Spring Grove road are the proud parents of their fourthdaughter. The new little Miss was welcomed at the Sherman hospital in Elgin on Dec. 9. Showering her with lots of attention are big sisters Karen, Darlene, and Cynthia. The newest member in the Mann family was named Arlet and was baptized in St. John's church on Dec. 31. Sponsors for the infant were Mrs. Lois Johnson and LeRoy Freund. Later in the afternoon a get-together honoring the occasion 4 was held in the Mann home. Present were the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George J. Schmitt and Mrs. Mildred Mann, along with the Robert Welter family of Grays lake, the Bernie Buss family of Aurora, the Don Johnson family of McHenry, Elaine Schmitt and LeRoy Freund and guest. Hie Richard Dehn family and our family visited with our family in Chicago over the Christmas holidays. Mrs. Mary Hettermann's home was really "alive" with relatives this past Thursday evening. Some thirty kin from Moant Prospect, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Crystal Lake, Woodstock, Wonder Lake, McHenry and good old Johnsburg indulged in some late Christmas celebrating. Ron and Sherry Smith flew in to spend the holidays with various relatives laist week from Colorado. They enjoyed Christmas Eve dinner at the home of his parentis, Walter and Millie. Also joining them were Jim and Marilyn Hester of McHenry. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Weber were so very happy to have all their family with them for a family-type Christmas Eve dinner. Carol Ann Stilling of St. Col* etta's School spent the holidays with various reiatives inthis vicinity. Registrations are being accepted at the YMCA Program center at 65 N. Williams street, Crysv tal Lake, and 226 W. Juddstreet,' Woodstock. Programs listed in the winter schedule for youth include ballet for girls in grades 2 to 6 od Saturday mornings at the Crystal Lake Program center, bowling league and instruction for boys and girls in grades 2 to ,8 on Monday and Tuesday at the Crystal Lake Metro Bowl, gym fun for boys in grades 2 to 4 and grades 5 to 8 on Satur&y mornings at the McHenry Junior high school, and gym fun for girls in grades 2 to 8 on Saturday afternoon at the Woodstock high school. Two Gra-Y clubs. for boys in grades 4 to 6 will meet twice monthly in homes in the McHenry area and at the Crystal Lake Program center, Indian Guides for boys in gradels 1 to 3 and their dads will meet twice monthly in homes, throughout the service area.' Junior high dances will be held on the second Friday of each month at the Lakewood Village hall, with live music, Judo instruction for boys in grades 7 to 12 will be on Wednesday evenings at the' Crystal Lake Central school gym. Swim instruction classes for youth in grades 2 to 8 will be conducted On Saturday mornings at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. at the Elgin Academy pool in Elgin, bus transportation is provided from McHenry. A beginner's tennis instruction class is offered for boys and girls in grades 5 to 12 on Saturday mornings at the McHenry Junior high school. The class is limited to eight. Hi-Y for boys and Tri Hi-Y for girls are ninth grade^ clubs which will meet twice' monthly at the McHenry Junior high school. FAMILY ACTIVITIES Family activities scheduled for family members of the Lake Region YMCA during thgwinter quarter are varied. Family gym is scheduled for Saturday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Elgin YMCA, family pot-lucks will be held once a month at 7 p.m. at the Woodstock Program center. Family swims are scheduled for Mondays at the Northwest Suburban YMCA in Des Plaines, foe Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at the Elgin YMCA, limited to family members of the Lake Region YMCA. Tobogganing and ice skating parties for family members will be planned for Sunday afternoons at the Crystal Lake Veterans Acres Park on a weather-permitting basis. Interested family members will be contacted by telephone for these activities. Membership is open to anyone and may be had by completing a membership application and paying one year's dues; For further information on registration, program activities, and memberships, write or telephone the Lake Region YMCA. ADULT PROGRAM Ten adult activities are included in the winter quarter program scheduled as announced by the Lake Region YMCA. Registrations are being accept-, ed at the program centers in Crystal Lake and in Woodstock, The Crystal Lake center is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. J^onday through Friday aM on Saturday mornings,- while the Woodstock centers is open during week day mornings. Activities planned for adults^ include Beauty on a Budget class on Monday evenings at the Crystal Lake Program center, bridge instruction on Monday afternoons at the Woodstock center, lose weight for women on Wednesday evenings at the Woodstock center, open gym for men on Thursday evening at the Crystal Lake high school gym, physical fitness class for women on Tuesday mornings at the Woodstock center.* Of special interest to men and women who are antique enthusiasts is the seat weaving course for cane/rush, and splint weaving at the Woodstock center on Monday evenings, soccer for men on Thursday evening at the Crystal Lake Central school gym, and the Women's Service board, organized to serve the expanding needs of the Lake Region YMCA. Yoi JUNIOR FIRE ' MARSHALS QVK; ; SAFETY BOOST i Junior fire marshals of Mcnry area schools have joined millions of others throughout the nation in launchingtheiran- < nual campaign for safety first in the wirtter months. Endorsed by Fir© Chief Justen of McHenry, the local Junior Fire Marshal program is sponsored by Virgil Pollock, McHenry agent for the Hartford Insurance group, sponsor of the program. In helping launch the McHenry campaign, Mr. Pollock said, "Prevention of fires mainly comes with people forming good, safe habits at home. The Junior Fire Marshal program is aimed at forming these good habits among the marshals themselves, their friends and their parents." McHenry area schools -are among some 15,000 schools a- ' cross the nation and in Canada participating in the program. Although the Junior Fire Marshal program is concentrated at Christmas time in ah effort to prevent accidents from marring the good-cheer season, the whiter campaign extends throughout the cold months because of the particular safety adults for men and women meet twice monthly.
