Wonder Liie News EVELYN RASKE PHONE 65S-4M* LESTER SELLERS CELEBRATE SILVER WEDDING DATE The twenty-fifth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Sellers, 7705 Brook Road, was celebrated on Nov. 5 with an open house given by their son, John, his wife and daughter. Bouquets of roses were, received from their friends, Mr. and Mrs. James Hardy, Highland Park, and also from Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Mohiese of California. A delicious buffet dinner was served to aill their many friends who dropped in to wish them well. Among their guests were Margaret Coughl i n , P a t r i c k C o u g h l i n , t h e Fred ^Houser family, Matt Houser and daughter, Joy, all of Chicago; Larry Zimmerman, Long Lake, the John Zimmermans, Algonquin, Miss Miss Millie Hartmann, Tinley Parte, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Bergquist, McCullom Lake, and the Steve Ryders of Highland Park. The Wonder Lakers included; the Larry Meinbergs, the Otto Srotir, the John Carlsons, the John Lucarz and family, the Art Brands, the Roy Mc- Calls, the Robert Bennetts and Donald, the Pete Brenners, the Lees, the Charles B r u t k a s , A l g a Z e a m a n , t h e William Hartungs, Joe Zack, Fred Dickman, and William Mann. Christ the King News There will be no church school (CCD) on Saturday, Nov. 26 or Sunday, Nov. 27.1 This also applies to the high school Sunday Seminar. All classes will resume on Saturday, Dec. 3 and Sunday, Dec. 4. Young At Hearts • At the last meeting of the Young At Hearts, it was deided to have a Christmas rty at the Dec. 21 meeting, the past members are into return to this meeting and enjoy a nice day. There will be a dollar grabbag gift, wrapped and designated for a man or woman, after the pot-luck lunch that is being planned. Plan to attend the next meeting, Dec. 7 for further plans and information. Men are more than welcome to attend and bring their crafts or hobbies for display. Forty Years Agd (Taken from the files of Nov. 25, 1926) The Fox river bridge is soon to be commenced, making the third bridge to be in the course of construction in this vicinity. Several car loads of equipment were unloaded here the first of the week, such as piling and machinery, which will be used. The footing for the bridge across the mill pond was completed this week and work will soon be started on the cement work for the piers of this bridge. The foundation for one side of the bridge over Boone Creek is also completed. Miss Marion Krause entertained twelve of her friends at a birthday party at her honie on Sunday afternoon. Games were played and a five o'clock dinner was served by her mother. The body of George J. Sayer was brought to McHenry on Monday and placed in the mausoleum in St. Patrick's cemetery. " '\ William E. Smith of Ringwood, age 70, father of Mrs. H. C. Hughes of McHenry, died at the Janesville hospital Nov. 24. John Pint left Wednesday for a trip to Germany where he will visit a sister and brother and other relatives who live there. Anton Schneider, age 62, was fatally wounded as a gun accidentally discharged as he was getting into a boat near ; his home on Fox river. Mr. Schneider had lived in and near McHenry for the past fifty years. He bought the lot on the corner of Riverside drive and Pearl street where he erected a two story building in which he conducted a grocery store, while he and his wife occupied the flat above. He was engaged in business at this location for twelve years when he sold out at which time he assumed charge of the Chapel Hill golf course as caretaker until the time cf his death. Mark Zimmerman of McHenry was one of three top award winners at the annual county 4-H achievement night. Mark, for several years a leader in the electrical field, was awarded a $200 scholarship donated by the Commonwealth Edisn company of Chicago. There are four of these awards for the entire state. St. John's church, Johnsburg. was the scene of a beautiful wedding ceremony Nov. 10 when Mtes Betty Ann Stilling became the bride of Mr. Herbert J. Hurtt. William Holly, son of the Warren Hollys. who entered service a few weeks ago, is now stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. Rev. Fr. William Collins, assistant pastor at St. Pattrick's church since late last summer, suffered serious eye injuries in an accident.
