But first try sprinkling water-moistened cornstarch on the area, brushing off when it has dried. On washables, 1 if ordinary laundering falls, Sponge the spots with vinegar. Q. How can I remove ink spots from wallpaper? A. Touch lightly with water and apply a blotter, then treat with oxalic acid. If the color of the paper is affected by the acid, touch up these spots with water colors or a crafyon. Q. How can I forestall the annoyance of having some of my decorative candles bend and droop? A. By giving them a coat or two of clear varnish or shellac before the hot weather sets in. Q. How can I clean plastic furniture? A. This should be dusted regularly. A damp cloth is usually all that is needed. It can be washed with a mild soap or detergent. Rinse with at cloth wrung out of clear warm water, and wipe dry. Seldenfeld has announced the appointment of William J. Gleason to be a magistrate of the Circuit Court of the 19th Judicial circuit, effective Dec.l. The order, signed by Judge Seidenfeld and Circuit Judges William M. Carroll, Philip W. Yager and LaVerne A. Dixon, was filed Friday morning with Margaret O'Neil, Circuit Clerk at Woodstock.
