REFUSE REQUEST The matter of a student wishing to take advantage of the progressive study plan in the new high school, complete her schooling and leave next January for personal reasons was denied. The board agreed that for very sufficient reason, this flight be permitted, but the system is not planned to shorten education but to permit the student to take advantage of additional offerings. A discussion was held concerning $800 now held in the Scholarship Loan fund of the PTA. That organization, which has not functioned this year, would like to place that sum in the bank and offer scholarship loans to high school students. The question of a closed TV system for the school was discussed and members were informed that such units range in price from $250 to $6,000. Dr. Bergstrom commented on sev- Musin' & Meanderin (Continued from page 1) fatal to a good night's sleep. It's time to realize that the first yawn, as described , by scientists, is due to drowsiness or fatique and a sign that the body needs rest. But suppose you're at work and it's an especially dull day, -- again Ho-hum. And the boss is looking right at you. But you Can't stop, for yawning is an involuntary reflex. Once it has started, it's almost impossible to stop. Even when holding the mouth closed, the yawning muscles contract. The scientific explanation for people and animals yawning is a slow cutting - off of oxygen, when muscles are thoroughly relaxed. Better ventilation or exercise is recommended. The remedy when yawning occurs on the job is to drink something or bathe the face in cold water. Suggestion also causes yawning, for those who see others doing it are likely to yawn too. In fact, sometimes even reading about yawning can make you do the same thing -- Ho-hum! eral "units he saw in operation during his trip to Pennsylvania, when he touredseveral schools. No action was taken at this time on establishing a system locally. i NURSE RESIGNS The resignation of Mr^. Janet Conway, nurse was approved effective June 7. Approval was also given to the employment of a full time secretary for Gene Little, school community director, in conjunction with School District 15. A rental rate schedule Was also adopted for the use of school facilities. After one board member questioned the cost of two items in the new building, a decision was made to check out the figures before approval was given. One was in regard to a. change in laundry room equipment and the other for changes, in the music area. Deletions had been necessary beforepassage of the bond issue, and in an effort to re-instate them, members w^re not satisfied that the new price did not exceed the percentage increase agreed upon. Bob Carrington, representing Fridstein-Fitch, architect for McHenry West, gave building costs for the unequipped building. In comparison with other wildings they have designed, he described the west campus as very economical, the cost to be about $16.02 per square foot. USE THE CLASSIFIED .
