This was the amount required to operate the center and carry out programs of physical therapy, speech therapy, and assistance to patients planned by the board of directors, Mrs. Louis Duddleston said this week. Mrs. Duddleston, board member and a past president, is serving as the fund drive chairman. A few more contributions are expected as a result of a county-wide mailing in March. "We hope more funds will come from those who have not yet contributed, including individual citizens, businesses and industries," explained Mrs. Duddleston. "We depend entirely on donations and on fees by patients who can afford to pay for our revenue. We receive no local or state tax moneys of any kind." If no added financial support materializes, the board will be required to decide what programs to curtail or delete, she summarized. Latest data shows $12,212 have been received, a big amount but still not enough to do the job of serving many hundreds of patients in many areas of physical therapy. The seven - week summer speech program is established. It started June 17 with Henry Badu, Marengo, in charge. Mrs. Lenore Mika Churchwell, Long Lake, will serve as assistant. % The swimming program for handicapped patients able to swim, is scheduled for four weeks, beginning July 22, at the Woodstock municipal pool. One or two children are sent yearly to a special camp for handicapped youngsters - Camp Peacock at Lake Villa.
