PAGE 6, SECTION 1 - MCHENRY PLAIN DEALER - OCTOBER 27, 1966 REVISE BUDGET FOR MENTAL HEALTH CENTER JOSEPH CilTUN GEORGE MALLY The board of directors of the Mental Health Center for McHenry County has revised its projected budget if the ental health referendum ses this November. The revised budget for the tax year 1967--to be collected in 1968--would be for $65,000. It would request this from t h e c o m m u n i t y M e n t a l Health board, a figure $10,- 000 less than the amount announced earlier so funds could be channeled to help the mentally retarded. The Mental Health center request would mean a tax levy of less than 2 cents per $100 dollars valuation, well below the 10 cents per $100 dollars valuation allowed by law. Joseph Gitlin, president of the Mental Health center board of directors, explained that the ten-cent figure is included as a part of the ballot because that is in keeping with the state law authorizing such a referendum. Just how the center would make the best use of added funds was outlined today by George Mally, administrator of the centor. Among the uses: 1. Added staff members to take care of the increased patient load. 2. New program making psychiatric consultation available to hospitals in McHenry county at each hospital if desired. 3. Addition of a mental health educator whose job would be' t,o help educate the public in all aspects of mental health. 4. Addition of a psychiatric nursing staff member to aid in home visits to patients. Mally said no construction is involved in the Mental Health center plans. The organization will continue to rent its space, the most efficient way for it to have adequate headquarters. Meanwhile, endorse m e nts of the mental heal^i referendum have been formally adopted by the McHenry Kiwanis club, Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce and McHenry Classroom Teacher's association, District 15. Added endorsements are expected. On Halloween millions of American children would rather share than scare -- they will Trick or Treat for UNICEF and save other children's lives. To some people, it is a retailer's own brand created with selling price first in importance and quality second. • To us at A&P, it's the opposite. Quality comes first. Value.. .the best for the least is the rule for our private brands. If this wasn't true, bow foolish we'd be to invest, as we have, literally millions of dollars in processing plants and testing laboratories. If all we wanted were products we could sell cheaply without quality control, anybody could produce them for us. The idea of quality private brands isn't new at A&P. As a matter of fact, it's one of our oldest policiesand by golly, we're proud of it. Are A&P Private Brands a good reason for shopping A&P? They're one of many.
