They took a twelve day vacation in their camper up to Expo 67. Chi the way there they stopped at the Eisenhower locks in New York. Three days were spent in Montreal at Expo plus a bus tour of Montreal. A day was spent in Ottawa where they visited Parliament and saw the changing of the guards and also were able to take a boat trip. On the way home they viewed the locks at Sault Ste. Marie and took a boat trip to Mackinac Island. Their last camp site was St. Ignace. They then drove to Stevens Point, Wis., and stayed for three days where they visited with all of Betty's relatives. Bob and Denise Higgins and children spent two gloribus days at the Wisconsin Dells. While there they went on the boat ride to the upper and lower Dells, spent some time at deer park and did a lot of sight seeing. On their return to Illinois, they went to Crystal Lake, where they caught the train. They rode to Chicago, and back. The trip was enjoyed by both children as it was their first train ride. It was a very pleasant two days for everyone, but especially Denise who enjoyed the rest from cooking, cleaning and just being away from home. NO HELP YET!! The Brownie Troop 150 and Girl Scout Troop 88 face disbandment if no one comes forth to volunteer for leaders and co-leaders. It is a real shame that there are not enough parents interested in their children. As long as some one else runs their troops all of you parents are willing to have your children participate, but when it comes to self participation by the parents they are willing to drop the whole thing. Well, if you do not volunteer by the end of next week your girls will no longer belong to the Brownies or Girl Scouts. Is that what you want or are you going to do something to keep these troops going? WOULD YOU BELIEVE Mel Simmons and Jim Farley went to Hickory Knoll for a friendly golf game. For Mel, who has been playing a few years the day turned out to be a great one. Mel hit the ball, they were not able to follow it all the way because of the sun but they did see it going onto the green. When they got onto the green both were surprised to see Mel had made a hole in one. This is an accomplishment very few can boast of and one you can be very proud, Mel! BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION Lou Davis and Carol Kennebech went to the Fry home to bestow their birthday wishes to Bernice. It was to be a surprise but as they have been doing this for several years Bernice was expecting them. Before they left they enjoyed a piece of cake. LABOR DAY The Roy Go win family and Frank and Celestine Michels spent the Labor Day weekend in Berlin, Wis., with the William Gies family. The Higgins family were busy over the weekend as they were on the go the entire time. They took the children to a kiddy park near Dundee. Then it was to a restaurant for dinner. Andy and Joann Eichhorn and children enjoyed the Labor Day on the Fox River boating. A close friend from Kenosha For Home & Business All Makes and Styles We IIIHO open and repair safes. Donations will be used for research on control and cure of the disease, medical-scientific programs on treatment and education, support of clinics and assistance to families of these little victims. Some still may not be aware of Cystic Fibrosis, though it is considered one of the most common, chronic and serious^ diseases of childhood. It is a non-contagious, inherited disease marked by abnormally gluey, sticky mucus secretions which clog the lungs and interfere with digestion and by an unusually large concentration of salt in sweat. Victims are plagued by breathing difficulties, serious lung infections, heat exhaustion and chronic diarrhea. One out of every 1,000 children born each year has C/F. As recently as ten years ago most died in early childhood, but today the median age has reached fourteen. This is due to the special efforts of prominent biochemists, geneticists, physicians and other scientists who are concentrating on the puzzle of Cystic Fibrosis. Your generous donations are making this possible. Go Jeep" V6 (It's really fun!) Throw it in gear. And take off! It's really fun for the whole family.
