The meeting is to start at 7:30 p.m. Little League Meeting Next Wednesday, Oct. 26. the Lakeland Park Boys Baseball club will hold their meeting at the Community house at 8 p.m. This will be the first meeting with the new officers. Welcome Party a Success Those who were able to ; come out to the welcome party last Thursday evening had a marvelous time. The theme was Halloween with cider a n d d o u g h n u t s s e r v e d throughout the evening and a b e a u t i f u l l y d e c o r a t e d c a k e and coffee later in the evening." Games were played with a lot of talking fljpd getting acquainted going cm also. We hope that those who came, <®> will also join us at our next Woman's club meeting on Nov. 3. Boy Scouts Change Meeting Night Boy Scout troop 459 has c hanged their meeting nights from Monday evening to Friday evenings from 7 to 8 o'clock. They meet at the Community house. Next weekend, Oct. 28, 29, and 30, they are planning a cam pout at Lake Geneva. Jim Cole and Ron Bierman will accompany them. They are planning to leave from the community house at 6 p.m. Brownie Troop 464 The Brownies of troop 464 attended their second meeting last week, enjoying the beautiful fall weather by going outside for some rope jumping. The girls are also learning their promise and Brownie laws in preparation for their investiture. Their treat for the day was brought by Tracy Wilkens. Girl Scout Troop SM Girls who are going on the Cam pout with Girl Scout troop 320 should be at Mrs. George's home by 6:30 p.m. th^5 Friday evening with all of their equipment ready to go. Don't forget, your rain gear is to be packed on top or separate so it can be reached easily in case of rain when they get there. Their destination is Chapman Hills in Wisconsin and they will be there from Friday evening until Sunday afternoon. Hope the weather will be good for you girls. Strolling Through the Park From the bottom of my great big feet, 1 want to thank Kay Druml for filling in while Don and the kids and I "roughed" it; in the North Woods on the Chippewa Flowage. She makes it pretty tough to follow up this week. So now that our mutual admiration society has been adjourned, I'd like to say that this was probably the most wonderful weekend we've spent together. The trees were at their peak of perfection and such a range of colors could only come from the Master Painter. A week later we're having a tough time remembering the gorgeous sight as it really was. Incidentally. the fishing was AOK and we'll be enjoying fish fry through the winter to whet our appetites for next fishing season. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Luing's grandson, James Luing. son of Mr. and Mrs. Armond Luing of Carpentersville, called Friday rnght and said he was home on a thirty day furlough from Vict Nam. He has been stationed on the U.S.S. Pvro and has served 3 years in the China Seas. He will be home till Nov. 28 before returning to his ship, where he has one year left to serve His brother, Dennis, who was wounded in Viet Nam is still there but hopes to return home soon. The Luings are really happy to have Jimmy home as they have three grandsons serving in Viet Nam. Besides Jim and Dennis, Robert Luing, son Of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Luing of Schiller Park is there. A big welcome home parlywas held for Pfc. Dennis Kozicki who called from O'Hare airport at 6 a.m. on Friday morning. He had just arrived from Viet Nam after being discharged. The big homecoming celebration was held on Sunday at his parents home on Clearview Avenue. Joining in on the festivities were his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Breier of Johnsburg. his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Ed King and their three children and his sister. Kathleen, and her (iance, Tom Schaffer. This is probably the happiest homo for miles around. Johnny Hickey is home for a thirty day leave before joining his unit in Viet Nam. Ray Franklin is probably on his way back to San Diego after a furlough. He is looking forward to further training in his field of electronics some time in the winter. Ed Schultz left last week after a twenty day leave. He brought loads of souveniers of his journeys through the Orient home to his family. He is stationed at San Diego for the next six months while the ship, is being readied for further sea duty. In talking to Mrs. Schultz we learned that Mike McEnery is stationed in Iceland. God bless and protect all our boys, who are serving their country, where-* ever they might be. T h e w e e k e n d w a n d e r e r s . Rose and Ed Oswald, spent several days in Decatur visiting with Ed's sisters. Dora and Ella Oswald. Oh how the qns stations love these two. A surprise baby shower WHS held on Sunday evening for Carol Fandre at Rae Burns' home. After the shock was over the mommy-to-be opened many packages of tiny clothes and goodies. Kitty Hendle has gone ape -over her brand-new stainless steel sink. Doesn't take much to make some gals happy. The mink farms will go out of business if this is" a new trend. Sunday was a busy day at t h e K w i a t e k s . N o r b a n d Murph and Norbie had a family get-together with Ab and Nancy fiwiatek. Ray and Ann Kwiatek and daughter, Patricia, with Grandma Kwiatek to complete the party. Don't know the occasion but we're sure they had a ball. Craig Cynowa, who has •-boon known to lead with his .chin on occasion, was faked out Sunday when the skin just plain wore out. He started 1 he day off with a bang that required four stitches. Carol and Ray are contemplating a permanent move to the clinic till their boys grow up. Welcome to Rich and Else Reining who h&ve moved into their new home on Willow Lane. TTiey and their German Shepherd moved in over the weekend and we hope thev enjoy their new home. Lecil Cappsl Kathy Flanni- <r;in's new hubby, was hospitalized for a day after a fall while horseback riding. The saddle broke and he received hack injuries requiring xrays and such things. Hope every thing is all right. Carol Cynowa's folks. Mr. and Mrs. Gartze. spent Sunday with them and brought her aunt and uncle, E d and Dorothy Schmidt, and daughter. Janet. of Manitowoc. Wis. The two cousins especially enjoyed the visit as they hadn't seen each other for awhile, ^anet. who is a nurse, gave Garol a few tips to file aw^ for the nexl time one opfhe boys takes a nose-dive. Stan and Ivy Lezak have sold their home and have purchased a resort in Spooner. Wis. Stan will remain here till Spring and Ivy will be in Wisconsin till after Thanksgiving. They will be staying, with Ann Herzog through the winter. Their new address is Siesta Camping-Shangri - La Lodge, Inc.. Box F-. Spooner, Wis. They will be in par** nership with Bob and Helwa Hanford of McHenry. They surely will be missed by everyone. Art and* Kay Kurbyun have purchased the ' Lezak home and we sincerely hope they will be happy in their new community. Our deepest sympathy is extended to the Barwigs on the death of Eleanor Barwig's mother, Catherine Gonia on Oct. 8. She spent many summers with the Barwig family and will be missed by all. Also to the Perry family on the death of Bill's uncle, George Perry. Ed and Kay Druml, who celebrated 25 years of togetherness and Bill and Bette Kamp who mark 18 years on the marital milestones had a dual celebration last Saturday evening. They went out for dinner and/in. the case of those Drumls, it was courtesy of their two yong sons, Dennis and Kevin. Our hats off to Ed for twenty-five years with the same woman! Irv and Dottie Becker ^entertained Harold and Helen Jones last Saturday evening and were joined by Jim and Mary Daurio after their bowling session. - A big welcome to Clyde and Mattie Magnesen who rec dntly moved into the Hare residence. They lived in Orchard Beach for twelve years before joining our community. They have three grown children and ten grandchildren. Gerry and Lloyd Wagner had a night out on the town and enjoyed v delectable Chinese, cuisine in Crystal Lake. Get-well wishes to Rita Hahn who was admitted to Rockford hospital last week. We're sure she would enjoy a cheerful card or two beihg such a distance from home. Our good neighbor award should go to Dolores Belohlavy who opened her garage during the terrific rainstorm last week as a bus shelter for all the bedraggled and wet youngsters who wait for their bus at Beach and Home.
