"Ronnie" Perry Wins Trophy As W.L.S. Queen The W.L.S. Club (Weigh Less Soon) crowned its 1967 queen and honored its stars, (Stay thin and radiant) Valentine's Day. The evening was spent at the Woodstock restaurant the Timbers. With hearts and lace brightening up the dinner table, the crowning of the 1967 queen and presenting of awards made a very enjoyable evening. "Ronnie" Perry was awarded a trophy and crowed queen and the weight loss of 37 pounds showed off a shapely figure. Although she has lost more than 37 pounds, only the weight lost during the year can be credited to the awarding of the queen. Other awards given out for the most weight loss in their separate categories were as follows: first place winner in bracket 1, Agnes Clove, one of the "Stars" of the club; first place winner of bracket 2, Ronnie Perry; second place, Millie Pintozzi, runner-up to queen and another star of the club, and third place, Edith Klotz, who is very close to becoming a "star". The club has just added another B.O.W. to the list (Baby on the way) and are very proud of its future godchild. The W.L.S. club has had five "stars" in two years. There are still openings for new members, if anyone would like to lose that weight before summer, now is the time to start. Call 385- 0878. Activities planned for the evening are family gym and family swin. All family members of this " Y" may participate with their boys and girls who are two years old and up and youth who are family members but not accompanied by parents, if they are supervised by other adult family members. The evenings' activities begin at 6:15 p.m. with the family swim for persons whose last name begins with A-N, and ^ there will be swimming for families whose last names begin from O-Z from 7 to 7:45 p.m. All family gym activities on that evening begin at 6:30 p.m. and the gym is open to them until 8:30 p.m. In addition to the program planned for that evening, Lake Region YMCA family members may swim at the Northwest Suburban Y on Monday evenings from 7:15 - 8:30 at the Elgin Y on Wednesday and Saturday evenings at scheduled times and on Sunday afternoons from 2:30 to 4:30. BAKE SALE The Lakeland Merrymakers, a Girl Scout troop from the community, will sponsor a bake sale on Saturday, Feb. 24, starting at 9 a.m. in the McHenry Market Place. Easter Seal Auxiliary Plans Annual Meeting The Easter Seal women's auxiliary of McHenry county planned its annual meeting at the home of Mrs. Marge Dehlin at Crystal Lake last week. The affair this year will be a combined luncheon-theatre at Shady Lane, Marengo, Wednesday, May 8. This was announced by the president, Mrs. Helen Williams, and approved by the membership. An important program announced at the meeting was the poster design contest for Christmas in connection with the Christmas card sales, of which Mrs. Howard Fiedelman is chairman. This year the contest will be open to all students of high schools across the county. Ri - chard Fletcher, noted cartoonist will accept entries, and the contest will close on May 1. There will be three prizes, $25 for the first; $15 for the second and $10 for third prize. It was announced that the Easter Seal society's annual campaign will be under the direction ©f Mrs. Virginia Duddleston as general chairman; Mrs. Dolly Sterling as mail chairman and Mrs. Mary Lou West as tag day chairman. The bride is a 1964 graduate of McHenry high school, attended Moser Business school and is-presentiy a secretary at Western Electric. Mr. Heggeland graduated from Grant high school in 1960, attended Marquette university and is now employed as a salesman for Yardley of London, Inc. 'ikatfsi JACK LEVITUS Jack Levitus, 80, died of a heart attack Sunday, Feb. 18, at McHenry hospital. He lived at 1903 N. Meadow lane, Lakeland Park, for the past 14years aod was a salesman for Ladd Enterprises. Survivors include his wife, Irene, a daughter, Gladys Ghingold, Chicago and a son, Roland Meharg, Virgin Islands; and two grand-children. The body rests at the Kaiser funeral home, Foster and Broadway, Chicago and services will be held Wednesday .with burial in Mount Emerald cemetery. this area. OSCAR LANDIS Funeral services will be held for Oscar Landis, 72, of 96 Maple street, Crystal Lake, on Thursday, Feb. 22, at 1:30 p.m. at the Warner Funeral home, Crystal Lake. Mr. Landis died Feb. 19 at Hines hospital where he had been a patient for two days. He is survived by four daughters and three sons. His wife, Doro.- iy Cook Landis, preceded him in death two years ago. MR. AND MRS. RALPH E. AMICK, JR. This pretty bride was Miss Susan Brown of 1319 N. Millstream drive, McHenry, before her marriage on Saturday, Feb. 10, to Mr. Ralph E. Amick, Jr., of Beckley; W. Va. Her husband is serving with the U.S. Navy Medical corps, stationed at Great Lakes. The couple will make their home in DeKalb. LANGDON STUDIO PHOTO ARTHUR MEYERS Arthur Meyers, 73, a lifelong resident of McHenry, died Sunday evening, Feb. 18, in the Old Soldiers and Sailors home, Quincy, HI., where he had resided for several years. Mr. Meyers was born in McHenry Dec. 21, 1894. He was a bartender until his retirement. The deceased was a veteran of World War I and held memberships in the McHenry Legion post and World War I barracks. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Rusch, of Montgomery, Ala.; eight nieces and nephews, including two from ELKS EVENT SUCCESS The fifteenth annual "Be Good To Your Wife" event which was held last Saturday night at the Elks lodge, Woodstock, was a huge success, with several hundred in attendance to honor their lovely ladies.
