ANOTHER FUN TIME IN THE OFFING The time for the annual Jak- Ana Heights Association dance is" close at hand. This year's theme is the "Roaring Twenties". So if you are planning on attending and joining in on the fun, why not plan a costume for that evening. It is not necessary, but it usually helps to get into the mood of things. You can contact members of the association for tickets. The date is Feb. 3 and as usual will be held in the Johnsburg Community Club hall. CALIFORNIA BOUND "California Here They Come". Thaf s Joe and Vera Huemann who are winging their way through the blue skies and their destination is Encino. They will be spending a couple of weeks in the home of their daughter and family, the Jack Laureses. GIFTS GALORE Pat Doherty was showered with gifts galore when she was guest of honor at a party held, in the Ed Hettermann home Sunday afternoon. Some thirty ladies were in attendance to present lovely gifts to Pat which she will use in her future roll as jytrs. Joe Hettermann. After several games were played, the future bride opened her gifts. Lunch was served to the ladies after which they looked over Pat's many lovely gifts once again. "The "ohs" and "ahs" led you to believe that there were many gifts that others would also like to find in their house. But for some reason Pat was not about to let anyone go off with any of them. (I can't say that I blame her either) Hostesses for the afternoon were Kathy Hettermann and Diane Stilling. Pat will jet to Hawaii on Sunday and Joe will come in from Vietnam shortly after on an R and R. They will be married in Honolulu the next day. We send them all the very best of happy wishes. Joe returns to the states sometime in April. EXTEND SYMPATHIES Our sympathies are extended to Mrs. Dena May whose brother, Nick Miller, passed away recently. Also we all join in relaying our deepest sympathies to the members of the John Smith family. Mr. Smith passed away at the Villa Rest Home last Friday at the age of 92. Prior to last summer, he had enjoyed extremely good health and was active in his home as well as his garden. Funeral services were conducted from St. John's church Monday morning with' burial in the church cemetery. Another house across the street ? A wheat field ? A pine forest? A placidly flowing river, or an endlessly crashing sea? Your view, of course, depends on where you live. The kind of church you go to--whether it is Gothic in style or white frame, a pale pink stucco built in a Spanish manner, or a domed cathedral, depends, too, upon where you live. But whatever the size . . . whatever t^e shape . . . the Church is the Church. God's House assumes many forms on earth, but in all of them you will find His teachings, His word, His spirit. Go to your church next Sunday. popyright 1968 Keister Advertising Service, Inc., Strasburg, Vo. THE CHURCH FOR ALt ALL FOR THE CHURCH The Church is the greatest factor on earth for the building of character and good citizenship. It is a storehouse of spiritual values. Without a strong Church, neither democracy nor civilization can survive. There are four sound reasons why every person should attend services regularly and support the Church. They are: (1) For his own sake. (2) For his children's sake. (3) For the sake of his community and nation. (4) For the sake of the Church itself, which needs his moral and material support. Plan to go to church regularly and read your Bible daily.
