It is very important that members of the LPPOA attend the general meeting on Sunday, March 31, st 2 p.m. at the community house. Elections will be held at that time with eight candidites seeking election for the tltpee vacancies on the board of directors. Nominees are El- WCod Crane, Edward Erb, Jack Yegge, Eli Fedorenko, Charles Bates, Cecelia Oakford, Len Bottari and Gladys Hafer. The board is responsible for administrating the beaches which are the private property <rf the LPPOA as is the community house and adjoining progarty, which includes the baseball field and playground. They represent the community in such business operations as garbage collection. This is not a paper board and for proper representation your vote is required. WOMAN'S CLUB The Lakeland Park Woman's club will hold its April meeting on Thursday, April 4, at the community house at 8:30 p.m. Election of officers is the main item on the agenda for the evening. All members in good standins are entitled to cast their vote. Nominations may also be made from the floor during the meeting. Chairman of the nominating committee is Nedra Eckhart. Nominees are Kay Luing. Maureen Johnson, Jo Rizzo, Lyda Radisch, and Louise Kennett= Refreshments will be served as usual. First the two tenderfoots, Skip Jensen and Rich Nowell were inducted into the tropp with a candle ceremony while Steve Jaenicke was reading the twelve scout laws on a loudspeaker. Awards were a three year pin and Senior stripes to Dave George. Kurt Blake and Mike Koch received their second class pin and badge. Terry Beno got a two year pin. CUB PACK 459' The pack meeting was held on Monday, March 18. David Bremer became a Bobcat and Michael Mai moved 15) to Webelos. Attending the meeting were Bill and Mike Burmann and Keith Stokes and Steven Barker who are joining Cub Scouts. The theme for the month was "Rivers of the World" and the skits for.the evening were based on this. Tlie Webelos den told of different things of interest about several rivers. Den 1 did charades on river names and Den 3 did a showboat with songs and jokes. The Cub Pack is planning a kite derby to be held on Sunday April 21, at 2 p.m. at the community house. Homemade kites are preferred but the boys may use ready made kites with modifications. Prizes will be given for the most original kites and two prizes will be given for the highest flyers. This kite derby will be for the Cub Scouts and their fathers only. Committee meetings will be held the Thursday following the Pack meeting. GIRL SCOUT TROOP 320 March 20. We opened our meeting with a flag ceremony given by patrol 3. Mrs. Bierman explained the 1968 camp folders. Registration forms for Day Camp and for Camp Pokonokah were given to us along with the folders. Registrations for Day Camp are to be turned in to Mrs. Bierman with the money so that she can turn them over to Mrs. Engh no later than May 1. No registrations can be accepted after that .date. Registrations for Camp Pokonokah must be mailed on April 1. Registrations postmarked before April 1 are not acceptable. There is only one week to register for this. For further details consult the camp folder. Linda Apel showed her collection of stuffed animals for the Collector badge and patrol 1 did a choral reading for the Magic Carpet badge. Mary Beth Humann and Renee Stilling did a waltz and a hula to fulfill a requirement for the Dancer badge. Mary Ellen Johnson filled a requirement for the Magic Carpet badge. Judy Revak and Roni Bierman filled a requirement for the Dancer badge. A short court of honor meeting was held. We closed our meeting with the retiring of the colors and taps by patrol 3. Please have your money ready to pay for your order when the girls come as they have only a short time in which to deliver the cookies. BROWNIE TROOP 464 The meeting opened with the flag ceremony. The officers took dues and attendance. The Brownies learned a new outside game called Brownies and Fairies, and played a jump rope game. They talked about a new project which is to begin this week. Refreshments were served by the hostess f Elisa Rybak. The meeting ended with the magic tunnel. LITTLE LEAGUE The monthly meeting of the Little League was scheduled for this Wednesday evening so the results will be available for next week's column. Tryout dates will be announced so watch for further information next week. THE BOWLING ALLEY The results of the bowling of March 16 are as follows: The Fugitives are in first place with a 35-21 followed by the Georges with 34-22 and the Setters with 33-23. Jim's team is in fourth place with 32-24 and the Alley Oops have 31-25. The 3 J's and a B are sixth with 29-27 andthe Sociables and the Ringers are tied for seventh with 28-28. The Untouchables have 24-32 for ninth place and the Top Cats and the No-Names are tied for tenth position with 23- 23. The Mammas and the Pappas are twelfth with 16-40. It could be anyone's ball game after Saturday nighf s competition with position night. With so many of the teams within points of each other the outcome is anybody's game. The final night of bowling will be on April 13 with sweepers. . BIRTHDAY GREETINGS Many happy returns of the day and all that jazz to Dorothy Glorch who will celebrate her birthday on March 30. Ronnie Kamp will be fifteen on March 31 and David Brunow will be 5. Judy Slonina will even up with ten candles on her cake. Aprii l will be a big day for Butch Dowell who celebrates in Texas and Charlene Mueller adds another year on the second. Paul Lense will have one big candle on his birthday cake and Deb - bie Koczor will have ten, also on the second. Eddie Ozog, Adele Arndt, Pat Butler and Wanda Stupey will all collect the birthday loot on the fourth. Ron Meurer and Jim Duffy share the fifth, of April that is. Congratulations and best wishes for many more to each of you. ANNIVERSARY WALTZ Our very best wishes to Esther and Harry Cygan who will mark their seventeenth wedding anniversary on March 31. Bill and Shirley Stokes can chalk up eleven years of matrimonial bliss on April 4. STORK GRAM. The Victor Wehrman family is very happy to announce the, birth of a son on Saturday, March 23, at the Memorial hospital in Harvard. The baby boy weighed 9 lb. 1 oz. and was 21% inches at birth. He was named Richard Clarence. Besides mom and dad the family consists of Dawn, 8, Daniel, 7 and Debbie 5. The grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Friedle of McHenry and Mr. and Mrs. Wehrman of Loyal, Wis. Congratulations to the family on their newest arrival. STROLLING THROUGH THE PARK It's been one lovely day on top of another with a little snow thrown in for good measure, and just to keep us humble, but Aggie Prazak goes on record for getting the best birthday present ever this year. Son Ken arrived home on leave last Friday which was Mom's birthday with ten days before he has to report to his new station in Portsmouth, Va. He arrived at CHare in the evening to begin his leave. Helping him mark the momentous occasion were Patty McCarthy, Susan Wautlet, Steven and Brian Bremer, Steve Bockman, Jimmy Dawson and Margie Becker. His sister, Sherry, also was there. Cake and ice cream and kool-aid were served to refresh their energy after a rousing round of games. Former neighbors Dick and Charlene Wimmer are very happy to be the parents of a proud new baby daughter born on Marcl^21. The little lass was named Cheryl Marie and was welcomed by brothers, Jay and Dickie. Best wishes for speedy recoveries are sent to Dolly Nowell and Mrs. Timm who are patients at McHenry hospital where both are recovering from surgery. I must be in a forgetful mood today. Congratulations to Ted Kamlnski who just captured high scratch series in the Couples bowling league with a 623. Max Koch retains high series with handicap with his 635 and Joan Apel has high scratch series with 523 and Doris Schabow has that terrific 687 series with handicap to complete the .individual marks. Also forgot to mention the Woman's club luncheon which will be held on April 17 at the American Legion on Ringwood road. Serving will begin at 11:30 a.m. and reservations are being taken for business people who wish to eat and run. Just call Lyda Radisch at 385-2754 for tickets or reservations. These gals always have lots of goodies to tempt the appetite. Hie Bottari family went into Chicago last Sunday to celebrate a family full of birthdays for the Mazzoni side of the family. Louis and Lorraine and daughters, Joyce and Gail, all shared in the honors. They also got word from Dubuque, that son Ray, made the freshman baseball team at Loras college as catcher. Alma Sigmund is back home after spending ten days with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Forrester, in Glenview. The Humanns went into the city on Saturday to visit with Grandpa and Grandma and were quite surprised to see the Hancock building from the tollway near O'Hare airport. And the monster still has twelve more stories to go! We are still under a fire alert with no burning allowed although the rain expected during this week should alleviate the condition somewhat. Dogs are a nuisance too, lately, especially a particular one who likes to chase kids on bikes. There is an ordinance against loose dogs with fines for the offenders - paid hy the master, not the dog! WAVRO Hie meaning of Christ's statement about coming to bring men life "more abundantly" will be explored in depth at a Christian Science public lecture in McHenry on Monday, April 1. Paul K. Wavro, C.S.B., will be the speaker, under sponsorship of Christian Science society of McHenry. The event begins at 8 p.m. in McHenry . Junior high school, 3711 W. Kane. / Title o? the lecture is "Hie Way of Abundant Life5". Mr. Wavro is a member of the Board of Lectureship of the First Church of Christ, Scientists, in Boston, Mass. He has lectured in Europe, the Carribean and South America and is currently on tour of this country. He is a recipient of the De Molay Legion of Honor for achievement in his chosen field of endeavor. During World War n he served as a Christian Science Wartime Minister, withdrawing from business to devote full time to the healing practice of Christian Science.
