The Most Reverend Loras T. Lane, Bishop of Rockford, will address the assembly during the concelebrated Mass at the homily. The Mass will be celebrated at II a.m. Reservations may be made for the luncheon and program with Mrs. Jack Barth, Route 1, Ridott. Deadline for .the reservations is Sept. 15. Husbands are invited to accompany their wives and attend the convention, too. Discussion topic of the panel will be the role of " The Catholic Woman in the Renewed Church" and the challenges asked of,her in implementing the dqcrqep of Vatican n. This evolves from the convention-theme, "These New People". Speakers will be the Reverend William P. Knott, diocesan director of the Post-Conciliar center in Rockford; Mrs. Joseph F. (Margaret) Flanagan of Milwaukee, project director of Women in Community Service; and Mrs. J. Don (Grace J.) Koss of Luxemburg, Wis., columnist and book reviewer. Father Knott's topical area of discussion will be women in the parish in relationship to the challenges presented by the post-con ci liar church. Mrs. Flanagan will cover the Catholic woman in the community after marks will deal with the woman and the family. Father Knott, whose job is to implement and coordinate the decrees of the Second Vatican Council, studied three years at St. Meinrad in southern Indiana. He was then assigned to prepare for the priesthood at the University of Louvain in Belgium, For three years he studied philosophy and received a PH. B. degree, and then continued for four years to theology and received his B.A. Mrs. Flanagan has a B.A. in Political Science from Siena Heights College in Adrian Michigan, and was a caseworker at Catholic Charities of Rockford. She served two and one half years as assistant and is now project director of Women in Comm jnity Service and is a member of the national corporation of WICS. A graduate of Drake university, Mrs. Koss taught speech in parochial schools in Green Bay and had a private studio. As an avocation, she has done book reviewing and program presentations for twenty-five years. OPEN HOUSE FAREWELL An open house farewell party honoring Rev. David E. Beauvais, former assistant pastor of St. Patrick's church for the past two years; will be held on Sunday, Sept. 10, at 8,p.m. in St. Patrick's church hall. An invitation is extended to all parishioners and also to all the other many friends Father made in his two-year stay in McHenry. Refreshments will be served by the Altar and Rosary, Home and School association and the Holy Name society. READ THE CLASSIFIEDS DEDICATE PLAQUE SEPTEMBER 17 FOR CILLILAN FAMILY On Sunday, Sept. 17. at 3 p.m. the McHenry County Historical society will dedicate a bronze plaque in memory of Samuel and Margaret Gillilan, as the first white settlers in what is now McHenry county. They arrived on Nov. 18, 1834, coming overland from West Virginia, driving two yoke oxei and a twohorse team, hauling their household goods in two covered wagons. They also dsdve along with them, some livestock, including several cows. The Gillilans were accompanied by Edward Rutledge,and first stopped in Ohio forayear, where their daughter, Martha, was born. Passing through Indiana the next year, they were joined, by two bachelor brothers Alonzo and Morris Cutler. None of thpse men settled in the county. The dedication serviced will be given by Rev. David W. Williams of the Congregational church of Algonquin. The Algonquin Pioneer society will hold-its annual meeting on the same day as the dedication, Sunday, Sept. 17, and wil 1 sponsor a pot-luck dinner to begin at 12:30, in the Congregational church rooms. Anyone attending is asked to bring his own service. Those attending will then adjourn and, in a body, attend the dedication, at the corner of the new cemetery, Route 31 and Algonquin- Cary road. 0SPJTAL SHOP IN MCHENRY MCHENRY HOSPITAL Patients admitted to McHenry hospital during the past week included Betty Blenner, William Hout, Mary Elkins, Betty Dougherty, William C. MEMORIAL HOSPITAL WOODSTOCK During the past week patients admitted to Memorial hospital, Woodstock, included Emanuel Magaluso, Harold Evans and Joyce Farana, Wonder Lake; Nora Jackson, Master James Korolovick, Martin Martinson and Herbert Roeske, McHenry; and Gerry Kunz of Ringwood. TWO MOUNTAIN SCHOOLS BENEFIT FROM BAR PARTY The annual DAR card party was held recently at the home of Mrs. Charles Wright on South street in Woodstock. Eighty women attended, comfortably seated at bridge tables set up in the living room, dining room, library and studio. Proceeds from this party will be used to benefit the two schools for mountain children supported by the National Daughters of the Revolution. The next regular meeting of DAR, Kishwaukee Trail chapter, will be held at the home of Mrs. Arthur Enerson on Monday, Sept. 25. There will be a business meeting at 11, followed by .luncheon and program at 12:30 p.m. Mrs. J.S. Moody will be the speaker. Mrs. Moody lives in Lakeof- the-Hills and is well known for her participation in literary affairs. She has a Master 's degree in drama from the University of Boston. She will give a book review on an Illinois Poet. MCHENRY HOSPITAL On Aug. 30 a daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. James McNeil of Crystal Lake. Mr. and Mrs. James Cervantes announce the birth of a daughter Aug. 28. A daughter was born Aug. 31 to Mr. and Mrs. David Hatfield of Ingleside. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Miller became the parents of a daughter Sept. 1. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Norstrom of Twin Lakes, Wis., welcomed a daughter, Sept. 3. HARVARD HOSPITAL Mis. August Borchardt,Mrs. Thomas Moore, Mrs. McMahon of McHenry were patients during the past week in Harvard hospital.
