Mr. Gruner has accepted the chairmanship for a future •ff&ir to be held, at this time no other details are available. Clarence Mueller reported that be had talked to Mr. Miller, who has been unable to gettogether with his board of directors so there is no new information of the turning over of units 1, 2, 3 and 4 at present. ANNIVERSARIES On Sept. 14 Christopher and Bertha Quinn will be celebrating their fortieth wedding anniversary and on the twentieth Matthew 'Sam* and Julia Zeimet will have their thirty-seventh. Congratulations to both our fine couples and may they have many more happy years together. WELCOME THE MASSARIKS We welcome Dr. Ronald and Mrs. Massarik who have moved into the home at 806 Carol from Edgebrcok Heights with their two small children. We wish them the best of everything in their new house and hope they will enjoy living in the Shores which we think is a mighty nice place. AROUND THE SHORES Audrey and ChQck Whitney and the children spent Friday at the Milwaukee Zoo and thor- . oughly enjoyed it. After having lunch they drove to Greendale, Wis., to visit Ted and Jule Scott and had dinner there. Former resident, Helen Smith, was in the area while on her vacation and went out for lunch with Irene Mueller, Mildred Snively, and Virgie Verstege one day. Helen, who is well and happy and look s fine has now returned to Redondo Beach, Calif., where she resides. Have you noticed the strange calm that has descended over the area since school started? Except for an occasional sonic boom you can hear a pin drop after a summer of children of all sizes playing ball, fighting, building tree houses in the prairies, sawing and nailing boards to limbs, riding bikes and generally having fun. How are you mothers taking all this peace and quiet? Well, this is it for today, as you can see the news is mighty lean this week, you can help make it better by giving me a call. See you next week. STATE TO ISSUE NEW SERIES OF CAR LICENSES " Because of the steadily increasing motor vehicle registrations, a new series of passenger car license numbers will be issued beginning with the 1968 registrations, Secretary of State Paul Powell has announced. These numbers will be made up of two letters and one and two digits, Mr. Powell said. For example, in the series beginning with A A, the numbers 1 through 99 will be issued for the first time. The same numbers will be used with other letter combinations, also for the first time. Motorists requesting these numbers must have their applications in his office on or before Sept. 30, Secretary Powell said._ He also advised them to submit three of four alternate preferences in case he is unable to assign their first choice. A total of 32,000 additional number s will be gained by using one and two digits with the letter combinations, Secretary Powell said. As in the past, the letters I,0,Q, and Z will not appear in any of the letter combinations, and certain others will not be used on passenger car plates because they apply to specific categories, such as DL, which designates dealer licenses, Mr. Powell said. ALL FOR THE CHURCH The Church is the greatest factor on earth for the building of character and good citizenship. It is a storehouse of spiritual values. Without a strong Church, neither democracy nor civilization con survive. There are four sound reasons why every person should attend services regularly and support the Church. They are: (1) For, his own sake. (2) For his children's sake. (3) For the sake of his community and nation. (4) For the sake of the Church itself, which needs his moral and material support. Plan to go to church regularly 'and read you Bible daily. Little arms reach up. I stoop and lift the precious weight of baby son into my arms and sitoell his sweetness. Prayers of praise and thanks fill my heart. Cuddling him close, I remember the night of his birth when Mary and I were told that our baby could not live until daybreak. How we prayed in those early morning hours, holding hands and clinging fast to our belief that God in His goodness would spare our son. How grateful we were for the courage and strength God's love and nearness supplied. How glad we wera for the Church where we had learned to love and worship the God who gives us all life. Do you wonder that Sunday morning finds us both in church joyfully worshipping and giving thanks to God? Attend the church of your choice. Whatever your need, it stands ready to help.
