His last week of tuning was spent in guerrilla warfare exercises. During his guerrilla training, he lived under simulated Vietnam conditions for five days, fighting off night attacks and conducting raids on "enemy" villages. He was taught methods of removing booby traps, setting ambushes, and avoiding enemy ambushes. Radeloff of 3214 W. Crescent, McHenry, is in the Gulf of Tonkin off the coast of North Vietnam as a crewmember aboard the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid. The Intrepid, which is normally designated an anti-submarine warfare (ASW) ship, traded her helicopters and ASW planes, and is now carrying a complement of A4 "Skyhawk", F8 "Crusader" and A1 "Skyraider" jet aircraft. As a unit of Task Force 77, the Seventh Fleet's attack carrier striking force, the Intrepid launches her aircraft on combat missions against tactically important targets in North Vietnam. Her aircraft also participate is destroying material being transported to enemy units in South Vietnam, and make strikes against supply sources and industries. Morningsids drive, McHenry, was graduated from the Marine corps field music school at the Marine corps recruit depot, Parris Island, S.C. The twelve-week school is designed for Marines with previous musical experience. Prospective students come from two sources. Recruits who are auditioned while in basic training are sent to the school upon completion of infantry training, or they may come from other Marine corps stations. Students are trained as military buglers and drummers, and upon graduation are transferred to field music positions with Marine units throughout the world. Witnesses Of Area Plan For Convention Summer convention plans letting to the Memorial coliseum in Madison, Wis., are being finalized by the Woodstock congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses according to an announcement made this week by Dominick Fontana, presiding minister of the congregation. He will head a delegation of about seventy from this area to attend the four-day gathering which will be held July 27 through 30. Jehovah's Witnesses from parts of Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin have been invited to this Bible conference. "We are expecting an attendance upwards of 10,000," Mr. Fontana said. "This convention will be one of 4 series of forty-nine scheduled for this summer in the United States by Jehovah's Witnesses. To help in the vast planning required for this assembly, eighteen departments are being organized." The convention is titled "Desciple- making" District Assembly. "Every Christian is basically a disciple-maker so each one of Jehovah's Witnesses is trained to be a Bible teacher. The purpose of this assembly is to provide Bible instruction and a better understanding of prophecy, as well as help train each Witness to be more efficient in conveying this knowledge to others," explained Fontana. Still, Woodstock, general county chairman of the savings bonds committee. Purchases in the state of Illinois were $28,993,468, according to Arnold J. Rauen of McHenry, director of the Treasury department's savings bond division. This is 2.97 percent below the total for last May and accounts for 6.6 percent of national sales which were $438,000,000. As of May 31 the dollar amount of UJS. savings bonds outstanding was $50.7 billion. PFC. F.L. DIEDRICH Pfc. Francis L. Diedrich, of 3921 W. Mobile Unit In Richmond Friday, July 14 The mobile chest x-ray unit will be in Richmond on Friday, July 14. Located on Main street with registration in the village hall, the unit will be in operation from 12:30 to 5 and 6 to 8:30 p.m. This program is sponsored by the McHenry County Tuberculosis association. The association suggests that all school personnel living in the area take this opportunity to obtain their yearly x-ray.
