And come down to State Farm. ITATI FARM IMfURANCI Dennis Conway 3315W.EImSt. Phone385- 7111 State Farm Fire and Casualty Company, Home Office: Bloomington, Illinois County Board Gathers Facts (continued from page 1) third site set forth in description, for which the cost has been estimated, before construction can begin, at $614,000, including accommodation for about 200 cars. It was noted that the city of Woodstock has offered to underwrite $250,000 toward the court house if it is retained at the Annex site. The Throop street property* including two separate blocks, lists both businesses and residences. Board members were informed that at least two persons owning property in this area had refused to sell, requiring court action if this land should be decided upon. COUNCIL OPINION The entire matter took on a discouraging note when a let- - ter was read by the chairman, in which the City Council of Woodstock narrowed to the Annex and Andrew properties the only sites that members considered acceptable. Chairman Dean continued by stating that the first step is for the Public Building commission to recommend a site to the board, receive approval and a three-fourths majority of the City Council. Should the council not approve the commission and board action, then a resolution of the Building commission could call for a referendum to go to county voters at the next county election in November of 1968. Sip. Ward of Harvard asked to have more information regarding the program presented in broad form tay Architect John Vincent Anderson of Bull Valley for use of the Annex. It was decided to obtain a more comprehensive plan from Mr. Anderson, along with his views on suitability of this site. The newly appointed plan group appointed by Mr. Dean will meet within two weeks after receiving his opinions. ASK PARKING COSTS Supervisor Edward Buss of McHenry askedthecostofparking both above and underground, and this information, too, will be forthcoming in the very near future. A proposal by Supervisor Buckley of Woodstock that possibly money for the courthouse might be taken from the general fund will go to the State's Attorney for his opinion. The Valley Hi Nursing Home committee announced its intention to meet and attempt to secure an increase in state aid from the present $187 to a figure somewhat above $200, which is the actual cost of caring for one patient. At present, the county is assuming the additional burden. Clarence Regner, township road commissioner from McHenry, appeared before the board to request $3,000 for new culverts to be installed on Wilmot road. This was approved, to be paid out of the road ahd bridge aid fund. ' A report from the committee on fees and salaries told of a meeting with County Treasurer Cal Skinner, Jr., at which time he explained that the cost of clerk hire for his office for the first five months has amounted to $4,187.64 more than the cost for the same period the previous fiscal year. On questioning this increase by Supervisor Charles Weingartof McHenry, it was explained that increased services had required the employment of addi-. tional personnel, and each month a different employee was brought to the front office and instructed in the various phases of,the office so that all would know the proper government procedure. It was announced that Dr. Sandeen had resigned from the TB sanitarium board and his place will be taken by Dr. Frank Harris of Richmond. I JUNE 29, 1967 - PLAINDEALER - SEC. I, PG. 7 Air Conditioning's Blessings Cool, Calm and Collected Whether you choose room or central air conditioning for your home, you will receive the same blissful benefits. And keeping you and your family cool 24 hours a day is only the TB EXPENSES Board members were informed that the TB expenses for the county decreased from $85,000 in 1965 to $75,000 in 1966. However, higher rates indicate that the cost will spiral again in 1967. The sales tax for the county in February was announced'at $9,948.64 and in March, $15,- 366.68, a marked increase. The board appointed Stanley Cornue for another four-year term as supervisor of assessments. Members noted with interest that the McHenry County Department of Health had a surplus of $12,000 at the end of the first year of operation, which is July 1. Hie subject of printing a history of McHenry county was brought to the board's attention by Supervisor Thomas Huemaim of McHenry, chairman of the project. He disclosed that the best figures he has been able to obtain to date sets the budget at $48,000, which requires considerable more study before a decision on whether or not to continue publication plans are made. LOCAL ZONING In local zoning, E. and Dorothy Hughes, who purchased the Fredrickson lumber yard at Wonder Center, Wonder Lake, asked and received permission to change zoning to a conforming use. Following a report of the Legislative committee regarding letters sent to the state Capitol, asking representatives to vote in favor of particular bills, Air conditioning brings many more benefits that contribute to your family's happiness, comfort and health. First of all there's humidity which affects many people more than high temperature does. All the time your air conditioning is cooling, it Is also controlling excessnumidity automatically. The process of cooling the air wrings the humidity out of it. It's the same effect that causes ice to cake on the coils of an old-fashioned refrigerator. There it is the nuisance of frost build-up. In an air conditioner it is the blessing of dehumldiflcation. Because air conditioning permits windows and doors to be closed and automatically Alters the air, it delivers important benefits. Noise and dirtladen air are kept outside. Pollen and other air-borne irritants are reduced to the reief of allergy sufferers. Year-Round Enjoyment Another benefit of air conditioning is that you will have full use and enjoyment of your home all year long. No longer need you feel it is an imposition to ask friends to visit your hot and humid house. And no longer need meals be reduced to snack food because the family is too uncomfortable to enjoy nutritious food. With air conditioning, some families feel that it will mean giving up the outdoor living they enjoy. Actually, air conditioning gives you a choice. You can enjoy your outdoor living while it is truly enjoyable. But when the heat, the humidity, the insects, the dust or the neighbors get too much for you, it's great to have an air conditioned retreat awaiting. All this air conditioned comfort does not come at a king's ransom. A rising volume of sales, product improvements Supervisor Buss of McH6nry stated that in his opinion it should be noted where committee votes were not unanimous in making such requests. In discussing the organizational meeting of the McHenry County Mental Health Board, it was suggested that names which would better define the mental health groups be established because of a general confusion due to similarity. Action may be taken at a future meeting. Of special interest was a report of Sheriff John Carroll which stated that no juveniles were received as prisoners during the month. Motor Fuel Tax payments for April resulted in $1,038.10 being paid to McHenry township, the largest amount in the county, and $825.79 to Nunda. more > DON'T THROW AWAY MONEY . . . . a n d t h a i i s e x a c t l y what you are doing, if you have not talked to Mr.Paxton He needs men and women for first and second shift work, come in today! .
