CROOK Miss Beatrice Barbara Uedtke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Liedtke of 4101 Oak Ridge road, Crystal Lake, became the bride of Mr. James David Crook, son of Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Crook of 1718 Beach road, McHenry, exchanged nuptial vows in a double ring ceremony at the First Methoodist church, Crystal Lake on Oct. 8. Attending the bride were Virginia Olafson her cousin, of Elmhurst and Joyce Moran of Lake in the Hills as bridesmaids, and Kim Crook of Wonder Lake as flower girl. Ray Bujak, Jr., of Wonder Lake served as best man and groomsmen were Donald Crook and Kenneth Crook, brothers of the groom, Dale Olafson and Donald Schiff were ushers. Following a trip through the southern states, the couple will make their home in Cary. The new Mrs. Crook attended McHenry high school and the University of Wisconsin. She is employed at Uedtke Bros. Co., in Chicago. Her husband, attended McHenry high school, served in the Army for two years (one and a half years in Germany) and is employed by Tower Finance Woodstock. Elena's Local Couple Engaged To Wed PATRICIA GRABOVY MARRIED SATURDAY IN CHICAGO RITE Our Lady of Mercy church, Chicago, was the setting for a beautiful wedding on Saturday, Oct. 15, when Miss Patricia Ann Grabovy of Wonder Lake was married to Mr. Leonard Joseph Winkeler of Bartelso, 111. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clemence Grabovy of 3113 Edgewood drive and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Winkeler. The ceremony took place at 5:30 in the afternoon. Miss Grabovy walked down the aisle wearing a floor length gown of peau mist with Venetian lace trim. TTie bodice was fashioned with oval neckline and bell sleeves, while the A-line, empire skirt featured a detachable chapel length train. Her headpiece was ol tulle petals trimmed with pearls, to which an-- imported illusion bouffant veil was attached. The bride carried a bouquet of stephanotis with pearls in each flower and Amazon love lilies. Hie snow white of the flowers was set off by varigated glacier ivy net and lace. She also carried a crystal rosary, a gift of the groom. Attending Miss Grabovy were Edith Grabovy, her sister, as maid of honor; Ann Shlensky of Chicago and Inez Peickert of Berwyn, both college friends; and Dorothy Zarkovich of Chicago, a col-. lege roommate. They wore floor length gowns, empire styled, of emerald green velvet bodices and nile green crepe skirts. Their headpieces were Nile green petals with circular veils. All of them carried bouquets of autumn- toned pom pom chrysanthemums, puffy cardones and wheat adding to the fall effect. Judy Horstman of Bartelso was flower girl. Ralph Winkeler of Los Angeles, Calif., served his brother as best man and groomsmen were Ron Freund of Woodstock, Nick Piediscalzi of Chicago, a cousin of the bride, and Dave Gries of Roanoke, HI., college roommate of the groom. Ushers were Frank Albanese, godfather of the bride, and Carmen Piediscalzi, her cousin, both of Chicago. Mrs. Grabovy wore a coral- colored crepe dress with matching accessories and a corsage of Amazon lilies. Mrs. Winkeler chose a midnight blue dress with matching accessoreis and a similar corsage. A reception for 125 guests' was held at the Como Inn, after which the young couple left on a trip through the southern states, stopping at the Ozarks and Smoky mountains. They will reside at 306 S. Beveridge, Carbondale, 111. The bride is a 1960 graduate of Harrison school and in 1964 of McHenry high school. She is a junior at Southern Illinois university in the school of education. The bridegroom graduated from St. Cecelia grade school and from St. Mary's, Techny. He is a senior at Southern Illinois university, from which he will receive his degree in financial management in December. Upon graduation, he will go to Army officers' school. He is a member of Alpha Kappa Psi fraternity. Observe Golden Wedding MR. AND MRS. ANTON H. FREUND Mr. and Mrs. Anton H. Freund will celebrate their golden wedding on Oct. 22, with a Mass in their honor at 3 o'clock in St. Mary's Catholic church McHenry, followed by a reception at 5 o'clock at the Johnsburg Community hall. Their friends are invited to call at an open house to be theld at the Johnsburg hall from 7 until 10 o'clock. Mary Freund and Anton H. Freund were married on Oct. 25, 1916, in St. Mary's church by Rev. Fr. Berthold. The attendants at their wedding were Mrs. John Schaid and Mrs. Joseph L. Freund, bridesmaids; Mrs. Henry Schmitt, flower girl; Nick B. Freund and John P. Freund, now deceased, groomsmen. Mr. and Mrs. Freund farmed for thirty-two years in the West McHenry area, and then moved to their present home at 903 Center street. The Freunds have a daughter, Mrs. Fred J. SANDRA FAIRCHILD Mrs. Elizabeth Fairchild of McHenry announces the engagement of her daughter, Sandra, to Michael Mayfield of McHenry, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Schroeder of Warrenville, formerly of this community. Miss Fairchild is a 1966 graduate of McHenry high school and presently is employed in the city. Mr. Mayfield served in the Army and at this time is employed in Northbook. A November wedding is planned. Mr. and Mrs. William J.f Meyers of Johnsburg will observe their sixtieth wedding anniversary on Monday, Oct. 24. A Mass in their honor will be read at 8 o'clock in the morning at St. John's church. A small family celebration also is planned. Margaret King and William J. Meyers; exchanged vows before Rev. Fr. Mehring in St. John's church on Oct. 24, 1906. They have lived all their married life in the Johnsburg community. Both Mr. and Mrs. Meyers are in good health and keep busy with their home and family .Mr. Meyers still maintains a large, well-kept garden. She is a member of the Lady Foresters and Blessed Virgin sodality, and he belongs to the Holy Name socity, Foresters and Johnsburg Community club. For many years Mr. Meyers was a partner in the Artificial Stone Co. in McHenry. The couple had ten children, five of whom are living: Laura Meyers, William F. Meyers and Elmer G. Meyers of Johnsburg; Mrs. Walter M. Freund (Annabel) and LeRoy E. Meyers of J McHenry. Four children passed away in infancy and a daughter, Mrs. Irving» Schaefer (Evelyn) in 1949. Mr. and Mrs. Meyers are also the proud grandparents of fifteen grandchildren. Miss Schmitt Weds Zion Man Before the beautiful altar of St. Mary's Catholic church, decorated with bouquets of yellow and white carnations, Miss Patricia Ann Schmitt ^ became the bride of Mr. Robert A. Griffith on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 1:30 p.m. huptial Mass celebrated by Rev. Fr. Eugene Baumhofer. Miss Schmitt is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis J. Schmitt of 1207 S. Crystal Lake road, McHenry, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Robert Griffith of 2809 Gabriel avenue, Zion. The church choir sang the Mass and Carol Merkel, a friend of the bride, sang "On This Day O Beautiful Mother" while the bride placed a bouquet of white carnations on the altar of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The radiant bride wore a floor length gown of silk mist taffeta with pearl trimmed re-embroidered alencon lace. The bodice was fashioned with an oval neckline and lace ruffled sleeves, Empire waist with an A-line skirt with a detachable chapel length train which was fasttened at' the shoulder by two bows. Her headpiece was a crown of pearls and borealis with imported illusion bouffant veil. She carried her first communion rosary, and a handkerchief given to her by her late grandmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Schmitt. Mrs. Judy Richards, sister of the groom, of Zion, was matron of honor. Mrs. Theresa May, cousin of the bride, of Johnsburg and Miss Marne Griffith, sister of the groom, Zion, were bridesmaids. Miss Mary Beth Knox, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Knox of Crystal Lake, and godchild and cousin of the bride, was the lovely little flower girl. The older attendants were dressed in floor length gowns of emerald green kloque and chromespun taffeta, fashioned with oval neckline and short sleeves, empire waist with separate floor length coat. Bows of matching color with blusher veils were worn in their hair. The flower girl's dress was made similar to the bridesmaids, but was re-designed by Mrs. Estelle Klapperich, godmother and cousin of the bride. Attending the groom as best man was Dale Schmitt of McHenry, brother of the bride. Groomsmen were Raymond Griffith, brother of the groom, of Zion, and Therin Ottobacker, friend of the OFFICERS OPEN ALPHA THETA'S 1966-67 SEASON v The following officers opened the first 1966-67 meeting of the Alpha Theta chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma society at the Clarence Olson school, Woodstock, Monday, Oct. 10: President, Cecile Morris, Crystal Lake; first vice-presidents Helen Curran, McHenry; second vice-president, Gladys/Wilson, Marengo; recording secretary, Bertha Fyfe, Crystal Lake; corresponding secretary, Marcia Wright, Crystal Lake; parliamentarian, Ruby Pierce, Woodstock; treasurer, Ethel Raue, Crystal Lake. The next meeting of Alpha Theta chapter will be Saturday, Nov. 19, at Shady Lane Marengo. This is the annual meeting for initiation of new members Badger Beauty groom, from Waukegan, Master Charles Richards, nephew of the groom, of Zion, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Richards, was the ring bearer. A cousin of the bride from Elkhorn, Wis., Kenneth Schmitt, and Charles McGarrihan, friend of the groom from Zion, were ushers. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Schmitt wore a two piece green dress with beige accessories and a pink rose corsage. The groom's mother was attired in gold crepe with lace tunic, with brown accessories and a white rose corsage. A reception was held at 5 p.m. at the Johnsburg Community club for 300 guests. Following a plane trip to California for two weeks of sightseeing, the young couple will live on Millstream drive in McHenry. The bride is a graduate of McHenry high school in 1963 and of the practical nurse program, in Waukegan in 1965 and will be a licensed Poetical nurse at the McHemry hospital. Her husband graduated from Zion Benton high school in 195S and served in the United States Army for 2 years, spending 6 months, in Ttaly. He is service manager for Goodwin Handling Equipment Co., in Crystal Lake. LYNN REIHANSPERGER Pretty Lynn Reihansperg er, daughter of Mr. .and Mrs H. C. Reihansperger of 390: W. Kane, McHenry, has beet named a semi-finalist in com petition for the title of Bad ger Beauty.
