Calling all boys between the ages of 8 to 10. There are two den mothers anxiously looking forward to showing these young fellows the fun and excitement of being a Cub Scout. For the, first time in many years, we have more den mothers than Cub Scouts. Parents, why not give us a call if you have a young man in this age bracket. The boys are missing out on a good, deal. Call Mr. White at 385-7352, Mr. Breede at 385- 3131 or Mr. Haufe at 385- 5437. The January pack meeting was held at the VFW hall in McHenry with a fine attendance. Mr. White, Cubmaster, called the meeting to order and the opening was the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. A uniform inspection was conducted by Mr. Breede and Mr. Vance. This will be a regular part of every program. Part of the scout law is cleanliness and a clean dressed Cub Scout is a credit to the unit, an£ cleanliness is a habit? that will reflect ^vell in the later years of the young man's life. The theme of the month was communication, and the boys had a display covering the theme. A popular time in any pack meeting is the presentation of awards. Boys earn awards with the help of their parents and the more interest shown by the parents in aiding the boys, the more awards the boys are able to earn. The following boys received award: John Boettcher, Assistant Denners badge and Recruiters badge; Roy Breede, Denners badge, one and two year pins; Keith Teuber, one and two year pin; Tom Lundelius, Wolf badge, Gold Arrow, Silver Arrow and Denners badge. The meeting was adjourned and refreshments were served. BLUE AND GOLD DINNER Hear ye! Hear ye! Feb. 18 at the VFW hall in McHenry, at 6:15 in the evening, the Blue and Gold dinner will be held. And what group of teens were sent on a wild hunt to find a size 11 women's shoe and a 1966 Sears catalog? It was all part of the fun when the Luther League of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church held their meeting recently. During the first part of the meeting the Luther Leaguers were divided into two teams and sent on a scavanger hunt, The youth were given an hour to find articles which included a chicken feather, a horseshoe,-*; old fashioned night shirt and a hair from a horses tail. After the hunt Leaguers met at parish worker, Janice Wick's apartment where they listened to records while eating homemade doughnuts and sipping hot chocolate. A discussion followed in which Rev. Don Johnson told Leaguers to elect two members of the church that they would like to have as discussion leaders on Sunday mornings. Each youth was then given a church directory from which to elect two leaders. Allan Lyndrup and Bert Hagemann were elected to this post. Hie Leaguers then delivered a summons to the unsuspecting Mr. Lyndrup and Mr. Hagemann. A total of ten hours of church work would await them if they did not co-operate with the summons which said they were to appear before the Luther League court at that time. A trial was held and it wasx decided that a discussion type of class Would be held at 10 a.m. on Sunday mornings and that Mr. Lyndrup and Mr. Hagemann would work out a schedule in which one of them would be there each week.
