The day was mode especially memorable for him when he found that his sister Madbnna, a senior at St. Mary's college, Notre Dame, had taken two days away from her studies to make the long trip and pin the bars on her brother. McHenry residents will also be interested to know that Lt. Casey met Patrick Buckie, an ensign in the Navy stationd in the South. Lt. Casey will arrive home Dec. 16 for a two-week leave with his family. GRAND OPENING Saturday, Nov. 26, will mark^the grand opening of LuciUe's McCullom Knoll Inn at McCullom Lake, located at the corner of Gate 6, (Hickory drive) and McCullom Lake road. There will be special awards and an orchestra for diincing. Pollock, a McHenry representative of General American Life Insurance company, St. Louis, Mo., ranked among the company's top ten agents in the amount • of total insurance production during October. The second building unit of the First Baptist church of McHenry is scheduled to be completed early in 1967. The' church, which is located south of town on Rt. 31, completed the first unit three years ago. This siecond will provide classroom space in addition to office and library rooms. Educational activities in the church include the regular Sunday morning Bible classes for all ages, and weekly youth organizations. These youth > o r g a n i z a t i o n s meet cach Sunday evening at 6:30 with other outside projects. Mission Group Trip The Royal Ambassadors, a mission group for boys, are making plans to attend the state RA Congress in Salem during Thanksgiving vacation. To be eligible for this t rip each boy mpst pass a ranking step which includes Bible study, church projects and sports activities. An educational program for adults is also promoted. In addition to the regular Sunday morning Bible classes, courses in teacher training, Christian growth and doctrine are presented on Sunday evenings and during the week at regular intervals . Diplomas in Christian training are awarded to the workers completing the required courses. Orville Richardson is director of training and Bill Miller is building chairman. EREN8T SCHOOLEY Ernest Schooley, the new Standard Oil dealer at Elm and Richmond in McHenry, received , a diploma certifying his successful completion of a three-week training course conducted by Standard Oil division of American Oil company. Schooley and his wife, Patricia, are the parents of five children. The Schooley family lives at 5219 W. Victor drive in McHenry. Dr. William J. Gillesby,! Crystal Lake, an outstanding retired chief of surgery for a Chicago area hospital, is a member of the associate medical staff at Memorial Hospital for McHenry County, Woodstock. Approval of Dr. Gillesby's request to be admitted to the medical staff was confirmed at the regular board of directors meeting in October, Jack Byers, board president, has announced. Author and co-author of medical articles for many medical journals, Dr. Gillesby has participated in many programs sponsored by various surgical societies during his distinguished career. Dr. Gillesby retired recently as chief of surgery at the west side Veteran's Administration hospital in Chicago. He was also assistant chief of surgery at Hines Veteran's hospital. Dr. Gillesby is certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American KBoard of Thoracic Surgery. He is presently clinical professor of surgery at the Univeristy of Illinois. RECEIVES PROMOTION Geoffrey S. Moss, son of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Moss, 411 N. Mineral Springs drive, McHenry, has been promoted to sales manager in Illinois Bell Telephone's Oak Park district. He now resides at 341 W. Taylor St., Lombard,---qrith ..his wife, Karen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Thompson, McCullom Lake road, McHenry. They have one daughter. Moss joined Illinois BelfMfi June, 1965, and has served in\ Bellwood as a salesman and account salesman, his most recent post. He graduated from McHenry Community high school In 1957, and subsequently served -two years with the U.S. Air Force. He received his degree in finance from Northern Illinois university in 1964, and is presently engaged in graduate study at Roosevelt university. UNDERGROUND STORAGE Underground gas storage in Illinois has doubled in the last five years, according to an interim report made to the state Board of Natural Resources and Conservation by John C. Frye, chief of the Illinois State Geological Survey. Storage reservoirs have grown from 11 to 22 and capacities have increased from 180 to about 340 billion cubic feet of gas. On the coldest days in midwinter about half of the gas used in the Chicago area comes from underground storage. SUNDAY'S A SERMON ATTENDS SEMINAR Mrs. Shirley Harms was among those attending the seventeenth annual tax seminar sponsored by the Independent Accountants' association of Illinois, including mem bers from the entire state of Illinois at Peoria Nov. 17, 18 and 19. The program included a range of professional lecturers in taxation and .accounting, pension plans and the fair labor standards act. In addition the seminar was addressed by Jay G. Philpott, Springfield district director of Internal Revenue service. DECLARE DIVIKDISMW The board of directors of Modine Manufacturing company has declared a quarterly dividend of 22% cents per share on the outstanding capital stock, payable Dec. 12 to all share holders of record Dec. 2. Recount, if you can, the many times that fortune has smiled upon you and things have gone your way. Do this, and you will find some reason to be thankful.
