Weisenburger, Jr., son of the senior Martin Weisenburgers, Feyerer's Subdivision, who has been stationed in Vietnam since March 10 was promoted to 1st Lieutenant, April 21, at Saigon. NOTES OF SYMPATHY Our condolences to the family of Charles Vandermeiren, of Wonder Center, who vyas pronounced dead on arrival at Mc- Henry hospital, April 23. Also, our condolences to the family of Paul Yanda, who passed away April 25 at McHenry hospital. Mr. Yanda will be remembered by many Wonder Lakers who attended McHenry high school as the band director for 25 years, retiring: in 1962. BIRTHDAY PARTY Miss Christine Cummings, daughter of the Gary Cummings, Oakwood Shores, celebrated her sixth birthday, Saturday afternoon, April 27 by inviting , her friends for games and refreshments. Those invited were: Heather CDonnell, Dee Sturm, Erin Quilty, Kathy Chamberlin, Shari Schau, Eileen Ahern and her sisters, Cathy, Karen and Diane. Christy received a beautiful new bike for her birthday. BIRTHDAYS Miss Cindy Keith, daughter of the Charles Keiths, Oakwood Shores, turned 17 years old, April 26. Also, Bob Freund son of the George Freunds, Shore Hills who is attending Robert Morris college at Cathage, will turn 19 years old, May 10. Happy birthday, Cindy and Bob!!! WANTED!!! BOYS, AGES 15 THRU 18 YEARS Boys wanted!!! All boys between the ages of 15 and 18 years old interested in playing American Legion baseball are asked to please contact Terry Haak, 653-5502 or Wilbur Haak, 653-5107, by May 19. The boys who will turn 19 years old before Sept. 1 will not be eligible to play. Games will be played Wednesday and Sunday evenings with the first games of the season scheduled, Sunday, June 9 Wonder Lake at Cary. The other McHenry county Legion baseball teams participating are: McHenry, Woodstock, Crystal Lake, Cary, Algonquin, Harvard and Marengo. ENSEMBLE CONTEST RESULTS An ensemble contest was held last Saturday, April 27, at Harrison school with twenty entries ( all Harrison school students) fourteen students were judged first place and six were judged second place. The judge was Fred Lewis, head of the music department at a Bensenville high school. Richard Mikus is head of the1 music department at Harrison. SPRING CONCERT DATES The Harrison school junior varsity band and choir will hold their spring concert, Sunday, May 19 at 1:30 p.m. and the varsity band will hold its spring concert on Sunday, May 26, at 1:30 p.m. at Harrison school. The concerts are open to the public. Tickets may be purchased from the students and at the door. FIREMEN'S AUX. MEETING The Wonder Lake Firemen's auxiliary held its monthly meeting Tuesday, April 16 at the fire house. There were thirteen members pres.ent and one visitor, Mrs. Carr. At the March meeting, Mrs. Lucile Abbt became a new member. The auxiliary is anxious to have more women join and also some former members return. The food tasting party has been postponed until a later date. Refreshments were served. The next meeting is Tuesday, May 21 at 7:30 p.m. at- the firehouse on East Wonder Lake road. ANNIVERSARY Happy fifth anniversary to Bob and Mick (Hansen) Manke, rural Woodstock on May 4. MOTHER AND DAUGHTER BANQUET Nativity's annual mother and daughter banquet will be Wednesday, May 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the church. The dinner is going to be catered and entertainment has been arranged that will be enjoyed by all ages. Tickets may be purchased from Mrs. Thomas Johnson, Mrs. Frank Anderson, Mrs. O. E. Malenius, Mrs. James Preston, Mrs. Charles Jacobson and Mrs. Norman Williams, Jr. Tickets will not be sold at the door and Sunday, May 12 is the last day they may be purchased. Forest Firms Paying For Air-Water Probe The forest industry in Oregon has taxed itself to provide funds for a two-year s^udy on air and water pollution problems by the Forest Research Laboratory at Oregon State University. Industry will pay a half-cent per thousand board feet of timber harvested in the year up to July, 1968, to help fund the study.
