Weekend Trip John Davis who is stationed at Fort Rucker, Ala., spent a wonderful weekend in Silver Springs, Fla. It was especially nice because when he left Alabama it was raining and Florida was nice, warm, and sunny. When the weekend was over, it was back to. Alabama and there was the rain awaiting his arrival. Thanksgiving Celebrations We were not able to get all the holiday news in last week becajJsfc of the Friday deadline, so here is the rest of our families who enjoyed a wonderful _ Thanksgiving day. The Iliggenses spent the holiday at home with Denise's mother joining them for a turkey dinner to also celebratc her birthday. T h e S t o f f e l s e n t e r t a i n e d Dorothy's mother from North Chicago and her two sisters ;ind their families from Liberty ville and Waukegan. The Fuquas went to Lisle lo si>end the day with the Senior Fuquas. Earl and Bernice Fry had house guests over the Thanksgiving weekend. Earl's mother and father and niece from Pennsylvania came on Thursday and spent four days. On Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Fry, Earl's uncle, came to spend the day. Everyone had a wonderful time and a full weekend of visiting. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Davis and daughter entertained Jack's mother on Thanks- Riving. Lou was very fortunate to be relieved of the holiday routine, as Jack treated everyone to a delicious dinner at a restaurant in Richmond. The Michels home was the scene of a double celebration last Thursday. Frank observed his day late this year when he celebrated on Thanksgiving. His children and grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. William Gies and children of Berlin, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Warren Hager and children of Woodstock and Dorie and Roy Gowin and children, all joined in to help Frank make his day a very special one. Mary Rose especially enjoyed this Thanksgiving as she could completely relax without having the extra household chores that go into the making of a special holiday. Herb, Mary and son, Don. ate a most delicious meal at a restaurant in Richmond. The Voights gathered at the home of June's parents in Chicago making a total of eighteen family members from near and far who had a most pleasant day. Nov. 24 just happened to be a holiday this year but for twenty years it has been Charlotte Gerke's birthday. She is a student at Illinois State Teacher's • college but was able to get away for a four day vacation with her family. She enjoyed a birthday and Thanksgiving dinner with her parents, Jean and Dick, her sister, Darlene, and their relatives, Mr. and Mrs. Ix>o Polit and Mr. and Mrs. Ncal Polit and children, and of course that someone special in her life, Dave Armit. Later that day Charlotte and Dave went to Chicago to see the hockey game. The Farley family went into Chicago to Marge's sister where thirty happy, hungry relatives met. Bob and Betty Lakowski and children visited Bob's brother, Larry, in Chicago on Thanksgiving Day. Also there were Bob's mother and his sister, Grace, and her husband and daughter. The Boomficlds gathered in Antioch at Ginger's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Allen. There were twenty-one in all. James Edelmari III shared" his birthday this year with the traditional Thanksgiving bird. He did not think it seemed Ike a birthday until his cake "and ice cream was served. James. I guess you are kind of glad your birthday is not on Thanksgiving every year. On Thanksgiving the Johansen house was almost bulging at the seams with so many people having a good time. It was not only a Thanksgiving celebration but they were also observing Emma and Gunnar's birthdays. They were so delighted to have their two daughters and their husbands and their ten g r a n d c h i l d r e n a n d s o m e friends spend the day with them. They all presented Emma and Gunnar with nice gifts which completed a very perfect day. P.J. and Karen Schneider and Ed and Mary Ellen Wickman and their children went to Grandma Schneider's in the village for dinner. The Eichhorns joined the family at Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Eichhom in Round Lake. The Segerstroms went to Chicago to the home of Sally's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W i l l i a m M o r r i s o n , w h e r e twenty-one members of the clan gathered for , much eating and talking. If wishes could bring you a day full of cheer, here is enough for your birthday and all of the year. Pranksters We have a report about a street sign being pulled up on Dennis Avenue several times and thrown in the street. This was done during the evening hours and it is needless to say the dangers of such a prank. Also the street sign by the bus shelter is ready to topple over. We have to bring up the subject of the bus shelter again. On Wednesday a.m., Nov. 30, a few boys pulled a section off from the side of the shelter. Please have a talk with vour children. I am sure the children appreciate this shelter when it is windy, snowing or raining and the day might come when the men will gel sick and tired of repairing and repainting this structure. Birthday Party After school on Wednesday, Nov. 23, C'indV Simmons was host to/s^ven girls on her ninth birthday. Joining in on the party festivities, were Darlene Gerke, Heather Seipman, Pam Bieschke, Melody and Merily Fail, Maureen and Monica Davy.s.^' Sympathy . Mrs. Lottie Holtfodt passed away on Nov. 26, after a heart attack. She and her husband resided in the Estates for a few years near her daughters, Joan Walczynski and Loretta Mikkelsen. Mrs. Holtfodt suffered many years from crippling arthritis and in recent years was bedridden. She entered the Villa Nursing home when her condition called for extensive care. Her husband, Albert, is employed there. Our deepest and heartfelt sympathy is extended and may our Divine Lord bless and comfort each of you in CLEAN-OUT FOR GOODWILL If youx want to make your Christmas gift planning easier and at the same time get a head start on your Christ- (Henry your sorrow. Annivers&Ty Greetings On Dec. 9 Bob and Audrey Pinkonsly will be seven "wool" years wed. A very happy anniversary to yqu both. Thanks for your news. We would appreciate more calls. Many have told us how they enjoy reading long columns, but we do not always have time to call everybody. Not only that, we realize you can not have news every week, but we do not know that until we call. So in order to keep us from becoming a telephone nuisance please call us! It is known as the "checkout and clean-out" plan. You'll have space for new gifts, and you'll have the good feeling of knowing you have helped others. Those things you gather and give to nonprofit Goodwill Industries provide jobs, job-training and rehabilitation to handicapped people. If you don't have a bag, call your Goodwill or your local representa t i v e. Phone for a Goodwill truck to st6p at your door or take your bag or cartons to the local collection point, Goodwill store or collection booth. For Your Information Dear friends. The Reverend Paul E. Irion gives highest priority to the spiritual value of the funeral service which, with the body present, impresses the reality of death upon the minds and emotions of the bereaved. The funeral allows the survivors to ex-, press their grief, which avoids repression that can lead to mental and physical ill-, ness. The funeral, he says, also permits friends and neighbors to meet the mourners need for support. RcspectfuUy (JSE TL CLASSIFIE McHen ry, PETER M. JUSTEN & SON FdJNES&a. The words strike fear in your heart, although your child's name may be Mary, Jane, or Bob. You put him to bed and call the doctor. You give him medicine and nurse him tenderly. It is easy to tell when your child is not well -- physically, that is. And it is comparatively easy to provide whatever is necessary to heal him. But do you feel as much concern for his soul? Perhaps you have not noticed symptoms of spiritual indisposition. Perhaps you have thoughtlessly disregarded his spiritual needs. Yet his body is only temporal. His soul will live on -- and on -- and on! Your Church is like a doctor -- ready to heal illnesses of the spirit, but even more eager to prevent them. Attend Church regularly with all your family for spiritual check-ups, just as you call on your family physician for physical care.
