A new-style Farm Bureau membership drive is on tap this year, but the goal is. the same as always; more members to support and build on the four cornerstones of Farm Bureau: I. Education; n. Information; IIL Legislation and IV. Business Services. The 2,900 members in the McHenry County Farm Bureau launched the 1968 membership drive Feb. 12 - a fitting day to start the neighbor-to-neighbor search for fifty new members. The membership drive will continue through March 11, and workers will make calls during the month. Instead of a township- by-township approach on a single day, the drive will carry on until March 1 this year. "We plan to intensify our efforts and consolidate our preliminary contacts into members," says Kenneth Gieseke, chairman of the organization committee. Those who belong are convinced of Farm Bureau's value, of its position on national legislation, of its leadership in state legislative activities where the IAA has a respected voice. The drive will conclude with a dinner in mid-March. Each worker who signs one regular "M" member will receive his dinner free. If he signs two or more, his wife's dinner will be free, too! A year ago, membership stood at 2,916. During the drive fifty-six new members joined - forty of them were regular members. To maintain Dean's list ranking a student must have at least a 3.0 average (B average). A 4.0 is a perfect A. Among them was Thomas E. Carlson, son of Mrs. Walter Carlson, 3805 W„ Millstream drive, McHenry. ITEM: Studies reveal that about 70 per cent of food market purchases are made by impulse, while only about 30 per cent are preplanned. Apparently, only about one-fifth of the market shoppers go to the store with a complete list; another one-sixth have a partially completed list; about twothirds have only a mental list.
