PLAINDEALER PHOTp SO By Earl Walsh MAKE YOUR OWN TV TEST It was way back at Christmas time, as we joined fellow workers in a jingle bell party, that we found a nice gift in our stocking -- two tickets for a stage play and dinner at Pheasant Run near St. Charles. Our daughter, Patricia, was home for a few days last week, so we were three in our run to Pheasant Run Friday evening. It all happened when our side- ^ kick, Marie, "Assistant Sports Editor" - "Girl Tuesday" and "Friday" - " Our Irish Friend" -or whatever title we happen to pin on her, became enthusiastic about a play she had seen and which was on stage last week. She told us the name " Ca^i Me If You Can" but by the time we got home nobody could recognize the title from our recollection of what we had been told. Found out later they called Marie to get it straight. time, before dinner. we sat down to The girls had time to look in the shops, but not too much Dining chairs were padded, as well they might be 'cause right there was where we remained for the whole performance. Our waitress was past her teens and knew the score. She let us know a slight delay in serving the food was all the fault of the kitchen and would we like a drink while we waited. Just to make us feel as much at home as in our kitchen where we can reach the coffee pot from our chair, the same waitress who would get us a drink at intermission was right there with the coffee when the other beverages did not appeal. There was a tricky plot to the play "Catch Me If You Can"' and we didn't catch. It captured our interest and threw us for a loop with a surprise He starred P a l a d i n series. Also brown trout have been stocked in Pierce Creek, four miles northwest of Lanark in Carroll 'County; Winneshiek Creek, 3V2 miles south of Dakota in Stephenson County, and Indian Creek, 1V2 miles west of Winslow in Stephenson County. Illinois trout fishing is on a "put and take basis" because the state does not have streams suitable for trout the year around. If the fish are not caught before the heat of sunmer warms the stream waters to over 70 degrees, they will die. The streams are located in open pastureland With little or no cover to help shade them. Trout are not reared by the De* partmsnt of Conservation. They are obtained from federal hatcheries at no charge except for the cost of transporting them to the areas stocked. Limits are eight trout a day and 16 in possession after opening day. On opening day both limits are the same -eighttrout. There is no minimum size limit on trout in Illinois. The newly-formed Candystriper bowling league will begin Saturday, May 11, at McHenry Recreation on North River drive, according to Miss Doreen Patterson, publicity chairman. USE THE CLASSIFIEDS By Bert Hagemann This coming Monday the baseball Warriors will open their 1968 season with a single game at Cary Grove. In the six years I have coached baseball here we have never had the opportunity for so much outside work, and certainly the orange and black are far ahead of any year prior to this one as far as being physically ready for a ball game. With the kind nod of the weatherman, the Warriors have had many intrasquad scrimmages and plenty of hitting to be primed for their season's debut. Tom Janik or Steve Stahlman wi 11 probably get the starting nod for the opener, with Jerry Freund behind the plate. Mike Janik and Mark Camasta will form the keystone combo, and filling out the starting infield will be Don Reinboldt at first and Chuck Reilly at third. Roy Ingram gets the nod in center field and he will be flank-, ed by either Doug Helohavy,;, Steve Kutnick, Mike Neubauer,' or Larry Miller. As of yet the team is still largely untested in varsity competition, but so far they have looked good, and certainly have hustled and worked hard. If desire and perseverance pay off, they will be winners.
