Approaching And Returning From The Altar utiful Announcing The Engagement Announcement of your engagement by your parents may be made by simply giving the information to the McHenry PLAINDEALER. If your parents wish to make the announcement at a luncheon, reception or dinner party, send the information to The PLAINDEALER immediately following the party. Deadlines for news are 10 a.m. on Monday and Wednesday. The PLAINDEALER will be happy to publish your picture in conjunction with the announcement. Any size is acceptable, but the picture should be black and white. It need not be a glossy print. Colored pictures do not reproduce well, and usually cannot be used. Include the following information for use in The PLAINDEALER: bride's parents' names; and address, the bride's full name, the bridegroom's name and address, the bridegroom's parents' names and address, the wedding date and place, if they have been set. You may also include your present occupations, schools, fraternity or sorority affiliations, service with the armed forces, etc. There is space for this on the wedding information sheet at the back of this book and may be included with the wedding story if you prefer. lyweds lead the wedding party to the back of the church, followed by the best man, and each bridesmaid escorted by an usher. The ushers then return to escort first the bride's mother, followed by her father, then the groom's mother, followed by his father and other members of the immediate families. Ushers may facilitate orderly departure of guests by moving from pew to pew down the aisle indicating when guest should leave. At the foot of the altar you are met by the clergyman, bridegroom and best man, who enter from the vestry immediately before the processSETTING THE DATE... Setting the date involves, of course, your plans and the convenience of all parents, but must be set only after taking a number of factors into consideration. First, consult your clergyman. It is necessary to find out if he can perform the ceremony on that date; and if you are having a church wedding, whether or not the church is available. At that point, you should also decide on the type of wedding you both want - formal or informal, large or small, morning, afternoon or evening. Take into consideration not merely what your parents are willing to spend, but what you should ask them to spend, since the greater part of the cost of the wedding is their responsibility. The type of wedding decided on will influence the number of guests - or possibly, the number of guests you want will influence the type of wedding you feel you must have. Do you want the reception in the church parlor, your parents' home, a club, restaurant, or hall? Will you serve tea and coffee and cake, or will it be a sit down breakfast or luncheon with champagne? Is the place of your choice available for the day and time you want? Can the caterer accommodate you that day ifyouplanahome reception? Your must also determine if you have sufficient time to order, receive, address, and send invitations so that guests receive them three to four weeks before the wedding. ional begins. On arriving at the head of the church aisle, ushers stand at the right and the bride's attendants at the left. When you meet your bridegroom, withdraw your hand from your father's arm and, changing your bouquet if necessary, place your hand on the arm of your husband-to-be. You then approach the altar together. When you have taken your places, the music stops. At the conclusion of the ceremony, the clergyman congratulates the bridal couple, the music for the recessional begins, and the new- ************************** for the well groomed GROOM.
