liraw®®! 1 EWS DOLORES BRENNAN 653-9045 SET DATES FOR KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION I contacted Duane Andreas of the Johnsburg School District No. 12 this morning, and have the following information on school registration; Parents of Kindergarten youngsters for fall are to register on Thursday, May 16, between the hours of 9-11 a.m., 1 to 3 p.m. or 7 to 9 p.m. And on Friday, from 9 to 11 a.m. or 1 to 3 p.m. It is not necessary to bring your child, but you may. You will need to have a birth certificate at this time also. You will not need to pay the rental and milk or lunch fees at this time, as they are payable in the fall. If you have a youngster going into first grade in the fall, and has not gone to kindergarten you may also register at the same time as above. Registration will be in the multi - purpose room at the Johnsburg elementary school. COMMUNITY CLUB MEETING OPEN HOUSE AT SCHOOL The Ringwood Community Cjjlub met last Tuesday evening with Doris Low, president, calling the meeting to order. It vtas discussed and decided to hold the annual club-schoolpicrilc on May 26, at noon at the dchool grounds. Rain or shine! More details on picnic later on. The Community club decided to use some of the hot lunch money tp furnish ham for the picnic. So, I will inform you folks as tjp what to bring next issue. j Phyllis O'Halleran is in charge of games for the youngsters, and if you have any ideas as to games, give her a call, and also, she would like clean, pld nylons for some type of game??? Yep! So, keep the dates open. This is open to all families in the community, and not st those families with youngsters in the local school. The entire community is most welcome to attend. It's a good old fashioned picnic. The first, second, fifth and sixth grades are taking a school trip to Woodstock on Wednesday, May 15 to take in several interesting places. The meeting was then open for discussion as to what to do about the community club for the coming school year. Since we no longer will have our own Ringwood school, due to consolidating with Johnsburg, nobody seems to know what to do. The Johnsburg district said we could continue with our community club and use the school building for meetings, and we were all invited to join their PTA. Now, we will have classes here, I understand, but not all Ringwood youngsters, and some of ours will be in Johnsburg, so what to do? The Halloween parties, Christmas programs, etc., will be missed if dissolved. But how to do things is a problem. If any of you readers have any ideas or opinions as to what to do, give me a call or call Doris Low. As it stands now, things will be left standing for now, and when fall comes, the present officers will see what the majority of people want to do. You can hash it out at picnic time too. The meeting was then closed with the open meeting following. The fifth and sixth graders put on a very interesting play entitled "The Mail Must Go Through" starring Tom Low, Pam Jones, Andy Fossum, Colleen Mayer, Juanita Ackerman and Ralph Ackerman. The mailman was snowed down on his route, with the boy of the family coming to the rescue by offering to take the mail on his skis, an early birthdayjjres.ent. The mail did go thrctughT Very good acting and play. Congratulations to all. Several of the fifth and sixth graders then demonstrated their PE program, showing us many of the different exercises. The school rooms were open then for parents to tour them. You could see the work of the youngsters on their desks and around the room. The projects these kids have are fantastic. It was a very interesting evening. Following the open house, Marion Winters, Althea Walk- CEMETERY CARD PARTY A SUCCESS A fun filled night of playing cards was enjoyed by all attending the Ringwood cemetery card party at the school last Thursday evening. If you, as parents, will inform your youngsters not to dig and tramp up the newly seeded area, we will have a nice lawn soon. Many thanks to Ken and John and others who helped. R@®m at Top Yields Space All across the country, families who own older homes are discovering the attic as potential living space. Even though small, it can make a perfect guest room, a hideaway for adults, or a teen-agers' study center. Decorating-wise, it's exciting to retain the natural lines of the attic, emphasizing its steeply pitched ceiling and low knee walls. To make the most of the ceiling, panel it with bevel siding boards using any of the western woods like cedar, pine, fir or hemlock. Knotty grades are |^st expensive and can be dramatic finished with a dark stain. Use space along the knee walls for built-in drawers and cupboards. Match the wood to the ceiling for the best effect, or use this area to introduce a brightly painted surface. Carpet the floor to minimize sound transmission to bedroom below and build in a couch-bed for everyday sitting space and guest sleeping space. canned condensed tomato soup, and horseradish.
