Dogft, Dogs and More Dogs Dogs are running in packs again in Lilymoor. Not only are they knocking the garbr. be cans over and dragging the trash around now they are tearing sheets right off the clothes linos. I^ouise Epperson hung her sheets up last week and when she went out to hang up more clothes^ the dogs had torn the sheets right off of the line, I understand the sheets are good for rags now, and as a lot of us know sheets are not cheap when buying them. If these dogs can tear .. sheets to shreds what can they do to a child? When dogs are in a pack a child hasn't a chance. Dogs should be fenced in or tied up so they can not run loose. POST OFFICE AIDS PATRONS ON ZIP CODES Postmaster L e R o y M. Smith has expressed appreciation to the hundreds of McHenry postal area residents who have been cooperating to a plan to add ZIP codes to personal mailing lists. On Oct. 19, all residents received a card from their car- • f ies; whicii, requested that they enter their uncoded addresses on the card and return to the postmaster, postage prepaid. (No postage necessary). He urges all those who have not yet sent in their "Zip-a- List" forms to do so. As part of a nation-wide program, the postal service will add the ZIP codes to personal mailing lists. Every household in the nation has been sent forms with blanks for addresses to which residents wish the post office to add the five number codes. "It's not too early to think of adding ZIP codes to your Christmas mailing 1 i s t," Postmaster Smith suggested. "Also, it would help us greatly if you would print each address." "Postmaster General O'Brien has said that we must do all we can to make ZIP codes completely accessible and this is part of that program. Local ZIP codes are also available in the business pages of the phone book and directories in post ofice lobbies. The ZI Pcode number for McHenry is 60050. A special ZIP code information section has been set up at th<> Post Office. Its phone numl> er is 385-0816. "Personal and social mail accounts for more than 20 billion pieces annually." Mr. Smith encouraged mailers to use the ZIP codes on all addresses because with it mail moves by a more direct route and is handled fewer times. In filling out the forms, householders arc asked merely to list the addresses not the names i>f their corres- . i>ondents. Incomplete addresses which are submitted but cannot be ZIP coded by the local |x>st office, such as those in a city like Washington. D.C.. which has the same street names and numbers in the northeast, northwest, southeast and southwest sections, and these designations have not been included in the address, will be sent to the appropriate city and the codes will be added there. Postmaster Smith emphasized the importance of including the return address on the front of the cards so that h i s e m p l o y e e s W i l l k n o w where to retlirjiy them after the five number codes have been added. He also noted that extra cards will be available for those requesting them.
