Serving on the committee for this evening are: Lu LaBay, Martha (Joe) Freund, Caroline Deidrich, Donna P^icek, Marie Frett, Lucille Michels, Theresa Miller and Martha (Leo) Freund. All members are urged to be in attendance on this meeting night which will begin at 8 p.m. • Hospital Patient* We are so glad to see Bill Haag out and aroupd after Spending a couple of days in the McHenry hospital as a result of smoke inhalation. He was overcome while assisting to extinguish a recent fire*. "Bill is a member of Station 2. Mrs. Loretta King of Dutch Creek Woodlands entered the McHenry hospital last Wednesday. She underwent foot surgery there on Thursday. Hobbling is what she will do for awhile but if everything Koos as expected, Loretta will be home by the time this comes to print. Get well wishes to all our "under the weather" people. Peisert Baby Baptized Wayne ^Stanley Peisert, second son of Bob and Clarene Peisert, was officially baptized on Sunday, Oct. 30 ln St. John's church. His sponsors were his aunt, Mrs. Robert (Junille) Shaft, and his uncle, Stanley John Freund. Wayne who weighed a tiny 2 lbs. 6 oz. at birth five months ago, is doing extremely well now according to his mother. Dinner was served in the Peisert home to thirteen guests after the church service. Freund will be surrounded "by their relatives and friends at a reception in their honor to be held in the Johnsburg Community Club hall next Saturday evening. I can well imagine the Freunds are extra happy as their son, Jinv and his wife from Florida are here to spend this happy day with them . Joe and Barb will be observing wedding anniversary number 50. They will be doing their celebrating in the community club hall a week later on Novl 19. The Michelses wish to invite their friends to help them celebrate this day by attending their open house after 7:30 p.m .that evening. To them also we wish muoh happiness as well as health <# the years ahead. School Association To Hold Informative Meeting The next meeting of St. John's Home and School Association will be held in the community club hall on Nov. 28. All members are cordially invited to be present at this all-important meeting as the guest speaker will be Victor Constanza who is associated with the McHenry Mental Clinic. Mr. Constanza will talk on the physiological development of children. This should prove most interesting to both the mothers and fathers. The officers of the association hope that parents will show more interest this year in participating at these meetings. For the first time, the association has as its officers, husband and wife teams. The co-presidents are Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Olsen, covice- presidents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred May, and ways and means are capably handled by Mr. and Mrs. Bill Haag. Toys For Orphans All junior members of the National Catholic Society of Foresters, (formerly Women's Catholic Order of Foresters) of St. Agatha court 777, are asking to bring a toy or two with them to next Mond a y ' s m e e t i n g . T h e s e t o y s will bo made ready for the orphans for Christmas. Toys given for this^ collection are to be in working order an not broken. Anyone else wishing to contribute to this collection, may do so by contacting any of the directors or members. Father Weideman will be guest speaker at this meeting. All junior members should try to be in attendance at this time. Fifth Addition Welcomed Mr. and Mrs. Joe Frett are in line for congratulations this week upon the arrival of their newest granddaughter. An 8 lbs. 13 oz. girl was born to John and Cynthia Knox at the Sherman hospital in Elgin on Oct. 28. Knox children are Danny 8, David 6, Kathy 5, and Cindy 4. Diane Marie is the name for the new addition to the Knox family. Sincere best wishes to all. News Tidbits Belated happy birthday wishes to young Dave Hiller who was 5 on Oct. 30. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Michels, John, Barbara and Marilyn, Miss Melinda Might of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Harry May and Bill May traveled to Fostoria, Ohio, over last weekend to attend the silver wedding anniversary of Clara's brother and wife, the Frank Bugners. The group really ran into some bad weather' on the way down. An eight inch snowfall hindered their way for miles. C l a r a w a s v e r y g l a d t h e y made it to the celebration as she was maid of honor at the wedding twenty-five y e a rs ago. Guests in the home cf Catherines and Barbara Althoff on Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Berna of Elgin, Mrs. Agnes Wegener and Catherine Biere, both of Ingleside and Mrs. Gertrude Wagner of Volo. Financial Help Sought The members of the Johnsburg Community Club are once again asked to help their club. Previous to last Saturday's dinner-dance, a letter was sent to members by Clarence Regner,soliciting chairman, requesting help financially. As we all know, the annual dinner-dance is the only fund raising event the club has throughout the year. Needless to say this is not sufficient to pay off the building's mortgage and keep up with the current expenses. Any contribution will be greatly received, no matter how large or small. This is your club so why not support. Contributors may send their donations to Mr. Regner or may give it to any of the officers. Mr. Regner hopes to have everything in order so he may give a report at the D e c e m b e r m e e t i n g . G i v e whatever you can, as soon as possible. And "away I go" for another week. Come on out and support the women who stand behind the men who are over ready to standy by you. • New Club Expands Several local men have taken on the project of expanding the Young At Hearts club broadscope of activities by setting up a wood working area and alsp are planning to encourage an exchange of ideas on hobbies. The wood working project will be under the direction of Anthony WiUig. For the exchange of hobbies, guests are asked to bring either a display or suitable material on their hobby for the purpose of introducing new hobbies to the hobbiest. As guests fnqm such surrounding communities as Woodstock, Johnsburg, and McHenry are expected, retired and semi-retired men are urged to attend the Nov. 16 meeting. Cards and bunco are also on the agenda for those who wish to play. Training Events Covers Pow-Wow An event for the Cub Scout committeemen, leaders and den mothers will take place at the First Methodist church. Crystal Lake and Dole Avenues, Crystal Lake, Saturday, November 12 at 3 p.m. There will be a session in crafts, games, ceremonies and administration. Each pack attending will have an opportunity to show many of the items their cubs have done during the past year. Den Mothers, here - is a chance to get additional ideas in what and how to do department. / Kiwanis With the Bear-CarciltMl game on television and the Halloween pranksters outside. President Bob Howe conducted a short meeting after dinner. Bill Cristy reported that on the program for Farm- City Week will be a speaker from Oliver Farm Equipment Company. Lennie Freund offered to make a new Battle Ax Box for next week. The 1967 Officers will be installed the first week of January. Guy White announced he has received the film for next week's program on the Masters Golf Tournament. Sympathy Deep sympathy is extended to Nels . Johnson, 7408 Parkwood drive and to Mr. and Mrs. C. Christensen, 3317 Wonder Lake road on the death of his wife and their daughter, ifaargaret. Deep sympathy is also extended to Father Gaynor of Christ the King parish on the recent death of his grandfather, Peter Gaynor. Mrs. William Carroll," Jr.. ..chairman of, the nurse scholarship program, reported that eight girls now are in training under this program. The woman's auxiliary a w a rds each girl a three-year scholarship worth $200 a year. The girls agree to return to Memorial hospital to begin their nursing but the money is an award and they are not expected to repay this $600 investment in their future. Mrs. Louis Schustik told auxiliary members that her committee has made 336 puppets and distributed tfhem to children who were patients at the hospital during the past year.
