PG. TO, - PLAINDEALER - DECEMBER 13, 1967 : How Can I? Persona Mrs. Carl Lobitz has returned from a several weeks visit in the home of her sister, Mrs. Ida Mueller, in San Diego, Calif. ROLE FOR LEADERS "Dear Sir: "I firmly believe that some of the leaders of tomorrow are lurking around the hallowed tails of the high schools of this area. All these leaders do not have titles or jobs. To be sure, the titled people are leaders, but they are not the only leaders. Politics could be one area where these hidden leaders could 'shine*. "Many students do have a great interest in the world. They talk about it, and they want to do something to improve it. I think one of the ways they can express themselves is through politics. High school age seems to be a perfect age for being a good citizen and for serving the people. "Students, by joining the Teen Age Republicans or Democrats, can get out and mingle with the people of the community. They can register votes, they can babysit for a mother while she votes and they can provide transportation for people who, otherwise, would not get to the polls. And these services should not only be offered during political elections. Students should also be of help during school elections. After all, in these elections, students are at the heart of the matter. "Hie last junior college election is proof of this statement. If young people had not been interested in having a junior college, the issue might have been lost. They were responsible for getting the public behind the junior college. "The more people we have interested in better schools, better government and in improving community situations, the better schools and government we will have. So, I challenge all you hidden future public servants to come out and give your help to the city. Step forward from the crowd and show your true face. Join your local Teen Age Republicans. If there is none in your community, please write me on information on how to start your own club. (5006 Terra Cotta road, Crystal Lake, 111. 60014). "Sincerely, "Nancy Gil strap "President of the Mc- " Henry County Teen Age "Republicans". ford where they visited friends in St. Anthony's hospital. LIGHT UP AND LIVE Provisional reports indicate that traffic fatalities on Illinois highways decreased 25 percent from a year ago during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, Francis S. Lorenz, Illinois public works director, said. Figures indicate that 32 persons lost their lives during the holiday weekend, compared to 41 during a similar period in 1966. The reduced Thanksgiving death toll represents the seventh consecutive holiday period during which traffic fatalities in Illinois have gone down. "The 'Light Up and Live* program has played an important part in saving lives", Lorenz stated. "Over the Labor Day weekend, there were 16 deaths as compared with 33 a year ago, and last Easter there were 17 fewer deaths than the previous year. Most dramatic of all is the 67 deaths for the last Christmas - New Years holiday compared to 115 for the year before." ITEM: First-things-first is a good rule of thumb to use in painting. When painting a room, begin with the ceiling. Next, wall should be painted at the upper left hand corner and working downward to the floor. If you're a "lefty" just reverse the order. That'B a fair question. But not an easy one to answer because we have our own quality standards, different from any other meat merchant. These standards don't fit exactly the familiar terms you know for grades of meat. As an example, did you know that some beef, graded U. S. Choice, just doesn't meet our "Super-Right" specifications? It's true! You see... we don't buy by grade. We use our own high standards to bring you the best values. That doesn't mean we don't approve of such grading --not at all. It just means we're very fussy about the beef we label "Super-Right." It stands to reason we have to be or A*P wouldn't be America's number one meat merchant Are "Super-Right" Meats a good reason for shopping A*P? They're one of many! What's Cooking?
